  • Trajectory modeling is foundational for 4D-Route modeling, conflict detection and air traffic flow management. This paper proposes a novel algorithm based Vincenty's fomulas for trajectory calculation, combined with the Dijkstra algorithm and Vincenty's formulas. Using flight plan simulations our experimental results show that our method of En-route trajectory calculation exhibits much improved performance in accuracy.

  • Human factors still play a significant part in many railway accidents. It is well blown that SPAD (Signal Passed at Danger) remains as the single most cause of railway accidents. In this study a stochastic model is developed to quantify SPAD human reliability. This model provides closed-form mathematical expressions into which multiple factors affecting the reliability of man-machine systems can be incorporated. Two basic elements are combined to form the framework for modeling: random signal occurrence and transient human performance characteristics.

  • The model of a FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System) admits to a natural hierarchical decomposition of highly decoupled units with similar structure and control. The FMS fractal architecture model represents a hierarchical structure built from elements of a single basic design. A SES (System Entity Structure) is a structural knowledge representation scheme that contains knowledge of decomposition, taxonomy, and coupling relationships of a system necessary to direct model synthesis. A substructure of a SES is extracted for use as the skeleton for a model. This substructure is called pruned SES and the extraction operation of a pruned SES from a SES is called pruning (or pruning operation). This paper presents a pruning operation called recursive pruning. It is applied to SES for generating a model structure whose sub-structure contains copies if itself as in FMS fractal architecture. Another pruning operation called delay pruning is also presented. Combined with recursive pruning the delay pruningis a useful tool for representing and constructing complex systems.

  • This paper presents an algorithm CAPFACT to evaluate the reliability of a capacitated two terminal network such as a communication network, a power distribution network, and a pipeline network. The network is good(working) if and only if it is possible to transmit successfully the required system capacity from one specified terminal to the other. This paper defines new Capacitated series-parallel reduction to be applied to a series-parallel structure of the network. New Capacitated factoring method is applied to a non-series-parallel structure. The method is based on the factoring theorem given by Agrawal and Barlow. According to the existing studies on the reliability evaluation of the network that the capacity is not considered, the factoring method using reduction is efficient. The CAPFACT is more efficient than Aggarwal algorithm which enumerated and combined the paths. The efficiency is proved by the result of testing the number of operations and cpu time on FORTRAN compiler of VAX-11/780 at Hanyang University.

  • Increased complexity of products and their manufacturing processing demans higher quality control and monitoring than ever before. Therefore, flexible automatization or flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) offer numerous advantages over alternative manufacturing methods. In this state, a in-process monitoring is one of the important flexible automation system. And as use of NC and CNC machine tool has been increasing, cutting work has automating and it is necessary to develop the automatic production system combined a couple of machine tool. Thus, in this paper to search examination it can measure the tool wear and the tool life and can be more practical research subject.

  • We have developed a fluorescence optical detection system using a digital micromirror device (DMD) for monitoring 3D cell culture matrices in situ. Full 3D imaging with fast scanning speed was implemented by the combined action of a DMD and a motorized stage. Imaging results with fluorescent microbeads measure the minimum axial resolution of the system as $6.3{\mu}m$, while full 1-mm scanning through 3D alginate-based matrix was demonstrated. For cell imaging, improved images were obtained by removing background fluorescence although the scanning distance was reduced because of low intracellular fluorescence efficiency. The system is expected to be useful to study various dynamics and behaviors of 3-dimensionally cultured cells in microfluidic systems.

  • The axisymmetric dynamic instability of polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate combined with electrorheological (ER) fluid core layer and constraining layer are studied in this paper. And, the ER core layer and constraining layer are used to improve the stability of the annular plate system. The boundaries of instability regions for the polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate system are obtained by discrete layer annular finite element and the harmonic balance method. The rheological property of an electrorheological material, such as viscosity, plasticity, and elasticity can be controlled by applying different electric field strength. Thus, the damping characteristics of the sandwich system are more effective when the electric field is applied on the sandwich structure. Additionally, variations of the instability regions for the polar orthotropic sandwich annular plate with different applying electric field strength, thickness of ER layer and some designed parameters are investigated and discussed in this study.

  • Multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) can significantly improve the positioning accuracy and convergence speed. The reliability and availability of multi-GNSS precise point positioning (PPP) is steadily increasing with the rapid development of GNSS satellites. In this study, multi-GNSS PPP analysis is performed to compare the positioning precision by processing the observations from different GNSS systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou). To improve the positioning performance of the multi-GNSS PPP, we employed the weighed measurement noise (WMN) method. After applying WMN method to multi-GNSS PPP, positioning precision is improved by approximately 26.3% compared to the GPS only solutions, and by approximately 9.1% compared to combined GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo PPP.

  • In this paper, for detection and isolation of instrument and process faults related with steam generator(S/G) in nuclear power plant, two types of observers are designed based on the linearized dynamic model of S/G : a bank of Dedicated Observers (DOS) for instrument faults detection and a bank of Unknown Input Observers(UIO) for process faults detection. And then, they are combined to decide which one between the above two faults occurs. In principle, the failure in ith instrument(process) can be isolated by monitoring the error between the ith output and its estimation obtained from the ith DOS(UIO). It is shown via computer simulations that the present scheme is feasible in finding out the source of a fault.

  • The objectives of this work are to present the dynamic simulation strategy based on cluster-modular approach and to develop a prototype simulator. In addition, methods for the improvement of computational efficiency and applicability are studied. A process can be decomposed into several clusters which consist of strongly coupled units depending upon the process dynamics or topology. The combined approach of simultaneous and sequential simulation based on the cluster structure is implemented within the developed dynamic process simulator, MOSA(Multi Objective Simulation Architecture). Dynamic simulation for a utility plant is presented as a case study in order to prove the efficiency and flexibility of MOSA.
