Surgical outcomes of colorectal cancer treatment depend not only on good surgery and tumor biology but also on an optimal perioperative care. The enhanced recovery program (ERP) - a multidisciplinary and multimodal approach, or so called 'fast-track surgery' - has been designed to minimize perioperative and intraoperative stress responses, and to support the recovery of organ function aiming to help patients getting better sooner after surgery. Compared with conventional postoperative care, the enhanced recovery program results in quicker patient recovery, shorter length of hospital stay, faster recovery of gastrointestinal function, and a lower incidence of postoperative complications. Although not firmly established as yet, the enhanced recovery program after surgery could be of oncological benefit in colorectal cancer patients because it can enhance recovery, maintain integrity of the postoperative immune system, increase feasibility of postoperative chemotherapy, and shorten the time interval from surgery to chemotherapy. This commentary summarizes short-term outcomes and potential long-term benefits of enhanced recovery programs in the treatment of colorectal cancer.

Studies of epidemiological and prognostic factors are very important for oncology practice. There is a rapidly increasing amount of research and resultant knowledge in the scientific literature. This means that health professionals have major challenges in accessing relevant information and they increasingly require best available evidence to make their clinical decisions. Meta-analyses of prognostic and other epidemiological factors are very practical statistical approaches to define clinically important parameters. However, they also feature many obstacles in terms of data collection, standardization of results from multiple centers, bias, and commentary for intepretation. In this paper, the obstacles of meta-analysis are briefly reviewed, and potential problems with this statistical method are discussed.

Ijema's four constitution theory is the result of creative succession which is originated from the "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", and shaped up as "Sanghanron(傷寒論)", the key of Ijema's theory would be the re-explnation of the Sameum-Samyang pattern identification. therefore, we should recognize that the four constitution theory is related to the Sameum-Samyang identification of "Sanghanron(傷寒論)". And is even on the mutual supporting relation. from this point of view, the "Dong-uisusebowon(東醫壽世保元)" could be valuated as a commentary of "Sanghanron(傷寒論)" which shows us that how to review the Sameum-Samyang identification as the point of characteristic of four constitution theory.

Vascular compromise is a well-known consequence of brain herniation syndromes. Transtentorial brain herniation most often involves posterior cerebral arteries. However, isolated involvement of contralateral superior cerebellar artery (SCA) during unilateral impending brain herniation is reported only once and we present another case of this exceedingly rare entity. A 24-year-old man was referred to us with impending herniation due to a multiloculated hydrocephalus, and during the course of illness, he developed an isolated SCA ischemia in the opposite side of the most dilated entrapped horn. In the current article we discuss the probable pathophysiologic mechanisms of this phenomenon, as well as recommending more inclusive brain studies in cases suspected of Kernohan-Woltman notch phenomenon in unilateral brain herniation. The rationale for this commentary is that contralateral SCA transient ischemia or infarct might be the underdiagnosed underlying pathomechanism of ipsilateral hemiparesis occurring in many cases of this somehow vague phenomenon.

"EuiBangYooChui"(Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions) preserves important historical documents about herbal medical prescriptions up to the beginning of Ming dynasty. Mikisakae, a well-known medical history scholar of Japan, attributed high values on "EuiBangYooChui"(Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions) as he stated that it summarized all medical knowledge of all over China and promulgated korean medicine to world top level. "EuiBangYooChui"(Classified Assemblage of Medical Prescriptions) thoroughly cited herbal prescriptions of 150 medical books of China which contents reach up to 9.5millions of letters. Also clarified all the sources of its contents. These efforts made easy the utilization for upcoming experts. Existing block books serves in various aspects of philological field, such as revision of lost documents, block book studies, contents studies, medical history studies, letter studies, phoneme studies and scholia.

More than a decade after their development and first wave of deployment, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing have recently returned on the corporate agendas of a larger number of corporations across industries and supply chains. In the wake of their re-surge, this commentary addresses the evolution, context, content and deployment patterns of the two distinct management concepts. It also analyses claims in the business press that a merger is taking place between Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing. Here, it is found that there is not enough evidence to broadly support such claims, and it is only concluded that there is some evidence of an early tend towards a merger and that a possible merger would have many synergies and advantages. Finally, an example from a Scandinavian manufacturing company is provided that explains how Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing can be used in a beneficial way for companies to reach world-class performance.

The purpose of this study is mainly directed towards present of viewpoints on critical and commentary analysis on blood rheology, blood viscosity models, and physiological flow conditions. Understanding these basics is fundamental to meet the need for a sufficient and reliable CFD model of blood. Most of the used viscosity models on this manner have determined from parameter fitting on experimental viscosity data. Availability of experimental data from literature to define viscosity models of CFD analysis should be accurately chosen and treated in order to avoid any errors. Several basic gaps that limit the CFD model results are identified and given opportunities for future research.

The 2017 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to the following three pioneers: Dr. Joachim Frank, Dr. Jacques Dubochet, and Dr. Richard Henderson. They all contributed to the development of a Cryo-electron microscopy (EM) technique for determining the high-resolution structures of biomolecules in solution, particularly without crystal and with much less amount of biomolecules than X-ray crystallography. In this brief commentary, we address the major advances made by these three Nobel laureates as well as the current status and future prospects of this Cryo-EM technique.

Learning community is one of the important pillars of the education in knowledge-based society. How to encourage students' spontaneous participation to the learning community is one of the actual problems to solve for the revolution of the education scheme. In this paper we introduce a strategy to boost the activity of the learning community, which works in the on-line space. The keys for the on-line supporting system for the learning community are to have communication space, trading space and connection with industry. To support activities of each space, we provide an on-line web site which includes a community module, a knowledge market module and an industrial commentary module. Students can start their self-leading study in the communication space, and they can also practice skills for the knowledge management in the knowledge trading space. Through the connection space, they can learn more from the real world critics with help of industry.

Design standard specifications for structures applied to Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail construction were established in 1991. Those specifications have been changed and supplemented in the process of above construction, and need to improve in accordance with the new criteria for construction works of Korean government. Also, a settlement of the criteria for prevention against disasters of Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail is needed, and related specifications have been revised. The design criteria for Seoul-Pusan High Speed Rail are enacted with knowhow which resulted from High Speed Rail construction, and those are enacted for the purpose of establishing criteria for High Speed Rail construction in the inside and outside of Korea.
