  • In this paper, the FPGA-based SoC board (Xilinx Virtex-4 ML401 EVM) is adopted to control electrical power inverter system. For marine application, its performance is shown on PC-based system for monitoring electrical characteristics of a power inverter using by the NMEA 2000 protocol. This power inverter system is achieved in Real-Time monitoring and control by dual micro-processor operation on embedded FPGA-based SoC board. One micro processor is for control (Control processor) electrical power inverter using by PWM signal. And the other microprocessor (Communication processor) is for communication with PC-based monitoring system. The two-processor is communicating each other using by dual-port ram (DPRAM). PC-based system user can control and monitor information of the electrical power inverter via NMEA 2000 based communication processor. Control and monitoring information includes the inverter status and configuration. SoC board converts this information to Parameter Group Numbers (PGNs) in the NMEA 2000 protocol. This system can be applied to marine power electronics for distributed power generation, transmission or regulation systems on the ship.

  • E-Commerce, characterized by the exchange of message, occurs between individuals, organizations, or both. A critical promotion factor of e-Commerce is message authentication, the procedure that allows communicating parties to verify the received messages are authentic. It consists of message unforgery, message non-repudiation, message unalteration, and origin authentication. It is possible to perform message authentication by the use of public key encryption. PGP(Pretty Good Privacy) based on X.400 MHS(Message Handling System) and PKC(Public Key Cryptosystem) makes extensive use of message exchange. In this paper we propose, design and implement NMAP(New Message Authentication Protocol), an applied public information based encryption system to solve the message authentication problem inherent in public key encryption such as X.400 protocol and PGP protocol and were to cope with the verification of NMAP using fuzzy integral. This system is expected to be use in the promotion of the e-Commerce and can perform a non-interactive authentication service.

  • In order for the consumers of education and university to be mutually communicating well, satisfaction surveys with a correct system are essential. This study points out the causes for insincere responses found in the process of education satisfaction surveys while discussing possible methods to elicit sincere responses from the students. As a result of analyzing S University, it was observed that enforced online evaluation methods did have a high response rate but also monotonously insincere responses showed to have a high ration among them. A second study was carried out in order to improve the research method after confirming the reliability of the research. Study results sowed that through a representative sample survey, monotonous response patterns decreased and the data distribution satisfied normal distribution. Moreover, a focus group interview was carried out in order to understand the root causes and possible solutions to the problem. Lastly, this study revealed the need of diversified attempts and research in order to secure reliability in education satisfaction surveys while proposing methods of improvement.

  • Sensor Networks are composed of many sensor nodes, which are capable of sensing, computing, and communicating with each other, and one or more sink node(s). Sensor networks collect information of various objects' identification and surrounding environment. Due to the limited resources of sensor nodes, use of wireless channel, and the lack of infrastructure, sensor networks are vulnerable to security threats. Most research of sensor networks have focused on how to detect and counter one type of attack. However, in real sensor networks, it is impractical to predict the attack to occur. Additionally, it is possible for multiple attacks to occur in sensor networks. In this paper, we propose the Secure Routing Mechanism to Defend Multiple Attacks in Sensor Networks. The proposed mechanism improves and combines existing security mechanisms, and achieves higher detection rates for single and multiple attacks.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of mathematical discourse about the length in the class that learns the length of the curve defined by definite integral. For this purpose, this study examined the discourse about length by paying attention to the usage of the word 'length' in the class participants based on the communicative approach. As a result of the research, it was confirmed that the word 'length' is used in three usages - colloquial, operational, and structural usage - in the process of communicating with the discourse participants. Particularly, each participant did not recognize the difference even though they used different usage words, and this resulted in ineffective communication. This study emphasizes the fact that the difference in usage of words used by participants reduces the effectiveness of communication. However, if discourse participants pay attention to the differences of these usages and recognize that there are different discourses, this study suggests that meta - level learning can be possible by overcoming communication discontinuities and resolving conflicts.

  • This study aimed to introduce a case study of a basic engineering design course using the ENACT model for fostering social responsibility of engineers, and to investigate the educational effects of the course. Since the ENACT model was designed to encourage STEM college students to pursue responsible problem solving based on their understanding of socioscientific issues, we assumed that it would be beneficial for engineering students to foster their social responsibility as well as their understanding of science/engineering-related issues. A total of 49 engineering students who enrolled in the course participated in the study. Data included students' course artifacts, reflection papers, and responses to survey questionnaires. Results indicated that the students became more aware of nature of science and technology after the program, and began to solve the problems while considering the views of multiple stakeholders. They highly valued the experience of communicating with others as engaging in the civic activities. They also expressed high satisfaction and feeling of achievement on the course learning. We expect the ENACT model to be an effective teaching guideline that fosters the social responsibility of engineering students and furthermore, engineering ethics.

  • Hierophany, according to Mircea Eliade, is a natural manifestation of the initial sacred. Through hierophany, profane objects and sites transform their qualities and then they themselves become sacred. People in traditional societies, in an attempt to reenact the initial hierophany, tried to perform consecrating rituals to replicate the first moment of the initial hierophany, at the same time and site. This article focuses on the concrete sites of hierophany. In ancient China, we can see specific sites that manifest the sacred such as Kunlun(崑崙), Jianmu(建木) and zongmiao(宗廟). Kunlun has the characteristics as the Cosmic Mountain that is the realm of the gods that tiandi(天帝) built as his center on the Earth, and it bridges Heaven and Earth. Jianmu joins Heaven, Earth, and the underworld like a Cosmic Tree or Pillar. It can be stated that zongmiao, the royal ancestral temple, functions as the Center of the World, the axis mundi, in which religious human beings express their desire to live in a sacred site, and in which they can regain their initial purity of spirits by communicating with the gods and ancestors. These three are the sites of manifestation of the sacred in China.

  • The use of social media has many advantages such as knowledge sharing, social networking, and communicating with other people. However, it has given rise to various side effects including stress, Which is defined as social network stress in this study. This study aims to conceptualize social network stress and investigate its effect on switching behavior in social media. For this purpose, we present a research model that consists of the antecedents and consequences of social network stress and test it empirically using LISREL 8.7 based on the structural equation model. The empirical results showed that knowledge sharing and self-disclosure had positive impact on social network stress, which in turn positively influenced social media switching behaviors. In conclusion, we discussed both theoretical and practical implications of this research and suggested its limitations.
