And after 10 days of admission, we checked and compared VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups. SPSS(Statistical Program for Sdcial Science) for Window was used for a statistical analysis and the independent T-test was performed to gauge the improvement of VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index out of these two groups, in which case, value of P below 0.05 is considered as useful. Results : The result of the VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and improvement index of comparision analysis between two groups after 10 days, shows that the improvement of Back pain and Sciatica in Common Acupuncture treatment with Shin Tong Gyuk of Ohaeng Acupuncture treatment Group is more effective than that in Common Acupuncture treatment Group. (independent T-test improvement index P=0.21, VAS P=0.00)

Group B of 10 patients were treatedd by common acupuncture treatment and auricular acupuncture therapy by methods of pricking needles. Group C of 10 patients were treated only by common acupuncture treatment. The pain scale and improvement index of these three groups were evaluated after 10 days of admission. Results: 1. On the score of pain scale, group A and B were both superior to group C, but had no specific difference(p=0.15). 2. On the score of improvement index, group B was superior to group A, and group A was superior to group C(p=0.04). Conclusions: The combination of auricular acupuncture therapy and common acupuncture treatment was more effective than only to use common acupuncture treatment to lumbago patients. Especially, using the auricular acupuncture therapy by pricking methods, was the most effective methods in increasing improvement index.

Methods : This study was carried out on the 24 patients who had been treated for their acute inversion ankle sprain from July 1 to December 31, 2010 in the department of oriental rehibilitaion medicine, Dongsuwon oriental medicine hospital. And we divided those 24 patients into 2 groups; group A took near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment, group B took common treatment only. To evaluate the efficiency of each treatment, all patients were examined with visual analogue scale(VAS) and ankle-hindfoot scale(AHS) score before treatment and after the 3rd treatment. Results : On the AHS scores, there's no significant difference between the two groups after the treatment. And on the VAS scores, group A who took near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment showed higher change of VAS than group B who took common treatment only, but it did not show statistical significance in VAS score. Conclusions : In this study, there is no significant effect between common treatment only and near acupuncture point needling treatment on the peroneus muscles along with common treatment for acute ankle sprain.

  • This review aimed to analyze Korean medicine treatment (KMT) methods used for Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) in studies from January 1, 2010, to December 21, 2021. Five online databases (KISS, SCIENCEON, DBpia, RISS, KMbase) were searched for GBS-related studies. A total of 14 case reports were selected. Various treatment methods for GBS such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, and cupping have been reported, and some included Western medication. Herbal medicine and acupuncture were the most frequently used treatment methods. The most common prescription for GBS was Shipjeondaebotang Gami, the most common herb used was Glycyrrhizae radix et rhizome, and the most common acupoints were ST36, LI11, TE5, and LI4. In moxibustion treatment for GBS, CV4 was commonly used, and in cupping treatment the low back and back-shu points and were mostly used. Further studies on Korean medicine treatment of GBS are necessary for standardization of treatment.

Methods : From June, 2010 to September, 2012, 3 patients clinically diagnosed as common peroneal nerve palsy were treated with general oriental medicine therapy (acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results : The foot drop of the patients was remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy hasnotable effect in improving symptoms of common peroneal nerve palsy. • The purpose of this study was to analyze acupuncture treatment methods and acupoint used to treat infertility in the last decade. The data were retrieved from 2010.1 to 2021.8. using national and international electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, OASIS, NDSL, and KISS). "Infertility," "sterility," "acupuncture," "electroacupuncture," "bloodletting," "pharmacopuncture," were used as search terms. All studies were mainly concerned with acupuncture treatment of infertility, but the studies which were not related included; (1) infertility or acupuncture treatment; (2) animal studies; (3) review/meta/protocol or clinical study; comparative studies and case reports which were excluded from this review. Only clinical trials for acupuncture treatment of infertility were included in this review (n = 18). For infertility treatment studies using acupuncture, polycystic ovarian syndrome was the main cause of infertility, the most common acupoint used was CV4, CV3, CV6, SP6, BL23, and the treatment effect significantly improved in the group receiving acupuncture treatment compared with the control group, or the group taking Western medicine alone. In some studies, the group using acupuncture treatment did not show side effects. Acupuncture is an effective treatment for infertility.
