  • The industrial operation is one of the three basic modes of shipping operation with liner and Tramp operations. Industrial operators usually control vessels of their own or on a time charter to minimize the cost of shipping their cargoes. Such operations abound in shipping of bulk commodities, such as oil, chemicals and ores. This work is concerned with an operational optimization analysis of the fleet owned by a major oil company. a typical industrial operator. The operational optimization problem of the fleet of a major oil company is divided Into two phase problem. The front end corresponds to the optimization problem of the transportation of crude oil. product mix. and the distribution of product oil to comply with the demand of the market. The back end tackles the scheduling optimization problem of the fleet to meet the seaborne transportation demand derived from the front end. A case study reflecting the practices of an international major oil company is demonstrated to make clear the underlying ideas.

  • This study examined the comparative advantage of manmade textile (MMT) industries in the United States (US) and South Korea (SK). The Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) framework was used to assess the MMT industries' performance in both countries from 2004 to 2013. With the recent ratification of the United States-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA), it is important to understand the current state of these industries. Using UN Comtrade export data, the RCA index values were calculated and analyzed for 27 MMT commodities, three aggregate groups, and the whole industry. It was found that SK had a consistent comparative advantage for the whole industry. Furthermore, SK had a larger number of products with a comparative advantage. The research findings indicate that the MMT industry in SK is likely to outperform the US following the complete ratification of the KORUS FTA.

  • We consider the constraint based explicit routing problem in MPLS based IP Network. In this problem, we are given a set of traffic demands and a network with different link capacities. The problem is to assign the demand commodities to the paths in the network while minimizing the maximum link load ratio. We formulate this problem as an integer programming problem and propose an efficient column generation technique. To strengthen the formulation, we consider some valid inequalities. We also incorporate the column generation technique with variable fixing scheme Computational results show that the algorithm gives high quality solutions in a short execution time.

  • This paper considers the intermediate warehouse location problem in a two stage distribution system where commodities are delivered from the given set of capacitated factories to customers via uncapacitated intermediate warehouses. In order to determine the subset of warehouses to open which minimizes the total distribution costs including the fixed costs associated with opening warehouses, the cross decomposition method for mixed integer programming recently developed by T.J. Van Roy is used. The cross decomposition unifies Benders decomposition and Lagrangean relaxation into a single framework that involves successive solutions to a primal subproblem and a dual subproblem. In our problem model, primal subproblem turns out to be a transshipment problem and dual subproblem turns out to be an intermediate warehouse location problem with uncapacitated factories.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify participation-types of the family in the purchasing decision-making on items of commodities (TV, refrigerator, furniture, passenger car, housing, vacation, saving, husbands’clothing and children’s clothing). The other thing is to find who is major factors in each of the decision-making stages(the recognition of problem, the searching of information, the evaluation of alternatives and purchasing) among the subjects of decision-making (husband, wife, couple combination and family combination). To complete the purpose, the data were collected through questionnaire which 549 wives living in Seoul answered. From the data, frequency, percentage and correspondence analysis were executed by SPSS. The results of this study were briefly summarized as follows; Wives played an important role on all of decision-making stages for refrigerator, furniture, children’s clothing and husbands’clothing. Husbands played an important role on vacation and passenger car. And in case of saving, TV and housing, couple combination played an important role. It means that wives have a major influence on the purchasing process.

  • The private security will overcome the limit of public police system and implement a small and efficient government concept. Especially in recent years, this security system has naturally been expanded in its functions from crime prevention to prevention of disasters. To manage the emergency by the private security industry, the private security services to involve some peculiarity and specialty. The policy agenda of private security industry for crisis management are suggested. First of all, to provide quality services for emergency management, the guards from private organizations should receive professional education and training to secure the specialty. Second, we need to improve the quality of security instructors with intensive education system for them. Security instructors should be able to effectively handle lots of different matters in the fields of security, but examination of the current curriculum of education for security instructor indicates that there is not much chance of it. Third, must be natural in light that the private organizations have some limitations in their operational capabilities and scopes. Private security duties are well established in cooperation with related institutions such as the police. Lastly, development of high quality crisis management commodities in the private security becomes even more significant. The government should be determined to make an effort to grow the private industry and foster a political environment for the same purpose.

  • Purpose - This paper aims to measure the overall satisfaction of online grocery shopping and identify the quality components of online grocery delivery service. Furthermore, we examine the relationship between service quality, customer loyalty, customer satisfaction and intention of repurchase. Research design, data, and methodology - To test hypotheses, data was collected using questionnaires from online grocery shopping customers living in Korean local regions (Daejeon, Cheonan, Sejong). Quantitative research is applied using confirmative factor analysis and multiple linear regressions. Results - On the whole, customers are satisfied with the online grocery shopping. We found that convenience and reliability of grocery delivery service have a positive effect on the customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, we found that customer satisfaction has a mediating effect between convenience, reliability and customer loyalty. However, responsiveness of grocery delivery service does not have a positive effect on the customer loyalty and customer satisfaction. Conclusions - Since the quality of groceries are very sensitive to time and difficult to standardize, we need to analyze the quality components of delivery service unlike other commodities and find relationships with customer satisfaction, customer loyalty and repurchase intention. The results of research will contribute to providing satisfactory service and capturing loyal customers in retail industry.

  • Building is different from the general commodities and needs to maintain the function and performance to get the living condition. Building deterioration occurs naturally with time elapse. Deterioration reasons are various. These are physical, functional, social and second physical aspect. Building would inevitably be deteriorated and need to repair various building part and materials. It gets to arrive at repair or rebuilding time until any management activity is meaningless. It is important to decide the rebuilding time in a management cost. In this paper, it aimed at analyzing the management annual cost and provide a rebuilding time of a apartment housing with a deterioration curve model. Results of this study are as follows : Most of the building has started to deteriorate in 40 years when the performance of building downgrades to 20%. After it past about 40 years, the deterioration rate is faster than the earlier 40 years. Fourth, the rebuilding time of an apartment housing is recommended about 45 years if the building service life has 60 years.

  • In this paper, we propose a freight and fleet optimization model under CVO environment. The model is a kind of multi commodity network flow model based on Vehicle Routing Problem(VRP) and Vehicle Scheduling Problem(VSP), and considering operations and purposes of CVO. The main purpose of CVO is the freight and fleet management to reduce logistics cost and to Improve in vehicle safety. Thus, the objective of this model is to minimize routing cost of all the vehicle and to find the location of commodities which have origin and destination. We also present some computing test results.

  • H maritime company in Korea had a long history of difficulty in obtaining enough empty containers to transport its commodities. Despite efforts to resolve the problem, the repositioning of empty containers between depots was still planned manually, which consumed much worker time. To automate the generation of reposition plans, we developed a planning system to optimize the company's reposition of empty containers between global depots with a linear programming model functioning as a key decision engine in the system. The model determines the route, volume and mode of transportation for repositioning empty containers from depots with surplus containers to those requiring containers, as well as the empty space of ships generated from the unloading or loading of full and empty containers. The system has been in operation in the company's global network since March 2008.
