  • A duplex system enhances reliability by tolerating faults through spatial redundancy. Faults can be detected by duplicating identical tasks in pairs of modules. However, this kind of systems cannot even detect the fault if it occurs coincidently due to either malfunctions of common component such as power supply and clock or due to such environmental disruption as EMI. In the paper, we propose a method to reduce those effects of coincident faults in the duplex controller computer. Specifically, a duplex system tolerates coincident faults by using a sophistication sequencing of scheduling technique with certain timing redundancy. In particular when all tasks should be completed in the sense of real-time, the suggested scheduling method works properly to minimize the probability of faulty tasks due to coincident fault without missing the timing constraints.

  • Conventional stimulus patterns have used DC for discrimination of acupoint and meridian which is the basic object of diagnosis and medical treatment in oriental medicine. Those discriminate conduction points by stimulation on body skin with DC. But, it is insufficient to reliability in discrimination ratio, coincident ratio, body effect, reproductivity. Therefore, this paper has extracted the optimal parameter of frequency and waveform in order to improve conventional pattern, and proposed the SPAC(Single Power Alternative Current) stimulus pattern applying that. Also, We proposes algorithm which is able to discriminate with low pressure of the electrode by displaying in the level meter both the absolution and relation value of the skin current. It can decrease pain and body effect by electrode pressure and discriminate acupoint regardless of skin current in difficult discrimination spot. We have compared the performance of system applying the extracted optimal parameter and algorithm. We have compared discrimination, coincident ratio of both conduction point and traditional acupoints by acupoint stimulation pattern. In the results, we confirmed reliability of SPAC stimulus pattern.

  • Published employment statistics do not provide enough information about the relationship of unemployment and economic and business conditions. This study investigates long-run equilibrium relations and short-run adjustment process of unemployment and discouraged unemployment with major price variables in the business coincident and lagging framework. Speed of adjustment from short-run disequilibrium to long-run equilibrium is found to be relatively faster for discouraged unemployment that appears more responsive to changes in most of explanatory variables. Discouraged unemployment is found to reflect reality and suggested to be a more meaningful statistical index.

  • Objective: This study evaluated the influence of various gingival displays on the esthetic perception in the presence of upper dental midline discrepancy. Methods: A smiling image of a male subject was altered digitally to produce five image series: normal smile (series A), decreased tooth show (series B), increased gingival show (series C), maxillary cant (series D), and asymmetric upper lip elevation (series E). In each image series, the midline was deviated to the right and left incrementally. A total of 210 raters (four professional groups and laypersons, n = 42 in each group) determined the midline deviation threshold and the attractiveness of midline position in each series. Results: The right and left thresholds were statistically similar for the symmetrical series (A, B, and C), while for series D, the right threshold was significantly lower. In most rater groups, the mean threshold order was: B > A > E > C > D. In all the series, the raters selected the coincident midline as the most attractive series except for series D, for which 1-2-mm deviations to the left were selected as the most attractive by almost all the groups. Conclusions: It is crucial to establish the coincident midline position in a symmetrical smile, especially when a gummy smile exists. In the asymmetrical gingival show, a coincident midline might not be the most esthetic midline position.

  • Purpose: The main objective of this research is to construct an AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model to achieve accurate predictions of the Composite Index of Business Indicators. By incorporating various economic indicators as independent variables, the ACSI model enables the prediction and analysis of both the leading index (CLI) and coincident index (CCI). Methods: This study proposes an AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model that leverages diverse economic indicators as independent variables to forecast leading and coincident economic indicators. To evaluate the model's performance, advanced machine learning techniques including MLP, RNN, LSTM, and GRU were employed. Furthermore, the study explores the potential of employing deep learning models to train the weights associated with the independent variables that constitute the composite supplementary index. Results: The experimental results demonstrate the superior accuracy of the proposed composite supple- mentary index model in predicting leading and coincident economic indicators. Consequently, this model proves to be highly effective in forecasting economic cycles. Conclusion: In conclusion, the developed AI-based Composite Supplementary Index (ACSI) model successfully predicts the Composite Index of Business Indicators. Apart from its utility in management, economics, and investment domains, this model serves as a valuable indicator supporting policy-making and decision-making processes related to the economy.

  • Crystallographic models are effective tools to interpret, calculate and even to predict the preferred crystallographic morphologies of precipitates in various precipitation systems. The present study gives an introduction on the recently developed secondary constrained coincident site lattice (II-CCSL) model. Using the II-CCSL model, the interface matching condition of the ${\beta}-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ precipitates with ${\alpha}-Mg$ matrix in an aged AZ91 alloy has been analyzed to rationalize the morphologies of the precipitates. The results show that the characteristic crystallographic features of the observed ${\beta}-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ precipitates, i.e., the habit plane of the ${\beta}-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ lath with a Burgers orientation relationship (OR) and the growth direction of the ${\beta}-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ with a Crawley OR exhibit a better lattice matching degree than their vicinal orientations. Moreover, the Crawley OR is preferred to the Burgers OR due to a better lattice match.

  • A coincidence gamma-ray spectroscopy method was applied to reduce the background radioactivity for measuring the activity of radioisotopes in a sample in the presence of environmental natural radioactivity. A HPGe detector was used for the coincident spectrum as a main detector and a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector for gating purposes as an associated detector. For coincidence spectroscopy the whole energy spectrum of associated detector was used instead of gate signals. The coincident events obtained from the gating spectrum was evaluated by a coincidence computer program in this study instead of timing circuit. In this work, the background of detection environment was reduced to factor 100 and peaks to be determined was reduced to factor 30 using the coincidence gamma-ray spectroscopy.

  • Relations between GMS-5 infrared brightness temperature with SSM/I retrieved rain rate are determined by a probability matching method similar to Atlas et al. and Crosson et al. For this study, coincident data sets of the GMS-5 infrared measurements and SSM/I data during two summer seasons of 1997 and 1998 are constructed. The cumulative density functions (CDFs) of infrared brightness temperature and rain rate are matched at pairs of two variables which give the same percentile contribution. The method was applied for estimating rain rate on 31 July 1998, examining heavy rainfall estimation of a flash flood event over Mt. Jiri. Results were compared with surface gauge observations run by Korean Meteorological Administration. It was noted that the method produced reasonably good quality of rain estimate, however, there was large area giving false rain due to the anvil type clouds surrounding deep convective clouds. Extensive validation against surface rain observation is currently under investigation.

  • The NOx emission characteristics were studied in an oscillating combustion burner equipped with a specially designed proportioning valve. The effects of various parameters on the NOx emission which are important in oscillating combustion were investigated. Also, the effects of coincident application of flue gas recirculation(FGR) were evaluated. The results show that oscillating combustion is an efficient tool for reducing NOx in the burner. Up to 53% of NOx reduction could be acquired in low frequency and small duty ratio conditions. The coincident application of FGR further reduced the NOx emission up to 74%. Thus, this study assured that oscillating combustion technology with FGR could be a fascinating method for NOx reduction in industrial burners.

  • Using the "belongs to" relation and "quasi-coincident with" relation between a fuzzy point and a fuzzy subgroup, Bhakat and Das, in 1992 and 1996, initiated general types of fuzzy subgroups which are a generalization of Rosenfeld's fuzzy subgroups. In this paper, more general notions of "belongs to" and "quasi-coincident with" relation between a fuzzy point and a fuzzy set are provided, and more general formulations of general types of fuzzy (normal) subgroups by Bhakat and Das are discussed. Furthermore, general type of coset is introduced, and related fundamental properties are investigated.
