ADN 기반 추진제를 적용한 마이크로 단일추진제 추력기 성능 평가 (Performance Study of Micro Monopropellant Thruster with ADN-Based Propellant)

  • 본 연구에서는 50 mN급 마이크로 추력기를 활용하여, ADN 기반 추진제인 LMP-103S의 연소 실험을 수행하였다. 마이크로 추력기는 MEMS 공정 과정을 거쳐 감광유리로 제작하였다. LMP-103S 분해용 촉매로 $Pt/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$를 사용하였다. 연소 실험 초기에 촉매 예열을 위해 90 wt.% 과산화수소를 주입하였으며, 이후 LMP-103S를 주입하여 연소 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 백금 촉매 환경에서 LMP-103S의 점화가 이루어짐을 확인하였으며, 연소실 온도는 $650^{\circ}C$로 형성되었다.

  • 나로우주센터에 구축/개발된 3단 엔진 연소시험설비에서 다단연소사이클 액체 로켓엔진의 시험을 수행하였다. 수류시험과 점화시험, 연소시험이 이루어졌으며 예연소기의 연소압력 제어를 위한 TTR의 개도를 $143^{\circ}$에서 $185^{\circ}$ 까지 변화시키며 시험을 수행하였다. 시험 결과 엔진의 주요성능과 TTR 개도에 의한 수력학적 변화를 확인하였지만 연소압력의 제어성 확인을 위한 결과는 얻지 못하였다. 향후 본 논문의 연구에서 도출된 개선점을 보완한 예연소기 압력제어 연구가 이루어질 것이다.

  • 성능이 우수한 액체로켓엔진 개발을 위해서 연소기 효율에 매우 큰 영향을 미치는 분사기 개발이 매우 중요하다 본 논문에서는 실물형 연소기 개발 전단계로 수행된 여러 가지의 축소형 연소기에 대한 설계 그리고 연소시험 결과에 대하여 논하였다. 충돌형 분사기 1종, 와류 딪힘형 분사기 1종, 와류분사기 혼합형 4종을 장착한 총 6종의 축소형 연소기를 제작하였다. 축소형 연소기의 연소시험은 대체로 성공적이었으며 연소 효율은 설계 목표치를 상회하였고 추진제 차압은 설계치와 비슷한 값이었으며 동압은 규제조건을 만족하였다.

스월비 변화가 직접분사식 디젤기관의 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Swirl Ratio on Combustion Characteristics in DI Diesel Engine)

  • Besides the fuel spray behavior and combustion chamber shape. an air motion has a key role on exhaust gas emission and performance in a DI diesel engine. A swirl ratio represents the ratio of the intake swirl velocity to the engine speed. The main purpose in this work is to investigate the effects of the swirl ratio to the combustion characteristics. A shroud valve machined to change the swirl ratio. Test was carry out by changing the engine speed, nozzle diameter and swirl ratio in a single cylinder diesel engine. From this study, the optimized combustion was found at swirl ratio 2.7. And it was also found that the increasing the maximum cylinder pressure with an increasing swirl ratio lead to decrease a smoke and to increase NOx.

  • It has become inevitable to search for alternative fuels due to severe energy crisis these days. Use of alternative fuels, which are typically of lower quality, tends to increase environmental pollution, including formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx). In this paper performance of vacuum residue has been investigated experimentally as well as numerically in typical operating conditions of a furnace. Heat release reaction is modeled as sequential steps of devolatilization, simplified gas phase reaction and char oxidation as that for pulverized coal. Thermal and fuel NOx are predicted by conditional estimation of elementary reaction rates and are compared against measured experimental data. On the overall reasonable agreement is achieved for spatial distributions of major species, temperature and NOx for all test cases.

  • In order to decrease fuel comsumption rate and emissions, lean burn engine which has equipped swirl control valve, is investigated experimentally on the test bench. Single cylinder engine was used to test the combustion and emission performance with 4 kinds of swirl valve. Decrease in the carbon monoxide, hyerocarbon and specific fuel consumption was shown at the lean condition, which means that a good choice of swirl valve on the given intake port geometry can be used to increase the combustion efficiency and lean limit.

  • 축소형 가스발생기를 제작하여 연소시험을 성공적으로 수행하였으며 분사기의 형상 변화에 따른 유량계수의 영향을 파악하였다. 연소시험 결과 산화제 분사기의 유량계수는 이전 결과보다 향상되었지만 저압 및 설계압 시험조건에서 저주파 섭동이 발생하였다.

Comparison of Effectiveness for Performance Tuning of Liquid Rocket Engine

  • An analysis has been made on the performance variation due to pressure drop change at propellant supply pipes of liquid rocket engine. The objective is to compare the effectiveness of control variables to tune the liquid rocket engine performance. The mode analysis program has been used to estimate the engine performance for different modes which is realized by controlling the flow rate of propellant. The oxidizer of combustion chamber, the fuel of combustion chamber, the oxidizer of gas generator and the fuel of gas generator are the independent variables to control engine thrust, engine mixture ratio and temperature of gas generator product gas. The analysis program is validated by comparing with the powerpack test results. The error range of compared variables is order of 4%. After comparison of tuning effectiveness it is turned out that the pressure drop at oxidizer pipe of gas generator and pressure drop at combustion chamber fuel pipe and the pressure drop at the fuel pipe of gas generator can effectively tune the thrust of engine, mixture ratio of engine and temperature of product gas from gas generator respectively.

  • THC(Total Hydrocarbon) emissions during cold start and warm-up phase constitute the majority of THC emissions during the FTP-75 mode. As the basic approach to improve the emission performance of Gasoline engine during transient phase, the effect of spark timing retard from MBT on THC emission characteristics is studied by engine test using a Fast response Flame Ionization Detector(FFID). A cyclic analysis of the combustion process shows that high THC emissions are produced first few cycles during the transient phase. This paper presents the results of engine performance and emission of Gasoline engine with various spark timing. consequently, This paper was focused on the combustion phenomena with various spark timing during transient phase which was analyzed by Fast response Flame Ionization Detector (FFID) equipment to measure the cyclic THC emission characteristics.

  • Since the oil shock of 1970's there was a strong upward tendency for the use of the high viscosity and poorer quality fuels. Therefore the misfiring engine occurs due to the decrease of quantity injected for lean burn and emission control in Compression Ignition Common Rail Direct Injection diesel engine. In this study, it is designed and used the test bed which is installed with fuel injector controller. In addition to equipped engine using CRDI by controlling the injection timing with mapping modulator, it has tested and analyzed the engine performance and combustion characteristics, as it is varied that they are the operating parameters: fuel injected quantity, engine speed and injection timing.
