  • This study examined details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of housing competition promoted by korean architects group in 1946. The competition were held for the first since Liberation of Korea, and had practical purpose to construct houses to solve severe shortage of housing. This study found common trends of housing plan by prizewinning architects, analyzing architectural characteristics of prizewinning plans. Architects pursued western style living for renewed living conditions of people, planning precedent houses to put reception room at the heart of dwelling spaces and centralize them using entrance hall or corridor for traffic lines. Also, they arranged reception room and family room facing to the south and placed lavatory or bathroom inside of houses for hygiene. Kitchens were finished with wooden floor to keep same level of reception room and equipped with sink, kitchen table, pantry for convenient housekeeping. The result of competition become a basis of constructing houses by housing administration in 1947, and more important foundation for planning typical public houses of national housing corporation.

  • Pulmonary aspergillosis is relatively rare disease, most commonly presenting pre-existing cavitary disease. This investigation is designed to illustrate the clinical features, preoperative diagnosis and surgical role in the management of this disease. In retrospective review of opeative cases since Jan. 1988, total 16 cases were analysis. Peak incidence of age lies in the 3rd & 5th decade[81.3%].The common presenting symptoms were hemoptysis & blood tinged sputum[90.9%] & all cases had a history of treatment with antituberculous drugs, but the tuberculosis was revealed in only 3 cases in the pathologic studies on specimen after resection. The locations of lesion were upper lobes in 13 cases, lower lobe in 2 cases, and left whole lobe in 1 case. The operative procedures for treatment of aspergillosis were performed. The lobectomy was performed in 7 cases, lobectomy & segmentectomy in 2 cases, lobectomy & decortication in 2 cases, segmentectomy in 3 cases, bilobectomy & segmentectomy in 1 case and pneumonectomy in 1 case. There was one death due to respiratory insufficiency 21 days later, postoperatively, and empyemas & residual space problems were developed in 2 & 3 cases, respectively. The empyemas were treated with open thoracostomy and the dead spaces was filled with granulation tissues within 6 months. During follow up, there was no recurrence. In conclusion, surgical resection is the treatment of choice for symptomatic aspergillosis and needed in asymptomatic patient to prevent possible fatal sequelae in the future.

  • This study was intended to grasp the research trends related to the spatial composition of nursing homes. The 43 research papers were collected and analyzed. They were analyzed to focus on the research methodology and research contents related to the spatial composition of nursing home. The researches on spatial composition of nursing home were categorized into 5 types ; 1) the researches on the overall spatial composition of nursing homes, 2) the ones on space planning of each room in nursing homes, 3) the ones on the space size of nursing home, 4) the ones on the spatial composition of nursing homes in foreign countries, 5) the ones on the usage conversion of small-sized hospital and closed school into nursing home. The size and layout of a bedroom and common space were the main issue. These studies have been consistently carried out since late 1990 and many researches used the method of the analysis of floor plan and the field study. However, the number of the subject nursing homes and the categorized space areas were different depending on studies. Therefore, it was difficult to synthesize these various results. In order to compare and synthesizing the various results of these many studies, the same criteria for dividing the spaces of nursing home needs to be applied. However, many results from these researches related to the space composition of nursing home would be the useful data for planning the nursing home.

  • In choreography, the relationship between body and space is fundamental. Not only in the performing arts, it is an essential part in space design as well. In this sense, the comparison study between performing arts and space design will have various helpful aspects from which a creative design can be derived. This thesis aims to study spatial characteristics and expression methods in the choreography of performing arts that is dance in this case. The general background study of the relationship between body movement and space design in the modem art and architecture was explained in advance. And then its application in choreography was studied. Two case choreographers were selected: Merce Cunningham and Frederic Flamand. They have unique ways of designing and choreographing the relationship between body movements and stage spaces. This thesis attempts to find the differences as well as common characteristics between the two choreographers in terms of how they relate bodily movements and emotions into the given space.

  • Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumors or tumor-like malformations of blood vessels or blood filled cavernous spaces. Hemangiomas of the oral cavity represents 14% of all hemangiomas. Most hemangiomas are detected by one year of age and most commonly occurred in the lips, tongue, buccal mucosa and palate. But hemangiomas are sometimes reported in adults. We report one case of extensive hemangioma of the tongue in adult. Our case is a 48-year-old male who presented with a hemangioma occupying entirely two-third of the tongue. Treating those lesions pose a challenge to the surgeon. This paper discusses one case of extensive tongue hemangiomas treated with alcoholic sclerotherapy with satisfactory results supporting this particular approach in the management of these lesion.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out a way to apply the strength of American homeowners association to Korean housing management system through literature review on the legal basis, organizational composition and functions, and management models of homeowners association. Following is distinctive characteristics of American homeowners association. 1) Homeowners association is a juridical entity which 'Condominium Act' obliges residents to join. 2) The board of directors is decision maker. The covenant, however, gives residents right to act in committees. 3) Homeowners association has self-governing functions such as management of common spaces, permission of new construction and taxation. 4) Types of management are volunteers' self-management, association-employed management, full agency management, and some mixed types. Residents pay management charge by month or by quarter. This study suggests as follow. 1) It is needed for Korea to legislate the law to regulate the management system of detached houses. 2)Management system of Korea can be more efficient with volunteers' committees for active participation. Above all, architectural control committee is essential in the circumstance that reform of apartment is popular these days. 3) The management entity is recommended to have some self-governing function to talk about taxation policy with local governments.

  • In this paper, we first show that the iteration {$x_n$} defined by $x_{n+1}=P((1-{\alpha}_n)x_n +{\alpha}_nTP[{\beta}_nTx_n+(1-{\beta}_n)x_n])$ converges strongly to some fixed point of T when E is a real uniformly convex Banach space and T is a quasi-nonexpansive non-self mapping satisfying Condition A, which generalizes the result due to Shahzad [11]. Next, we show the strong convergence of the Mann iteration process with errors when E is a real uniformly convex Banach space and T is a quasi-nonexpansive self-mapping satisfying Condition A, which generalizes the result due to Senter-Dotson [10]. Finally, we show that the iteration {$x_n$} defined by $x_{n+1}={\alpha}_nSx_n+{\beta}_nT[{\alpha}^{\prime}_nSx_n+{\beta}^{\prime}_nTx_n+{\gamma}^{\prime}_n{\upsilon}_n]+{\gamma}_nu_n$ converges strongly to a common fixed point of T and S when E is a real uniformly convex Banach space and T, S are two quasi-nonexpansive self-mappings satisfying Condition D, which generalizes the result due to Ghosh-Debnath [3].

  • Let E be a uniformly convex Banach space with a uniformly Gateaux differentiable norm, C be a nonempty closed convex subset of E and f : $C{\rightarrow}C$ be a fixed bounded continuous strong pseudocontraction with the coefficient ${\alpha}{\in}(0,1)$. Let $\{{\lambda}_t\}_{0<t<1}$ be a net of positive real numbers such that ${\lim}_{t{\rightarrow}0}{\lambda}_t={\infty}$ and S = {$T(s)$ : $0{\leq}s$ < ${\infty}$} be a nonexpansive semigroup on C such that $F(S){\neq}{\emptyset}$, where F(S) denotes the set of fixed points of the semigroup. Then sequence {$x_t$} defined by $x_t=tf(x_t)+(1-t)\frac{1}{{\lambda}_t}{\int_{0}}^{{\lambda}_t}T(s)x{_t}ds$ converges strongly as $t{\rightarrow}0$ to $\bar{x}{\in}F(S)$, which solves the following variational inequality ${\langle}(f-I)\bar{x},\;p-\bar{x}{\rangle}{\leq}0$ for all $p{\in}F(S)$.

  • Let H be a real Hilbert space and S = {T(s) : $0\;{\leq}\;s\;<\;{\infty}$} be a nonexpansive semigroup on H such that $F(S)\;{\neq}\;{\emptyset}$ For a contraction f with coefficient 0 < $\alpha$ < 1, a strongly positive bounded linear operator A with coefficient $\bar{\gamma}$ > 0. Let 0 < $\gamma$ < $\frac{\bar{\gamma}}{\alpha}$. It is proved that the sequences {$x_t$} and {$x_n$} generated by the iterative method $$x_t\;=\;t{\gamma}f(x_t)\;+\;(I\;-\;tA){\frac{1}{{\lambda}_t}}\;{\int_0}^{{\lambda}_t}\;T(s){x_t}ds,$$ and $$x_{n+1}\;=\;{\alpha}_n{\gamma}f(x_n)\;+\;(I\;-\;{\alpha}_nA)\frac{1}{t_n}\;{\int_0}^{t_n}\;T(s){x_n}ds,$$ where {t}, {${\alpha}_n$} $\subset$ (0, 1) and {${\lambda}_t$}, {$t_n$} are positive real divergent sequences, converges strongly to a common fixed point $\tilde{x}\;{\in}\;F(S)$ which solves the variational inequality $\langle({\gamma}f\;-\;A)\tilde{x},\;x\;-\;\tilde{x}{\rangle}\;{\leq}\;0$ for $x\;{\in}\;F(S)$.
