  • The purpose of this paper is to produce color harmony code based on color harmony prototype in terms of environmental color design. This paper proposes ways of categorizing more accurate color harmony prototype through digital image processing by the computer program called the Color Syntax. The method of analysis adopted in this paper is pixel based color image processing. The study suggests color harmony prototype which are categorized by a color harmony angles. These angles represented internal relations between colors. This study describes development processes of color harmony prototype which is a basis for creating color harmony codes. Development processes of color harmony schema consists of color analysis, color codes generation and color selection. Also, how to analyze color images and to chose suitable harmony color codes among various codes are main research issues. As a final result, 109 color harmony codes have been obtained. These code numbers are suggested through rotating 2 color pairs in a 360-degree arc in the same color harmony angles, the codes which is applicable to the color harmony schema previously developed. This color harmony codes will produce better color environment in a sense that it will help designers to maximally reduce their time consumption, and the results of their designs will also be related to the use of proper color for regional environments.

  • CMAC model was proposed by Albus [6] to formulate the processing characteristics of the human cerebellum. Instead of the global weight updating scheme used in the back propagation, CMAC use the local weight updating scheme. Therefore, CMAC have the advantage of fast learning and high convergence rate. In this paper, simulate Color Calibration by CMAC in color images and design hardware by VHDL-base high-level synthesis.

  • Tongue diagnosis is an important diagnostic method in traditional Oriental medicine. It has been especially accepted that quantitative analysis of tongue images allows the accurate diagnosis of the exterior-interior and cold-heat patterns of a patient. However, to ensure stable and reliable results, the color reproduction of such images must first be error-tree. Moreover, tongue diagnosis is much influenced by the surrounding illumination and subjective color recognition, so it has to be performed objectively and quantitatively using a digital diagnostic machine. In this study, 457 tongue images of outpatients were collected using the Digital Tongue Inspection System. Through statistical analysis, the result shows that the heat and cold patterns can be distinguished clearly based on the hue value of the tongue images. The average hue value (1.00) of the tongue's image in the cold pattern is higher than that in the heat pattern (0.99).

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the Characteristics of Fashion Trends($1996{\sim}2005$) of Korea by the trend elements - style, fabric and color. The results of this study are as followed. During 10years, 'modern(18%)', 'elegant(11%)' and 'romantic(10%)' styles were shown in order, and colors of YR(17%), Y(14%), R(13%) and PB(11%) were shown in order. Considering tones, m(16%), d(12%), gy(11%) and s(10%) tones were in the order of frequency. In the fabric trend 'elegant(19%)', 'modern(14%)' and 'natural(14%)' images showed the high frequency. Since 2000's, style trends and fabric trends were subdivided, and the contrary images coexisted. The trend images of 'natural', 'retro', 'manish' and 'fun' were mainly used in fabric trend, and 'romantic' and 'classic' images were frequently used in style trend. The changes of trend images in style and fabric have been similar until the early 2000's but the cycle of trend of style became shorter than fabric trend. Therefore the cycle of fabric trend should be changed to be a short term and subdivided in company with style trend.

  • In this paper, we propose a technique for retrieving images using spatial color correlation and texture characteristics based on local fourier transform. In order to retrieve images, two new descriptors are proposed. One is a color descriptor which represents spatial color correlation. The other is a descriptor combining the proposed color descriptor with texture descriptor. Since most of existing color descriptors including color correlogram which represent spatial color correlation considered just color distribution between neighborhood pixels, the structural information of neighborhood pixels is not considered. Therefore, a novel color descriptor which simultaneously represents spatial color distribution and structural information is proposed. The proposed color descriptor represents color distribution of Min-Max color pairs calculating color distance between center pixel and neighborhood pixels in a block with 3x3 size. Also, the structural information which indicates directional difference between minimum color and maximum color is simultaneously considered. Then new color descriptor(min-max color correlation descriptor, MMCCD) containing mean and variance values of each directional difference is generated. While the proposed color descriptor includes by far smaller feature vector over color correlogram, the proposed color descriptor improves 2.5 % ${\sim}$ 13.21% precision rate, compared with color correlogram. In addition, we propose a another descriptor which combines the proposed color descriptor and texture characteristics based on local fourier transform. The combined method reduces size of feature vector as well as shows improved results over existing methods.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the visual images of shirts according to coloration and the interval of checked patterns. The experimental stimulus and questionnaires for scaling response were developed for this study. The stimuli were 12 color pictures, in which the gender, coloration(WG: white+gray, WK: white+black, GK: gray+black), and interval(0.5 cm, 1.5 cm, 3.5 cm, 5.5 cm) were manipulated. The 7-point rating scale was used for evaluation of the visual image. Data were obtained from 144 male college students and 144 female college students living in Gyeonggi, Gyeongnam, Seoul, Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan on December 2009. For data analysis, ANOVA and the Duncan-test were used by using the SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows; the visual images for shirts according to the coloration and interval of checked patterns consisted of four dimensions of attractiveness, appeal, youth, and modesty. Gender was the main factor when looking at attractiveness. Coloration had the main effect on appeal, youth, and modesty. Also, there was a significant interaction effect of gender and coloration on attractiveness, while there was a significant interaction effect of coloration and interval on modesty.

  • Lung cancer is considered to be the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. A technique commonly used consists of analyzing sputum images for detecting lung cancer cells. However, the analysis of sputum is time consuming and requires highly trained personnel to avoid errors. The manual screening of sputum samples has to be improved by using image processing techniques. In this paper we present a Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) system for early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer based on the analysis of the sputum color image with the aim to attain a high accuracy rate and to reduce the time consumed to analyze such sputum samples. In order to form general diagnostic rules, we present a framework for segmentation and extraction of sputum cells in sputum images using respectively, a Bayesian classification method followed by region detection and feature extraction techniques to determine the shape of the nuclei inside the sputum cells. The final results will be used for a (CAD) system for early detection of lung cancer. We analyzed the performance of a Bayesian classification with respect to the color space representation and quantification. Our methods were validated via a series of experimentation conducted with a data set of 100 images. Our evaluation criteria were based on sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.

  • Motion tracking and object segmentation are the most fundamental and critical problems in vision tasks suck as motion analysis. An active contour model, snake, was developed as a useful segmenting and tracking tool for rigid or non-rigid objects. Snake is designed no the basis of snake energies. Segmenting and tracking can be executed successfully by energy minimization. In this research, two new paradigms for segmentation and tracking are suggested. First, because the conventional method uses only intensity information, it is difficult to separate an object from its complex background. Therefore, a new energy and design schemes should be proposed for the better segmentation of objects. Second, conventional snake can be applied in situations where the change between images is small. If a fast moving object exists in successive images, conventional snake will not operate well because the moving object may have large differences in its position or shape, between successive images. Snakes's nodes may also fall into the local minima in their motion to the new positions of the target object in the succeeding image. For robust tracking, the condensation algorithm was adopted to control the parameters of the proposed snake model called "adaptive color snake model(SCSM)". The effectiveness of the ACSM is verified by appropriate simulations and experiments.
