  • The combination texture feature extraction approach for texture image retrieval is proposed in this paper. Two kinds of low level texture features were combined in the approach. One of them was extracted from singular value decomposition (SVD) based dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DTCWT) coefficients, and the other one was extracted from multi-scale local binary patterns (LBPs). The fusion features of SVD based multi-directional wavelet features and multi-scale LBP features have short dimensions of feature vector. The comparing experiments are conducted on Brodatz and Vistex datasets. According to the experimental results, the proposed method has a relatively better performance in aspect of retrieval accuracy and time complexity upon the existing methods.

  • We propose a neural network solver for an inverse problem. The problem is that input data with complete teaching include defects and predict the defect value. The solver is constructed of a three layer neural network whose learning method is combined from BP and reconstruction learning. The input data for the defects are unknown; therefore, the circulation of an arithmetic progression replaces them; rightly, the learning procedure is not converged for the circulation data vut for the normal data. The learning is quitted after such a learning status id kept. Then, we search a minimum of the differences between teaching data and output of the circulation. Then, we search a minimum of the ...

  • This paper presents a numerical model of internal flows in a lubricant supplying and scavenging flow path of an aero-engine lubrication system. The numerical model was built in the General Analysis Software of Aero-engine Lubrication System, GASLS, developed by Northwestern Polytechnical University. The lubricant flow flux, pressure and temperature distribution at steady state were calculated. GASLS is a general purpose computer program employed a 1-D steady state network algorithm for analyzing flowrates, pressures and temperatures in a complex flow network. All kinds of aero-engine lubrication systems can be divided into finite correlative typical elements and nodes from which the calculation network be developed in GASLS. Special emphasis is on how to use combined elements which is a type of typical elements to replace some complex components like bearing bores, accessory gearboxes or heat exchangers. This method can reduce network complexity and improve calculation efficiency. Final computational results show good agreement with experimental data.

  • Passive control of the flutter condition of suspension bridges using a combined vertical and torsional tuned mass damper (TMD) system is presented. The proposed TMD system has two degrees of freedom, which are tuned close to the frequencies corresponding to vertical and torsional symmetric modes of the bridge which get coupled during flutter. The bridge-TMD system is analyzed for finding critical wind speed for flutter using a finite element approach. Thomas Suspension Bridge is analyzed as an illustrative example. The effectiveness of the TMD system in increasing the critical flutter speed of the bridge is investigated through a parametric study. The results of the parametric study led to the optimization of some important parameters such as mass ratio, TMD damping ratio, tuning frequency, and number of TMD systems which provide maximum critical flutter wind speed of the suspension bridge.

  • Active surface adjustment of cable net structures is becoming significant when large-size cable net structures are widely applied in various fields, especially in satellite antennas. A general-duty adjustment method based on active cables is proposed to achieve active surface adjustment or surface profile reconfiguration of cable net structures. Piezoelectric actuators and voice coil actuators are selected for constructing active cable structures and their simplified mechanical models are proposed. A bilevel optimization model of active surface adjustment is proposed based on the nonlinear static model established by the direct stiffness method. A pattern search algorithm combined with the trust region method is developed to solve this optimization problem. Numerical examples of a parabolic cable net reflector are analyzed and different distribution types of active cables are compared.

  • This paper investigates the pull-in instability of functionally graded poly-SiGe micro-beams under the combined electrostatic and intermolecular forces and temperature change. The exponential distribution model and Voigt model are used to analyze the functionally graded materials (FGMs). Principle of virtual work is used to derive the nonlinear governing differential equation which is then solved using differential quadrature method (DQM). A parametric study is conducted to show the significant effects of material composition, geometric nonlinearity, temperature change and intermolecular Casimir force.

  • This study introduced deterioration evaluation item and criteria that could be applied to industrial facilities with the most widely used carbon steel pipe installed for ordinary piping (KSD 3507). Experimental industrial pipes were evaluated with pipe sectionalizing method combined with the established evaluation item and criteria to measure and manage semi-continuously for overall piping system. After applying outcomes from this study to a plant of incineration facility, a 42% saving in repairing and remodeling cost was achieved.

  • The Objective of the study was to determine the usefulness of human resource accounting(HRA) information in assisting financial analysis in their investment decisions. The objective achieved by an investigation through which the reporting of HRA, combined with demographic factors that are independent or interactive, affects the decisions of financial analysts regarding the estimation of the market price of a hypothetical company's common stocks. Two kinds of research were conducted to increase the reliability of the study at the same time. Two or three sets of financial statement were prepared. Each consists of balance sheet and income statement. The actual financial statement was modified to exclude personal bias and opinion.

  • This study is to systematize a flow of production activities with a formula to help understand the trend of production in an enterprise according to the profit graph. Although the existing methods of studies were unattainable to analyze earnings correlative to production due to the lack of total business management, this study is aimed at testing a new method that developed the method of an advanced analysis as well as a combined system of the profit graph. and the production trend.

  • In this paper, constrained resource project scheduling problems schedule project activities subject to finite constraints on the availability of non-storable resource. Further, resources are assumed to be available per period in constant amounts, and are also demanded by an activity in constant amounts throughout the duration of the activity. We describe formulation which minimizes the combined cost of fluctuations in resource demand and delay of project completion. Cost bounding procedures are augmented by dominance relationships presented as theorems. This paper presents algorithm for solving the problem. And numerical examples are presented. Sensitivity analysis to evaluate the effect of changes of cost efficients is conducted.
