The purpose of the study was to determine if an abstract color palette was representative of a color scheme of interior environment by which the meaning of colcor could be determined. An abstract color palette was developed by the researchers to show contrast, overlapping, and adjacencies as they might actually appear in an interior environment. Six pictures and six color palettes were used to test the meaning of color. The questionnaire consisted of 21 words to describe the color of interior environment. The sample consisted of 73 undergraduate students of varied majors. A factor analysis was used to identify the structure of color meaning. Five factors; emotional factor, factor of unity, spatial quality factor, factor of complexity, and social evaluation factor were identified. A t-test was used to analyze the difference in responses to the descriptor words for the pictures and palettes. It was found that in 14 of 21 descriptor, there was no significant difference between evaluation of color meaning for the pictures and palettes in 50% or more of the cases.
This study was conducted to investigate the dietary and nutritional status supplied by group feeding for blue color and white color in Seoul and Kyunggi area. The results are summarized as follows : 1. Blue color and white color of the average food supply per person per day was 1370.0g. Blue color of the total fool supply was consisted of 35.1% grain, 44.1% vegetables. White color of the total fool supply was consisted of 31.8% grain, 44.0% vegetable. The amount of milk product, fruit and fat supply were very small. 2. Blue color and white color of the ratio of main dish and side dish supplied was 69 : 31, 60.0 : 39.7. 3. Main dish all is rice. Side dish ard kinds of soupes and Jigeai Johngol in the two groups. In the kind of side dish white color much more than blue color. Dessert are scarcely supplied in the two groups. 4. The mean daily supplies of energy and 9 nutrients were above the level of the R.D.A. Blue color and white color of the mean daily amount of energy supply was 2653.0㎉ 3022.6㎉. Blue color and white color of the ratio of carbohydrate, protein, and fat supplied was 68.4%, 18.6%, 13.1%, and 62.1%, 20.9%, 17.0%. 5. Blue color and white color of the average feeding cost amounts to 460won, 812won per meal. 6. Blue color; There were high correlations in supply amoung energy, protein, fat. Recently, color proofing in printing industry grow rapidly. If an order decide color from known color information in the case of color reproduction, we can reduce expenses and time. In color proofing the best important point must be closed proofed color to primary color and secondary color. Model-based approaches have the advantages of faster recharacterization and the opportunity of simulating product enhancements such as changes in ink properties and halftoning. In this paper, we transformed the dot area of CMYK to CIELAB color space using color reprodution models. Firstly, we measured spectral reflectance of primary color printed by Matchprint II and the data was used to find tone reproduction curve using regression equation, and than we applied at primary color model, such as Murray-Davies, Yule-Nilsen, and mixed color model, such as Kubelka--Munk, relaxed version of spectral Neugebauser. In such results, the Kubleka-Munk model resulted in the best spectral reconstruction accuracy followed by relaxed version of spectral Neugebauer model, color difference is 2.8401.

Cycling has become a popular leisure activity, and many cycling enthusiasts have used cycling clothes as a form of expression, which often comes in wide range of colors. The study shows the importance of color in cycling clothing to meet the emotional needs of consumers. Furthermore, this study aims to provide comparative analysis between color of domestic and overseas cycling clothing brands, and color preference of Korean consumers in order to provide data, which can be used in satisfying consumers' needs for personal expression and emotional demands. Thus, the study expects to identify consumers' satisfaction for cycling clothing. The consumers were categorized by the frequency of cycling and their interest in fashion, and the following categories were made:potential consumers, casual cyclists with low fashion involvement, casual cyclists with high fashion involvement and frequent cyclists with high fashion involvement. Consumers preferred dark colors for their cycling clothing including jacket, top and pants, while 'frequent cyclists with high fashion involvement' preferred more diverse colors and tones. In the cycling clothing market, white and black were major colors, while red, orange and blue were major colors of chromatic color. In terms of shade, dark shade dominated the market. Comparing between preferred color and preferred product color, black was preferred for both, but no other colors showed such tendency. This study is based on empirical analysis and verification of color, which is the emotional element appealing to specific and segmented sports-apparel market. The study revealed that the data could be applicable to the design of future products.
As a part of the study for the materials development of compound feelings, therefore, this study investigated into the effects of the colors of warp and weft on the overall colors of fabrics, along with the visual changes of colors by the measuring angle of both warp and weft, by means of cross-dyeing of cotton/PET union fabrics. First, the dyeing of cotton and PET fabrics individually with the same color, the dyeing of PET fabrics followed by that of cotton fabrics resulted in a small difference in color than the dyeing in the reversed order. Second, in the case of the dyeing of cotton/PET union fabrics with the color of one fiber fixed and that of the other in ten colors, the color of cotton fiber, which is warp, gave much influence. In addition, the color change was remarkable among complementary colors, while it was negligible among adjacent colors. Third, in the case of dyeing of cotton/PET union fabrics with the color of one fiber fixed and that of the other in ten colors, the results were different by the measuring angle. When PET was fixed in green and cotton was dyed in ten colors, color-deepening was observed by the inclination in the direction of warp and weft without the dominance over all colors like cotton. When cotton was dyed in red and PET in ten colors, the color of PET appeared dimly in the horizontal case by the direction of the light, and red appeared as inclined in the direction of warp and weft. This is because of the dominance of cotton color over the overall color, since the density of cotton fiber, the warp of union fabrics, is higher than that of PET, the weft. Thus, this is to be considered in the selection of the warp's color. In view of the above results, the color changes are outstanding when the color of warp dominates the overall color and when the colors of warp and weft are complementary, in comparison with the case when the colors are adjacent. The colors also change by the measuring angle.
The New Silver Generation, which includes retired baby boomers, is eschewing traditional lifestyles, remaining socially and economically active, and striving to enjoy their lives. It is necessary to understand the preferences, sensibilities, and fashion propensities of such individuals. Thus, this study analyzed the New Silver Generation's fashion color preferences and proposed fashion color scheme guidelines that could be used in the fashion industry. First, surveys were conducted in people of the New Silver Generation aged from 55 to 65 years. The survey questions included the following: fashion color preferences, fashion sensibility and taste preferences, fashion interests, lifestyle, and demographic background. Second, the survey was conducted to identify differences in color preferences based on respondents' fashion interests and lifestyles. Next, to compose color palettes for the survey, 45 colors from the Munsell color system were chosen at random. The major research results were as follows: It was shown that socializing- and health-preferring individuals wore achromatic color, leisure-preferring individuals wore P color, and self-preferring individuals wore B color. The commonly worn colors were achromatic colors. After the age of 55 years, health- and leisure-preferring individuals often wore R color and RP color, respectively. Thus, this study proposed a color scheme arrangement that used achromatic colors, such as black and white, as the main colors list for the four lifestyle types.
Background: Temporary crown resins are used prior to prosthesis placement, indicating the importance of aesthetics. The aim of this study was evaluate the color stability of various staining solutions according to the color of temporary crown resins using VITA EasyshadeⓇ V. Methods: The temporary crowns used were the powder-liquid type and included four shades. A total of 36 specimens were fabricated in the form of disks with a diameter of 1.8 mm and a depth of 2 mm. They were divided into four groups of nine each, and staining was performed for seven days by precipitation in 3 mL of three staining solutions composed of distilled water, black coffee, and red wine. Color and color stability evaluations were performed by a trained examiner using a digital spectrophotometer (VITA EasyshadeⓇ V). Color stability was analyzed using the ΔE value. Results: Because of the color stability evaluation using the ΔE value, the difference between three and seven days was significant in the specimen I and III groups (p<0.05). Further, post hoc analysis showed that the ΔE value of red wine was significant, indicating that the color stability in red wine was low. The ΔE values in group II between days three and seven were statistically significant (p<0.05). Post hoc analysis showed that distilled water, coffee, and wine had the highest ΔE values on day three. On day seven, the ΔE value for wine was significant, and the color stability was low. There was no significant difference in group IV according to the staining period and staining solution; therefore, color stability was high (p>0.05). Conclusion: This study showed that most temporary resin restorations exhibited color stability in the staining solution. The darker the color of the temporary resin restoration, the higher the color stability against extrinsic staining.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the elementary pre-service teachers' conceptions of 'color of gases' focusing on the survey from freshmen at a National University of Education. For the study, the views about 'color of gases' were surveyed from the pre-service teachers. And the responses were analyzed based on the patterns. The results from the study are as follows: First, the conceptions about 'color of gases' were divided into 2 top-level, 5 mid-level and 7 sub-level categories. Second, the number of students who answered 'certain gas has color' was significantly greater than those who answered 'every gas has no color'. However, only a small number of students who answered former understand the scientific meaning of color and the color of gases correctly. Third, out of 5 misconception categories, greater number of students answered with 'inaccurate scientific knowledge (Ma1)', so the category was classified again into five detailed sub-categories. Fourth, most of the students, who answered 'every gas has no color', stated "they have not seen any color gases through their lives" based on their own experience. Fifth, the distribution percentage for scientific conceptions vs misconceptions was not related with the students' gender but highly related with students' academic area and their science courses taken at high school. Sixth, the pre-service teachers have various types of misconceptions regarding the 'color of gases' and when they have to explain visibility of gases to other people they tend to pass on their misconceptions. Based on the results from the study, some educational guidelines were suggested.
The study has objective in raising value of the gray color as a meaningful color suiting sentiments of modern people by expressing the gray color in various perspective utilizing natural dyes that is natural at the same time having aesthetic color tones. For example, the main ingredient used for coloring black and gray color is the pyrogallol tannin and the gray tone dye can be acquired by combining the tannin with iron. In order to find the suitable condition for processing tannin, UV-Vis part absorption spectrum of Gallapple pyrogallol tannin, dye ability based on temperature and time, reflection rate based on concentration, color changes based on acid treatment and alkali treatment, changes on surface based on concentration or metal mordant condition, and lightfastness were measured. Maximum absorption wavelength (${\lambda}_{max}$) of Gallapple tannin was at around 273 nm, while strong absorption was also observed at below 350 nm. Dye ability of Gallapple tannin is done more easily on silk rather than cellulose fibers such as cotton, while the optimum condition for dyeing was observed to be at $60^{\circ}C$, for 20 minutes. As a result of acid treatment, the color of dye material consist highly of gray tones and showed red tone after the alkali treatment. While it was observed that as dye concentration and metal mordant concentration increased the color changed at counter-clockwise direction on the Y-scale of Munsell's scale of colors. Lightfastness was more on a normal fading. I hope this study opens up possibilities towards presenting gray color expressed from tannin as color with diversity and aesthetic value. In future, comparative study between dye expressed from catechol tannin dye materials will be helpful.
Based on Goethe's color theory, this study presented concepts and classification methods through the following research methods for the purpose of defining sensory, emotional, and experiential colors as spatial colors in digital space. First, the concept of spatial color is defined through theoretical consideration and three (3) types of spatial color are classified as the surface, outline, and physical colors. Secondly, the study includes the characteristics of digital space and color sensory type. Third, based on the identified color sensory type through the previous theoretical consideration, the four (4) categorized digital spatial color were derived and presented as techno Chromatic, S.E.N.S.E, pixel, and blur colors were determined and proposed. Based on such research contents, this study is meaningful in that it systematized the meaning of Goethe's color theory in the present age through digital spatial color.
