To study the behavioral reaction of common squid Todarodes pacificus, to different colors of LED light, individual distribution in the dark condition without LED light stimuli, individual distribution when four colors of light stimuli were at the sections of end and middle of water tank and the changes of gathering rates as the elapse of illuminating time were examined. When it was dark, the distribution of the fish in each section of the tank was U-shape regardless of the investigating time intervals, which means that Todarodes pacificus gathered at the both ends of the tank. The individual distribution when light stimuli were at the one end of the tank showed the tendency of gathering at the illuminated section and decreasing at the opposite section. There were 448 of them at the end of the tank when the light was blue, 352 when white, 302 when green and 132 when red. Thus the fish liked blue light the most, followed by white light. The variations of gathering rate at the both ends of tank as illuminating time elapsed showed the tendency of increasing at the light section (A section), however, it showed the tendency of decreasing at the darkest section (F section). The individual distribution showed the tendency of letter $\wedge$ of gathering at the center and decreasing at the both ends mostly when the light stimuli were at the middle section of tank. The gathering rates at the lighting section were 80.4% when red, 76.4% when white, 69.6% when green and 56.7% when blue. The fishes showed the affinity for the red light mostly, followed by the white light source. The red light and blue light showed the opposite when the light stimuli were at the one end of water tank. The variations of gathering rates as the elapse of time at the lighted section showed the tendency of gradual increasing in the four light sources. The color of light source showing the highest gathering rate within 25-30 minutes of light stimuli was the white, followed by the red.

Considering the difficulties associated with the creation of deterioration maps for stone cultural heritages, quantitative determination of chemical and biological contaminants in them is still challenging. Hyperspectral image analysis has been proposed to overcome this drawback. In this study, hyperspectral imaging was performed on Stone Buddhas Temple in Four Directions at Gulbulsa Temple Site(Treasure 121), and several surface contaminants were observed. Based on the color and shape, these chemical and biological contaminants were classified into ten categories. Additionally, a method for establishing each class as a reference image was suggested. Simultaneously, with the help of Spectral Angle Mapper algorithm, two classification methods were used to classify the surface contaminants. Method A focused on the region of interest, while method B involved the application of the spectral library prepared from the image. Comparison of the classified images with the reference image revealed that the accuracies and kappa coefficients of methods A and B were 52.07% and 63.61%, and 0.43 and 0.55, respectively. Additionally, misclassified pixels were distributed in the same contamination series.
Two new marine sponges of family Tedaniidae, Tedania (Tedon iu) songakensis n. sp. and Tedania (Tedonia) sasuensis n. sp. were collected from Jeju Island and Chuja Island, Korea between 2004 and 2005. T. (T.) songakensis n. sp. is similar to T (T.) purpurescen Bergquist and Fromont, 1988 based on its type of spicules, but is distinguished from growth form and size of small onychaetes. The growth form of this species is massive, and is compared with thin encrusting of Tedania (T.) purpurescen. The onychaetes of the new species is twice as long as that of T. (T.) purpurescen. T. (T.) sasuensis n. sp. is closely related to T. (T.) connectens (Bronsted, 1924) in type of spicules. However, it is different in size of onychaetes and growth form. The large onychaetes of new species is larger than that of T (T.) connectens. The small onychaetes of new species is smaller than that of T. (T.) connectens. The growth form is massive in new species, but thick encrustins in T.(T.) connectens. And T. (T.) songakensis n. sp. is similar to T. (T.) sasuensis n. sp. in growth form. However, the former is widely different from the latter in shape, color and size of all spicules.

In this paper, we propose a traffic lights detection method using visual attention and spot-lights detection. To detect traffic lights in city streets at day and night time, the proposed method is used the structural form of a traffic lights such as colors, intensity, shape, textures. In general, traffic lights are installed at a position to increase the visibility of the drivers. The proposed method detects the candidate traffic lights regions using the top-down visual saliency model and spot-lights detect models. The visual saliency and spot-lights regions are positions of its difference from the neighboring locations in multiple features and multiple scales. For detecting traffic lights, by not using a color thresholding method, the proposed method can be applied to urban environments of variety changes in illumination and night times.

This study was carried out to establish seed propagation method of Hydrangea petiolaris Siebold & Zucc., one of the specific and protected plant species for the floral region. Seed size ranged $1.36{\times}0.84mm$, weight of thousand seeds was $2.3{\pm}0.02mg$. Observation of seed morphology characters showed wrinkled surface and elliptical shape, indicating amber color and fine seeds. Moisture contents of seeds, increased rapidly by water-soaking treatment, recording maximum moisture contents (31.9%) after 48 hours. Percent germination of seeds was higher under the light than dark condition. Seed germination was the best at $25^{\circ}C$ under the light condition (78.0%) among temperature and light conditions treated. Percent germination, germination energy and $T_{50}$ was greatly improved by soaking in $GA_3$ solutions for 48 hours. Especially, $100{\sim}500mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$$GA_3$ treatment resulted in the highest germination rate as 90.0% and above.
Rock classification is fundamental discipline of exploring geological and geotechnical features in a site, which, however, may not be easy works because of high diversity of rock shape and color according to its origin, geological history and so on. With the great success of convolutional neural networks (CNN) in many different image-based classification tasks, there has been increasing interest in taking advantage of CNN to classify geological material. In this study, a feasibility of the deep CNN is investigated for automatically and accurately identifying rock types, focusing on the condition of various shapes and colors even in the same rock type. It can be further developed to a mobile application for assisting geologist in classifying rocks in fieldwork. The structure of CNN model used in this study is based on a deep residual neural network (ResNet), which is an ultra-deep CNN using in object detection and classification. The proposed CNN was trained on 10 typical rock types with an overall accuracy of 84% on the test set. The result demonstrates that the proposed approach is not only able to classify rock type using images, but also represents an improvement as taking highly diverse rock image dataset as input.
In order to induce the mutants of Gentiana axillariflora Leveille, nodes were cultured on Schenk and Hilderbrandt (SH) medium containing TDZ 2 mg/L, BAP 2mg/L, GA3 0.5 mg/L and 0.1 mg/L NAA and each mutagen of ethylmethanesulfate (EMS), colchicine, N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU), and sodium azide (NaN$_3$) through filtration. Comparision of morphological characteristics and survival rate in each mutant plants differed depending on mutagen sources and their concentrations. When EMS were treated on nodes, the regenerated plants was thin and albino, regenerated shoots appeared 'erectoides type' and get twisted. The case of colchicine were treated on nodes, the survival rate was from 84% to 97% at ail concentration after 30days but the rate of survival was decreased about 50% at 200 $\mu$M after 60days. The treatment of NaN$_3$200 $\mu$M was not survived. The survival rate was extremely decreased in MNU treatment at 500$\mu$M, according to concentrations two types of leaf characteristic were obtained. Type I of leaf characteristic was modified from oblanceolate to oboid at leaf shape and type II of leaf characteristic was modified from light green to dark violet at leaf color. RAPD analysis was carried out to check the genetic modification of regenerated plants by mutagen treatments. Three polymorphic DNA fragments out of thirty-seven obtained by RAPDs were observed in regenerated plants using 5 decamer primers.
The Geumganasa Temple site two Ridege-end tiles at the Buyeo National Museum(The Buyeo2150-1 and 2150-2, hereinafter referred to as 2150-1 and 2150-2) were excavated the Geumgangsa Temple site. They provide important materials for investigating the shapes and production techniques of the ridge-end tiles of the time since their lower portions remain relatively intact. This study is intended to examine whether the two ridge-end tiles were identical. Conservation treatment, including removal of foreign substances, was conducted in preparation for observation with the naked eye to compare the formal features and production techniques of the two examples. The study revealed that these ridge-end tiles shared formal features such as surface color, clay composition, shape, size, and decoration; however, they differed in terms of production technique. The 2150-1 tile was made by assembling a separately-made body and wing and has no hole through the back, while the 2150-2 tile had its body and wing made as a single unit using long clay plates and features circular holes in the back. It was revealed that one portion of the body of both tiles was intentionally tilted during the production process.
Precambrian Jirisan gneiss complex suffered retrograde metamorphism ranging from granulite facies to the amphibolite facies and/or greenschist facies. Intrusive anorthositic rocks in gneiss complex are influenced by late metamorphism. Mafic mineral in anorthositic rock composed mainly of amphiboles, which can anticipate the information about metamorphic conditions and metamorphic facies. Amphiboles from anorthositic rock show subhedral to anhedral in shape and mostly blueish green and/or green in colour in plane polarized light. Some of brownish amphiboles show zonal texture with brownish to blueish green in color from core to rim. Reaction parts in clinopyroxene which exchange with amphibole. It suggests retrograde metamorphism and/or alteration. Amphiboles composing anorthositic rocks can be classified into two types depending on the size and occurrence of amphibole. The first type is microcrystalline amphibole occurring matrix [Group I: ferrohornblende]. The second type is amphibole with 1 mm or larger in size, which is usually occurred in the boundary between opaque mineral and plagioclase [Group II: ferropargasite]. Electron microscopic analyses base on the $Al^{vi}$ composition in amphiboles suggest that the metamorphic pressure of anorthositic rock was low with 5 kbar or less. Ti compositional range in amphibole and representing hornblende+ plagioclase+garnet+biotite+chlorite mineral assemblage suggest that metamorphic facies of anorthositic rock is in amphibolite facies.
In present study, an alternative process for manufacturing ultra marine blue by using kaolin, sulfur, sodium carbonate, silica, and rosin was investigated. From the experiments, it was found in the reductive calcination process that the temperature variation with the bed height of input materials is relatively high due to the inadequate thermal conductivity of them. It was also found that the color of the ultramarine blue manufactured is sensitive for the shape of the input materials and the calcinations conditions, and specially the heating rate is very important to form ultramarine. For manufacturing green ultramarine by using sulfur, sodium carbonate, silicon, and pine resin, an optimum condition was investigated to be the heating rate region below $0.6^{\circ}C/min$, the reaction temperature of $850^{\circ}C$ and the reaction time of 4 hr. At the oxidative calcination process to manufacture ultra marine blue from green ultramarine, the optimum flow rate of air is $500{\sim}550\;{\ell}/kg$ (green ultramarine) and the reaction temperature is $500{\sim}550^{\circ}C$.
