Design of a Dexterous Anthropomorphic Robot Hand (유연한 인간형 로봇 손의 설계)

  • According to the study of grasping of the human hand, it is noted that the metacarpal link of the thumb plays the key role in power grasping. Also the face of fingertip can be discriminated into five parts depending on the grasping modalities such as pinch grasp, fingertip grasp and power grasp. In this paper, the design of the anthropomorphic robot hand which has a thumb and three fingers is proposed. A difference of SKKU hand II from the previous gripperlike robot hand is that the metacarpal bone is connected between the thumb and the palm. This thumb mechanism is specially designed to get the degree of freedom which can realize flexible motions relative to objects. Based on the analysis, the hand mechanism is developed. Since the driving circuits for the hand are embedded in the hand, only the communication lines supporting CAN protocol with DC power cable are necessary as the input. A new robot is manufactured and feasibility of the hand is validated through preliminary experiments.

  • 최근들어 초고속 통신망(xDSL, FTTH, Cable)을 이용하여 Head-End Server에서 가입자 댁내의 셋탑박스를 TV를 이용하여 멀티미디어(다채널 SD/HD 방송, VOD) 및 양방향 인터넷 연동 서비스(T-Portal, T-Communication) 등을 제공하는 것이 가능해 졌다. 더불어 고객들에게 인터넷을 통한 이 서비스의 품질을 보장하는 망 관리 관점에서의 기능도 필요하게 되었다. 고객들은 예전보다 더 나은 통신품질을 제공받기를 기대하고 있다. 따라서, 기존의 PE-to-PE 통신 품질 뿐만 아니라 CE-to-CE 통신 품질도 제공함으로써 고객체감품질 보증의 만족도를 향상시켜야 한다 본 논문에서는 IP 서비스(IPTV, VoIP 등)의 SLA에서 사용될 품질 지표에 관한 연구 및 PE-to-PE구간에서 부터CE-to-CE 구간 까지의 시스템 망 구성도, SLA 관리시스템에 관해 설명한다. 본 논문의 SLA 시스템에서는 가입자 댁내의 셋탑박스에 내장된 품질측정 Agent를 이용하여 통신품질 데이터를 측정한 후, 가공하여 SLA를 적용함으로써, 보다 정확한 고객체감품질 보증 및 고객에게 SLA의 신뢰성을 줄 수 있다. 또한, 서비스 제공자로 하여금 사전에 통신품질을 감시할 수 있는 기능을 제공함으로써 양질의 통신품질을 보장할 수 있도록 하는데 목적이 있다.

  • This paper presents the operation teclmology and the rerrote rmnitoring system of distribution pole transfonrer. Especially, this system uses cable 1V network as communication m:dia which is located in KEPCO's main distribution line. It has fom major components such as sensor for measuring the secondary voltage and currents of distribution transfonrer, RF modernfor data modulating/de-modulating, connnunication media for sending/receiving of data, and PC server for monitoring the results of sensing or computing information. This paper also describes the configuration of each component'sfunctions with its development process. In addition, the reliability and effectiveness of proposed system was confimed by aoolving this remote monitoring system to Jungbu branch area.h area.

Fabrication of Three-Dimensional Scanning System for Inspection of Massive Sinkhole Disaster Sites (대형 싱크홀 재난 현장 조사용 3차원 형상화 장비 구현)

  • Recently, interest in ground subsidence in urban areas has increased after a large sinkhole occurred near the high-story building area in Jamsil, Seoul, Korea, in 2014. If a massive sinkhole occurs in an urban area, it is crucial to assess its risk rapidly. Access to humans for on-site safety diagnosis may be difficult because of the additional risk of collapse in the disaster area. Generally, inspection using drones equipped with high-speed lidar sensors can be utilized. However, if the sinkhole is created vertically to a depth of 100 m, similar to the sinkhole in Guatemala, the drone cannot be applied because of the wireless communication limit and turbulence inside the sinkhole. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) scanning system was fabricated and operated using a towed cable in a massive vertical sinkhole to a depth of 200 m. A high-speed lidar sensor was used to obtain a continuous cross-sectional shape at a certain depth. An inertial-measuring unit was applied to compensate for the error owing to the rotation and pendulum movement of the measuring unit. A reconstruction algorithm, including the compensation scheme, was developed. In a vertical hole with a depth of 180 m in the mining area, the fabricated system was applied to scan 0-165 m depth. The reconstructed shape was depicted in a 3D graph.

  • 최근 국내외에서 모든 사물이 인터넷에 연결되는 초(超)연결혁명이 진행 중이며, 앞으로 사물인터넷 기반의 다양한 혁신과 사업기회가 창출될 것으로 전망되고 있다. 하지만 국내의 경우 세계 최고 수준의 광대역 방송통신 인프라 및 IoT 기기 제조역량 등을 갖추고 있으나, 표준 기반의 개방형 IoT 플랫폼의 부재로 국내 기업의 시장 진입이 어려운 상황이다. 대기업은 개별적으로 플랫폼을 개발중이나 글로벌 시장에 대한 주도력이 부족하고, 중소기업은 플랫폼 부재로 시장진입이 어려워 향후 스마트 폰 산업에 이어 IoT 산업마저 글로벌 기업에 종속될 우려가 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 국내외 다양한 분야의 기업들이 참여하여 다양한 홈 IoT 제품과 서비스를 개발할 수 있도록 특정 플랫폼이나 솔루션에 제약 없이 다양한 IoT 기기를 연결, 제어가 가능한 표준 기반의 개방형 홈 IoT 서비스 제공 방안을 연구하였다. 실험 결과에서는 제안된 개방형 홈 IoT 플랫폼을 통해 Z-Wave, IP, ZigBee, IrDA 등 다양한 통신 방식을 사용하는 홈 IoT 기기를 제어하고 정보 수집하여 사용이 가능함을 보여주었고, 이를 기반으로 플랫폼을 빅데이터 기술 및 기계학습 기능을 추가적으로 고도화하면 다양한 사물로부터 수집된 정보와 방송 정보, 웹 정보 등을 융합한 서비스 제공 등 소비자 중심의 창의적인 신규 방송통신 융합서비스 제공이 가능할 것으로 기대가 된다.

EVM Based SNR Estimation Performance in Cross QAM Using Selected Constellation Points (Cross QAM의 선택적 성좌점을 사용하는 EVM 기반 SNR 추정 성능)

  • In this paper, we investigate the signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation performance of Cross quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), which is being used for asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL), very high bit rate digital subscriber line (VDSL), and digital video broadcasting - cable (DVB-C), and has been found to be useful in adaptive modulation and blind equalization. At first, the symbol error rate (SER) performance of Cross QAM is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channel. Then we suggest error vector magnitude (EVM) based SNR estimation utilizing the selected constellation points having different types of decision region from one another, and verify that SNR estimation performance of each points have different performance pattern through simulation. From the simulation results, it has been found that when suggested selected constellation points are used for SNR estimation in Cross QAM, estimation performance is enhanced in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel or Ricean fading channel.

  • Since the advent of an information era, the traffic of communication has been remarkably increasing and the information service has gradually become speedy and popular. With these trends, it is necessary to extend the utilization of existing twist pair cables for PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) to provide high speed data services for telephone subscribers, In this paper, we have studied on a structure of discrete multi-tone ADSL(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Lines) system which can support high speed multimedia service using a twist pair cable, and analyzed the transmission performance by computer simulations.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced scheme adding a sign detector at the front of the correlator in STDR (sequence time domain reflectometry) system. We have executed simulations to show the improvement of detection performance in two fault types and various fault locations. Consequently, it can be shown that the proposed scheme improves the detection performance of the location of far-fault without increasing the computational complexity.

  • In this paper, we proposed a mixed-mode s-parameter measurement system for measuring the performance of twisted pairs. A twisted pair is a balanced type component, its characteristics can not be directly measured using network analyzer, which is generally implemented as a unbalanced type. It is possible to convert between balanced signal and unbalanced signal by using a balun but it restricts the frequency range of the measurement system. The proposed system measures the performance of twisted pairs by measuring mixed-mode s-parameters using a 4-port vector network analyzer and a designed fixture, without using a balun. We measured the performance of a commercial Ethernet cable and compared with the results which measured by using baluns. The results showed that the proposed system is capable of measuring the performance of twisted pairs.

  • The wireless-LAN(Local Area Network), which is emerged as a solution to cable problem and increasing requirement for communication network, has a several problem when it transmit information MAN protocol by used wired-LAN`s MAC protocol. Media Access protocol in Wireless-LAN has great effect on system performance and much studies are processing now. The PRMA(Packet Reservation Multiple Aeecss) of reservation method has a disadvantage that the system performance was degraded become of delay time in the reservation step as a resulting of collision. In this paper, using the TDD(Time Division Duplex) method amd modified PRMA method wireless-LAN modelled to overcome disadvantage, that id delay time due to collision in reservation step. The performance evaluation fo the model was done using M/M/1//M process model and this was simulation using SLAM.
