The residential and welfare facilities for the elderly are continuously increasing due to change of value on family under situation of aging population increase. And it is predicted that accommodation capacity of facilities for the elderly and its rate those facilities takes compared to whole social welfare facilities will be accelerated considering past increase speed. On the other hand, about 60% of the elderly have low physical and mental level almost close to disabled people therefore special environmental concerns helping their independent living are necessary. Among them, color application is one of the most important factors for smooth understanding, communication and psychological remedy effect for them. The purpose of this study is to analyze the interior color status in assisted living facilities for the elderly in America which is a leading country in terms of the understanding and policy for the elderly as a part of the research project to suggest the developed solution about the Korean residential welfare facilities for the elderly For this purpose, not only importance and effect of color and visual characteristics and reaction to color in elderly environment but also general concept and policy of the ‘assisted living facility’ in America were researched through documents review. And measuring of color on 5 main spaces such ; lobby/lounge, corridor, dining room, bedroom, stairway/ramp of the 10 facilities in America were performed under analysis of its functional and aesthetic level based on Moon & Spencer's color theory.
Easy and simple synthesis of CdSe nanocrystals was achieved through sol-gel process. CdSe nanocrystals were synthesized from the reaction of cadmium oxide and selenium in the prescence of trioctylphosphine oxide, tributylphosphine, octadecene, octadecylamine, and stearic acid. The effect of reaction temperature for the determination of size of CdSe nanocrystals was investigated after the addition of selenium. The reaction temperature for the growth of CdSe nanocrystals was increased by every $20^{\circ}C$ from 170 to 190, 210, 230, 250, 270, and $290^{\circ}C$. When the reaction temperature was higher, the absorption wavelength in the absorption spectrum was increased which indicated that the size of CdSe nanocrystals was increased. The emission wavelength in the photoluminescence spectrum was increased from 438 to 489, 542, 591, 643, 692, and 745 nm, as the size of CdSe nanocrystals was increased. The control of the reaction temperature illustrated that the color tuning of emission wavelength were successfully obtained.
Textile wastewater from the Pusan Dyeing Industrial Complex (PDIC) was treated utilizing a two-stage continuous system, composed of an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor and an activated Sludge reactor. The effects of color and organic leading rates were studied by varying the hydraulic retention time and influent glucose concentration. The maximum color load to Satisfy the legal discharge limit of color intensity in Korea (400 ADMI, unit of the American Dye Manufacturers Institute) was estimated to be 2,700 $ADMI{\cdot}L^{-1}\;day^{-1}$. This study Indicates that the two-stage anaerobic/aerobic reaction system is potentially useful in the treatment of textile wastewater.
This study investigated the properties and functions of wool and silk dyed with Catechu by examining the effects of dying conditions such as dye concentration, dying temperature, dyeing time, pH level and pre-mordants. These conditions were examined in relation to dye uptake and color changes, washing fastness, light fastness, ultraviolet-cut ability and antimicrobial ability of the dyed fabrics. Catechu showed good affinity to silk fiber. Langmuir adsorption isotherm was obtained, and so it was considered that ionic bondings are formed between Catechu and protein fiber. As the dyeing time and temperature is increased, the dyeability of both silk and wool fabrics also increases. At high temperatures the color of dyed fabrics changes from Y and YR to R. Wool is effective in using Al, Cu, Fe mordant, while silk is effective only in using only Cu mordants. The dyeability was shown to be improved at low pH levels. Additionally, both washing fastness and light fastness were shown to be low. However, the fabric color gradually changed to red was due to mailard reaction of catechol tannin causingby repeated washing and sunlight. The ultraviolet-cut ability was improved for cotton fabric dyed with Catechu. Also, dyed fabric with Catechu showed very good antimicrobial abilities at 99.9%.

The Covid-19 pandemic has increased demand for chlorine-based sanitizing solutions, most of which contain hypochlorous acid (HOCl) as an active agent. Free chlorine (HOCl) in these sanitizers is crucial for their efficacy. Disposable test strips are affordable and convenient tools for determining various qualitative and quantitative parameters. In this study, disposable opto-chemical test strips were developed by physically immobilizing 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and o-dianisidine (o-D) reagents on chromatography and filter paper-based test strips for the visualization and detection of free chlorine in the form of HOCl. The reagents undergo a rapid color change upon reaction with chlorine through a redox reaction. The paper-based test strips showed rapid color change within a minute and a low sample volume requirement (1 ml). This portable, disposable paper-based test strip is a simple and cost-effective way to rapidly detect the presence of HOCl sanitizers for home and field applications. Both TMB and o-D successfully detected chlorine. Chromatography paper proved to be the more efficient option among the two papers used as substrates for the reagents (TMB and o-D). It exhibited high retention capacity and high performance in terms of color transformation when reacting with HOCl, even after two months of storage.
With a general trend toward larger and more complex systems with centralized control, an operator's role of supervisory decision making in the control room becomes more important. Identification of potential man-machine interface (MMI) problems with CRT-based process control systems was attempted using a structured questionnaire survey. Based on the survey results, a laboratory experiment was carried out to investigate the performance of alarm detection on a process control CRT display. The user performance was measured in terms of reaction time from the onset of an alarm sound until the completion of predefined response procedures. The results revealed that for a highly complex tasks, mean reaction time ($\bar{RT}$) with a color consistent display was 10.5% faster than that with the original display, and $\bar{RT}$ with a grouped display was reduced by 8.2% in comparison with the color consistent display.
In this study, we synthesized p-hexyloxybenzaldehyde(HBA) by using p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and n-hexylchloride. p-dodecylaniline(DDA) prepared by nitration and reduction of dodecylbenzene. The schiff base, p-dodecylbenzylidene-$p^\prime$-hexyloxyaniline (DBHA) was synthesized by reaction of HBA and DDA. The color of synthetic compound was pale-brown and the yield was 62%. All the synthetic compounds were identified by TLC, FT-IR and ${^{i}H}$-NMR.In this study, we synthesized p-hexyloxybenzaldehyde(HBA) by using p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and n-hexylchloride. p-dodecylaniline(DDA) prepared by nitration and reduction of dodecylbenzene. With the increase of ZnO content, heat of hydration decreased. For specimens containing ZnO more than 0.6 wt.%, the compressive stength of cement cured for 28 days could not be measured because setting was not occurred. With the increase of ZnO content, Blaine specific surface area of cement was decreased and the residue of 45 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 90 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ was increased when cement was ground. That is, grindability became worse as ZnO increased in clinker. The difference of color as a function of ZnO content could not be observed, but in the excess of amount of ZnO added, color became more white and reddish yellow.
The objective of this study was to remove organics and color in livestock wastewater using coagulation and Fenton oxidation process. After coagulation process as $1^{st}$ treatment, organics in $1^{st}$ treatment water were removed by using OH radical produced in Fenton oxidation process. Removal efficiencies of $COD_{Mn}$ and color were 87.2% and 95.7% separately. At that time, the ratio of $Fe^{2+}/H_2O_2$ was 0.8~1.0, and range of reaction pH was effective at the pH of 3.5~3.8. The Reaction time of 120min more than 60min or 90min was sufficient in Fenton process. Removal efficiency of organics was higher two- or multi-stage treatment than one-stage treatment.
Twenty two rhizobacteria were isolated from the roots and rhizosphere of radish, carnation, potato and tomato. There isolates produced a fluorescent pigment in King's B medium and identified as Pseudomonas spp. These isolates colonized roots and rhizosphere of the host plants. In the study of cultural characteristics of the bacteria, the pH of the culture broth was changed from neutral (7.0) to alkali (8.8∼9.41) and the numbers of cells were increased from 106 to 108 after 40 hr of incubation in basal standard succinate medium. The salicylic acid production identified by pink color reaction were observed in 7 bacteria. Out of these 7 salicylic acid producing bacteria, only 2 strains of bacteria such as Pseudomonas fluorescens RS006, and Pseudomonas sp. EN401 were confirmed as salicylic acid producers by optical density measurement. Therefore, for screening of salicylic acid producing bacteria from the roots and rhizosphere, color reaction of the culture medium should be done in the first step, and then optical density measurement of culture extract should be made for the confirmation of salicylic acid production.
