Effect of low frequency motion on the performance of a dynamic manual tracking task

  • The assessment of wind-induced motion plays an important role in the development and design of the majority of today's structures that push the limits of engineering knowledge. A vital part of the design is the prediction of wind-induced tall building motion and the assessment of its effects on occupant comfort. Little of the research that has led to the development of the various international standards for occupant comfort criteria have considered the effects of the low-frequency motion on task performance and interference with building occupants' daily activities. It has only recently become more widely recognized that it is no longer reasonable to assume that the level of motion that a tall building undergoes in a windstorm will fall below an occupants' level of perception and little is known about how this motion perception could also impact on task performance. Experimental research was conducted to evaluate the performance of individuals engaged in a manual tracking task while subjected to low level vibration in the frequency range of 0.125 Hz-0.50 Hz. The investigations were carried out under narrow-band random vibration with accelerations ranging from 2 milli-g to 30 milli-g (where 1 milli-g = 0.0098 $m/s^2$) and included a control condition. The frequencies and accelerations simulated are representative of the level of motion expected to occur in a tall building (heights in the range of 100 m -350 m) once every few months to once every few years. Performance of the test subjects with and without vibration was determined for 15 separate test conditions and evaluated in terms of time taken to complete a task and accuracy per trial. Overall, the performance under the vibration conditions did not vary significantly from that of the control condition, nor was there a statistically significant degradation or improvement trend in performance ability as a function of increasing frequency or acceleration.

  • Generally railway vehicle runs on the rail with endless interaction between wheel and rail. Irregularity of rail causes the periodic motion of the vehicle. In association with this motion, the design of vehicle would be carried out in order to avoid the resonance between car-body and bogie. It may be seen that the first vertical bending mode of car-body contributes considerably to the vertical ride comfort level. In this paper to know the effect of the car-body first vertical bending mode on vertical ride comfort, the mode has been considered with dynamic model. I-DEAS program was used to get the car-body first vertical bending mode and VAMPIRE program was used to analyze ride comfort index(Wz) with FE interface file.

대공간 열환경 특성에 관한 수직순환기류의 영향 (Effect of the Vertical Air Circulation on the Thermal "Environment in a Large Space)

  • This paper describes the effect of vertical air circulation on the thermal environment in an airport passenger terminal with induced flow by jet fans. In comparing the level of thermal comfort at the breathing line of 1.5 m in height, the results from the two models with or without the vertical air circulation, show that the average PPD is 8% in the former and 23% in the latter, respectively. It is thought that vertical air circulation lends to improved thermal comfort for human in respect of ventilation in a large space.

Car Ride Safety and Comfort Analysis considering Low-frequency Vibration of Car Body

  • In this paper, we found that modification of the local flexibility (or local stiffness) of the 4 parts on which shock absorbers are mounted in the vehicle body has some influence the level of ride safety and comfort. Multi-body dynamic analysis considering the flexibility of the vehicle body is performed using MSC/ADAMS and MSC/NASTRAN. More concretely speaking, natural frequencies and mode shapes computed by MSC/NASTRAN are used as input data for multi-body dynamic analysis in MSC/ADAMS. It is confirmed that the ride comfort can be improved by appropriately changing the local stiffness of the vehicle body through several simulations using MSC/ADAMS.

PMV지표를 이용한 공동주택의 난방제어에 따른 온열환경 및 에너지소비량 시뮬레이션 (An Approach of Indoor thermal Environment Control and Energy Saving Using the PMV Index)

  • 최근 에너지 절약을 화두로 건물에서의 에너지 절약기술들이 크게 요구되어 지는 반면 재실자의 온열쾌적환경은 비교적 비중 있게 다루어지지 않고 있다. 실내공간의 쾌적성은 재실자의 만족감과 더불어 생산성을 향상시키는 등의 역할을 하며, 최근 삶의 질 향상 등에 따라 그 필요성이 크게 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 공동주택을 대상으로 겨울철 난방 시 쾌적지표를 통한 실내 온열환경 제어의 타당성을 검토하고자 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 주거건물에서의 일상적인 실내온도와 에너지 절약 설계기준에서 제시한 실내 설정온도, 그리고 쾌적지표를 설정으로 한 각 제어조건의 온열환경과 에너지 소비량을 비교 분석 및 검토하였다. 본 연구결과에 따르면, 쾌적지표인 PMV로 실내환경을 제어했을 때 에너지 절약설계 기준인 $22^{\circ}C$로 실내온도를 설정하였을 때보다 에너지 소비량은 29% 증가하지만 주거용 건물에서 일반적으로 유지되는 실내온도인 $24^{\circ}C$ 보다는 에너지소비량은 11% 정도 감소하며, 온열쾌적감도 각 제어조건 중 가장 우수하게 나타났다. 따라서 여러 가지 제어변수들을 통한 연구가 지속된다면 주거용 건물에서도 쾌적지표를 활용한 실내 공간의 제어방법은 건물의 에너지를 절약하고 실내 환경의 쾌적성을 증대시키는 주요기술이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

소비가치 이론에 의한 병원선택 요인 연구 (A Study of Hospital Choice on the Basis of Consumption Values Theory)

  • This research is based on the Consumption Values Theory proposed by Sheth(1991). The purpose of this research is finding the factors related to the process of hospital choice. The expectation of six hospital outpatients 600 was analyzed by six consumption values categories: functional value, social value, emotional value, rarity value, condition value, health related values. The main results of this research is as following; 1. In the result of factor analysis 22 consumption value factors which affect the hospital preference were extracted; kindness/clearness, service speed, comfort of space, technical competence in functional values, high income/active social life, low income/blue collar unmarried/man, middle aged/big family, woman/married, introvert in social values, high-class, comfort, reliability in emotional value, newness, classiness in rarity value, social relationship, close to residence, social reputation in conditional values, priority on health, health behavior, active sense of value on health in health related values. 2. The difference of consumption values among hospital types were analyzed. The critical factors in reference for corporate hospitals newly established were kindness/clearness, service speed, convenience, classiness, comfort, and newness. University hospitals were preferred by the factors of reliability, and social reputation. In general hospital, convenience and close to residence were critical factor. 3. In logistic regression, age, marital status, education level and income as socio-demographic variables were significantly related to general hospital choice. Also service speed and close to residence were positively and high income/active social life and high class value were negatively related to general hospital choice. On university hospital choice, age and marital status, education show posive relationship whereas income showing negative relationship. Kindness/clearness, service speed, comfort of space, unmarried/man, comfortable feeling, newness and close to residence showed negative relationship with university hospital selection whereas technical competence, reliability in emotional value, classiness in rarity value, social relationship in functional values showed positive relationship. Lastly kindness/clearness, comfort of space, high income/active social life, unmarried/man, high-class, comfort and newness were positively related to corporate hospitals newly established choice in contrast to negative relationship in reliability in emotional value and classiness. In summary, we found that hospital user also choose to hospital in base of various consumption value. Further studies to investigate the hospital consumer behavior will be needed.

시차 분포 특성을 이용한 오토스테레오스코픽 3차원 디스플레이 시청 피로도 개선 방법 (Visual Comfort Enhancement of Auto-stereoscopic 3D Display using the Characteristic of Disparity Distribution)

  • 시청 피로 정도는 3차원 디스플레이의 성능을 평가할 수 있는 여러 요소 중 하나이다. 3차원 디스플레이의 시청 피로도를 개선하기 위한 많은 연구 중 시차 조정 방법은 3차원 영상의 시차를 적절한 분포를 가지도록 하는 간단한 방법으로써 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 시차 장벽 방식의 오토스테레오스코픽 3차원 디스플레이에서 시차 분포가 시청 피로에 미치는 영향을 기반으로 수평 영상 이동 방식을 이용하여 시차 조정하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 Speeded-Up Robust Feature(SURF)를 이용하여 3차원 영상의 시차 분포를 구하고, 이전 연구를 통해 구한 시차 분포가 시청 피로에 미치는 영향을 토대로 시차 조정 정도를 결정하고 3차원 영상의 시차를 조정한다. 제안 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여, 우리는 실제 제작된 시차 장벽 방식의 오토스테레오스코픽 3차원 디스플레이를 사용하여 최적 시청 거리에서 주관 평가를 실시한다. 실험 결과는 다양한 시차 분포를 가지는 3차원 영상에 대하여 제안 방법을 적용 한 후 시청 피로 정도가 감소함을 보여준다.

건조환경의 쾌적성과 미기후가 도시공간의 외부활동 지속에 미치는 영향 분석 (The Impact of Comfort of built Environment and Microclimate on Outdoor Activities in Urban Space)

  • 본 연구는 물리환경 및 미기후, 쾌적성이 외부활동 지속에 미치는 영향 도출을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서는 외부활동 지속에 영향을 미치는 요소로 도시 내 물리환경, 물리환경에 대해 외부공간 활동자가 느끼는 쾌적성, 미기후, 미기후에 대해 외부공간 활동자가 느끼는 쾌적성 등을 중심으로 접근했다. 이에 대한 분석을 위해서 2017년 중 봄, 여름, 겨울과 같이 세 계절에 대해서 외부공간 활동자가 느끼는 다양한 쾌적도에 대한 설문조사를 수행하였다. 설문조사 응답자가 설문조사에 응답하고 있는 동안에 주변 장소의 미기후에 대한 측정을 실시하였다. 이렇게 구축된 자료를 이용하여 효과적인 분석수행을 위해서 로짓회귀분석을 이용하였다. 분석결과, 물리환경 쾌적성의 용이성 및 안전성과 기후환경 쾌적성의 온도, 바람, 일사량 쾌적성 등은 외부공간의 활동 지속도와 유의미한 관계를 맺고 있었다. 머물기 및 대화 행위 보다는 걷기와 쇼핑 행위가 물리적 환경 및 기후환경에 보다 예민하게 영향을 받는 요소임을 도출했다.

여고생 하복의 착용만족도 및 하복용 직물의 쾌적성 평가 (The Wearing Satisfaction and Comfort-Related Properties of Highschool Girls' Summer Uniforms and The Fabrics)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the wearing satisfaction of highschool girls’summer uniforms, and to evaluate the comfort-related properties of fabrics used in the uniforms. The subjects were 441 female high school students attending three different schools in Chongju city. The data was collected using self-administered questionnaires to measure the wearing satisfaction of summer school uniforms. Factor analysis, t-test, and F-test were used for data analysis. The heat and moisture transfer properties and air permeable properties of their fabrics were evaluated to measure as comfort-related properties. 1. Most students were wearing blouses made of polyester/rayon blended fabrics and skirts made of 50% wool and 50% polyester blended fabrics. 2. Clothing care and management, and appearance of summer school uniform were assessed positively, while style and design, and the level of comfort were assessed negatively. 3. The subfactors of wearing satisfaction varied according to school, style and design, and fabrics of high school girls’summer uniforms. 4. PET fabrics were rated as having a lower value of thermal retention and a higher value of air permeability than other blouse fabrics. 5. There were not differences significantly in thermal properties according to skirt materials.

Velvet 직물의 인체 착의 실험을 통한 착용감 연구 (A Study on the Wearing Comfort in Velvet Fabrics)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine and to evaluate the wearing performance of pile materials to produce velvet fabrics which have excellent wearing comfort. Acetate velvet, Cuprammonium rayon velvet were combined as textiles for clothing and acetate and viscose rayon were as textiles for lining at the environmental condition of temperature $15^{\circ}C,\;18^{\circ}C,\;21^{\circ}C,\;24^{\circ}C$, relative humidity $50{\pm}5%$ and air velocity 0.25 m/sec. Wearing comfort among 4 materials combinations(Aa, Av, Ra, Rv) was examined and compared. The results are as follows. The investigation of mean skin temperature for environmental temperature and material combinations showed that the mean temperature had a significant difference at the p<0.01 level in accordance with environmental temperature and material combinations.(Aa>Av>Ra>Rv) Moreover, in clothing climate only clothing temperature tended to increase almost linearly but at $24^{\circ}C$ there was no significant difference among textiles for lining compared with the other environmental temperatures. In subjective sensations thermal sensation and comfort sensation showed a significant difference in environmental temperatures and materials.(Aa>Av>Ra>Rv) Though a subject felt warmer, more humid, and more uncomfortable at $24^{\circ}C$ for all of the material combinations comparing with the other temperatures, there was no significant difference in materials.
