  • User-generated content (UGC) satirizing the presidential candidates was widespread during the 2016 election in Taiwan. Using an experimental design, this study explored the predictors of viewer agreement to satirical UGC, and its influence on viewer attitudes towards candidates after watching the satirical videos from YouTube. Results showed that participants' agreement with the satirical UGC was predicted by their political cynicism and political information efficacy, but not by candidate favorability. Watching the UGC satirizing the presidential candidates effected the favorability toward the male candidates but not the female candidate. In addition, the evidence suggested that the frequency of exposure to satirical UGC is related to political information efficacy, but not with political cynicism or candidate favorability.

Methods: The sample of this study comprised 201 nurses working in the general hospital located in Seoul, Korea for the year of 2024. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0, and the analyses included descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson's ANOVA, and multiple regression. Results: The factors associated with the level of nurses' resilience were hope (β=.41, p<.001), communication (β=.33, p<.001) and stress coping ability (β=.15, p=.005). These factors had an explanatory power of 61.5% (F=32.92, p<.001) in resilience. Conclusion: In order to improve nurses' resilience, various trainings and programs need to be developed to enhance nurses' hope, stress coping ability and communication.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the home literacy environment, mother's literacy belief and parenting efficacy in terms of the interaction which occurs during reading picture books between mothers and preschoolers. Questionnaires from 378 5-year-olds' mothers in Seoul and Kyunggi province were analysed. The findings from the validated structural equation model constructed with these variables were as follows. First, the home literacy environment, the mother's literacy beliefs and the mother's general parenting efficacy affected the quantity, and the quality of interaction whilst reading books with preschoolers. Second, the mother's efficacy in education and communication had a direct impact on the quantity of the interaction during reading books through the mediation of the home literacy environment, and had an indirect effect on the quality of the interaction whilst reading books, respectively. Third, the mother's efficacy in communication directly accounted for the quality of the interaction which occurs whilst reading books with children.

A convenience sample of 274 subjects were recruited from four colleges, and the survey was conducted from September 1st to 20th 2015. The data were collected by questionnaires and analyzed with the SPSS WIN 21 program, using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression. Significant positive correlations among the self-efficacy, communication competency, critical thinking disposition, and clinical performance ability were found. The regression model explained 40.8% of the clinical competency. Self-efficacy, communication competency, critical thinking disposition, and image for the nurse were factors influencing clinical performance ability. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an educational program to improve the self-efficacy, communication competency, and critical thinking disposition of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of maternal post-natal depression on children's communication competence, maternal self-efficacy and parenting style. The data on 1,438 pairs of children and their mothers were provided by The Korean Children Panel Study (KCPS). Mothers were assessed by K6(Kessler et al., 2002), The Pearlin Self Efficacy Scale(Pearlin et al., 1981), and The Parental Style Questionnaire(Bornstein, et al., 1996). Children's communication competence was assessed by K-ASQ. The collected data were analyzed with t-test and path analysis. The major results of this study were as follows : (1) Post-natal maternal depression was not directly associated with the children's communication competence. (2) Post-natal maternal depression indirectly influenced the children's communication competence via maternal self-efficacy and the parenting style. The results of this study suggest that post-natal depression within 1 year will not have an effect on the children's communication competence directly, but will indirectly influence it through maternal self-efficacy and the parenting style when the children are 2 years old.

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore the factors causing adolescents' habitual use of text-based online social interaction (TOSI). The authors of the present study assumed that adolescents' perceived intimacy would affect the use of TOSI. Using structural equation modeling, the influences of perceived social presence and Internet self-efficacy on habitual use of TOSI were examined indirectly as well as directly, with and without intimacy as a mediate factor. The results show that the indirect effects were proven to be stronger compared with the direct effects. Perceived intimacy appeared to encourage more frequent uses of TOSI. The effects of intimacy were even more stronger especially with those who had higher levels of Internet self-efficacy.
