Important determinants for selecting outdoor lighting are the color-rendering index (CRI) and scotopic-to-photopic (S/P) ratio of the lighting units. The higher the S/P ratio, the better energy savings and visual performance. In this study, CCT-tunable LED lighting units were optimized and fabricated by spectral combination of red, green, blue, and yellow LEDs. The measured results for RGB LEDs provided S/P ratios of 1.55~2.58 and those of RGBY LEDs gave 1.46~2.46 to the correlated color temperatures (CCTs) ranging from 2700 K to 6500 K, with CRI values of over 80 at the same time.
Moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) is an important item for many applications of polymer breathable thin film. To determine the optimum values of the process parameters, it is essential to find their influence on The significance of six important process parameters namely, extruder cylinder temperature, extruder speed, extruder dies temperature, cooling roll temperature, stretching ratio, stretching roll temperature on breathable film strength of polymer extrusion was determined. Moreover, this paper presents the application of Taguchi method and analysis of variance (ANOVA) for maximization of the breathable film MVTR influenced by extrusion parameters. The optimum parameter combination of extrusion process was obtained by using the analysis of signal-to-noise ratio. The conclusion revealed that extruder speed and stretching ratio were the most influential factor on the film strength, respectively. The best results of film MVTR were obtained at higher extruder speed and stretching ratio.
Hyperspectral cameras acquire reflectance values at many different wavelength bands. Dimensions tend to increase because spectral information is stored in each pixel. Several attempts have been made to reduce dimensional problems such as the feature selection using Adaboost and dimension reduction using the Simulated Annealing technique. We propose a novel material detection method that consists of four steps: feature band selection, feature extraction, SVM (Support Vector Machine) learning, and target and specific region detection. It is a combination of the band ratio method and Simulated Annealing algorithm based on detection rate. The experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed feature selection and band ratio method.
The general concept of reinforced roadbed in the high-speed railway is to cope with the soft ground for the bearing capacity and settlement of foundation soil. The cyclic plate load tests were performed to determine the behavior of reinforced ground with multiple layers of geogrid underlying by soft soil. With the test results, the bearing capacity ratio, elastic rebound ratio, subgrade modulus and the strain of geogrids under loading were investigated. Based on these plate load tests, laboratory model tests under cyclic loading were conducted to estimate the effect of geogrid reinforcement in particular for the high-speed rail roadbed. The permanent settlement and the behavior of earth pressure in reinforced roadbed subjected to a combination of static and dynamic loading are presented.
Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAF Dust) Is residual dust produced during the manufacturing of metal products from heavily heated electric arc furnace. Many researches have focused on recycling and reusing EAF Dust for industrial and construction purposes. However, most of these researches were aimed at obtaining useful heavy metal powders by treating toxic metallic materials in EAF Dust. Also, few researches dealt with using EAF Dust as admixture in concrete mixture (i.e., slag dust). In this study, EAF Dust is used as admixture in concrete mixture content considering economical feasibility and construction applicability. The concrete specimens mixed with EAF Dust is then tested in compression and tension to study its strength and ductility as well as its failure mechanism. The compression and tension (by split cylinder test) test results are compared to the results from the specimens without EAF Dust to understand the chemical stability and mechanical characteristic of concrete specimens with EAF Dust. For the experiment, 6 types of admixture added concrete were studied: ⑴Combination of EAF Dust and blast-furnace slag in 1 to 1 ratio, ⑵Combination of EAF Dust and blast-furnace slag in 1 to 2 ratio, ⑶EAF Dust only, ⑷blast-furnace slag only, ⑸fly ash only, and ⑹no admixture. The experimental results show that the strength of EAF Dust added specimen has lower early age strength but higher 28 day strength when compared to other specimens. Also, the Elastic Modulus of EAF Dust is higher(28 days) than other specimens. The study results prove that EAF Dust can be used as an effective admixture in concrete for specific usages.
With the possibility of hot water being able to be used as a heating source in a liquid desiccant system, an experimental apparatus for regeneration of the liquid desiccant was set up and series of experiments were conducted in a climate-controlled chamber. This study was performed to ascertain the influences of experimental factors on regenerating performance and to suggest the optimal combination of factors affecting regeneration rate. Furthermore. in order to figure out the contribution ratio of the factors on regenerating performance, a multi-way factorial design among the design of experiments was adopted. According to experimental results, the most influential factor on regenerating performance was temperature of the liquid desiccant and its contribution ratio was about 79.4%. In addition. the optimal operating combination was as follows; $60^{\circ}C$ of solution temperature, $14\ell$/min of solution flow rate, and 190m3/h of air volume.
The aim of this study was to prepare a new functional food with enriched bioactive compound by the combination of Tartary buckwheat and bean flour mixes. Two types of bean such as: black bean and white bean with the ratio of 5, 10, 15 % were used to develope a food formulation. The solid formulation of functional food was prepared by the hot melt extrusion process (HME) at the temperature of 60, 90, $120^{\circ}C$. Total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid (TF) and DPPH were analysed of the prepared food by the use of spectrophotometer. Results demonstrated that TPC (254 mg/g), TF (18.22 mg/g) and DPPH (88%) were significanlty increased in the receipe of 10% black bean and 90% Tartary buckwheat mixes among the formulation at $90^{\circ}C$. As therefore, it is concluded that the optimum ratio of bean and Tartary buckwheat flour mixes should be considerd for the preparation of high quality functional food.
We analyze the dependence of the mass-to-light ratio of spiral galaxies on the present star formation rate (SFR), and find that galaxies with high present star formation rates have low mass-to-light ratios, presumably as a result of the enhanced luminosity. On this basis we argue that variations in the stellar content of galaxies result in a major source of intrinsic scatter in the Tully-Fisher relation (TF relation). Ideally one should use a 'population-corrected' luminosity. We have also analyzed the relation between the (maximum) luminous mass and rotational velocity, and find it to have a small scatter. We therefore propose that the physical basis of the Tully-Fisher relation lies in a relationship between the luminous mass and rotational velocity, in combination with a 'well-behaved' relation between luminous and dark matter. This implies that the Tully-Fisher relation is a combination of two independent relations: (i) a relation between luminosity and (luminous) mass, based mainly on the star formation history in galaxies, and (ii) a relation between mass and rotation velocity, which is the outcome of the process of galaxy formation. In addition to a 'population-corrected' Tully-Fisher relation, one may also use the relation between mass and luminosity, and the relation between luminous mass and rotation velocity as distance estimators.
