점성균열 모델을 위한 국부단위분할이 적용된 무요소법 (A Meshless Method Using the Local Partition of Unity for Modeling of Cohesive Cracks)

  • 본 연구에서는 이차원 연속체에 존재하는 점성균열을 무요소법에서 국부 단위분할 원리에 근거하여 정식화하였다. 균열이 한 절점의 영향영역(domain of influence)을 완전히 통과하는 경우 그 절점의 형상함수는 계단함수로 확장되고, 균열 끝이 영향영역 내에 위치하는 경우 특이성이 제거된 가지함수(branch function)로 확장된다. 이러한 해의 영역의 확장은 국부 단위분할 원리를 만족하는 변위계에서만 이루어지므로, 약형 정식화는 표준 Galerkin방법에 의해서 얻어진다. 균열과 상호작용하는 영향영역만 확장되기 때문에, 성긴 형태의 시스템의 행렬을 유지하게 된다. 그러므로 확장에 의해 발생하는 계산비용의 증가는 최소화된다. 동적인 문제에서 균열성장에 관한 조건은 재료안정론으로부터 얻어졌다. 즉, 재료 한 점에서 어느 방향으로든 변형열화가 집중하게 되면, 그 방향에 점성균열을 삽입하여 연속체가 비연속체로 되도록 하였다. 균열의 성장속도도 같은 조건으로부터 자연스럽게 얻어졌다. 전통적인 무요소법보다 더 나은 정확도와 빠른 수렴성을 보이는 것이 확인되었으며, 이 기법의 적용성을 보이기 위해 잘 알려진, 정적 및 동적문제에 적용하였다.

Fracture Characteristics of Concrete at Early Ages

  • The objective of this study is to examine fracture characteristics of concrete at early ages, i.g. critical stress intensity factor, critical crack-tip opening displacement, fracture energy, and bilinear softening curve based on the concepts of effective-elastic crack model and cohesive crack model. A wedge splitting test for Mode I was performed on cubic wedge specimens with a notch at the edge. By experimenting with various strengths and ages, load-crack mouth opening curves were obtained, and the results were analyzed by linear elastic fracture mechanics and FEM(finite element method). The results from the test and analysis showed that critical stress intensity factor and facture energy increased while critical crack-tip opening displacement decreased with concrete aging from 1 day to 28 days. Four parameters of bilinear softening curve from 1 day to 28 days were obtained from a numerical analysis. The obtained fracture parameters and bilinear softening curves at early ages from this study are to be used as a fracture criterion and an input data for the finite element analysis of concrete at early ages.

남극 장보고기지 현장시료의 액상화거동 특성 연구 (A Study on the Liquefaction Behavior of Soil in Jangbogo Station)

  • 본 연구에서는 남극 장보고기지 부근에서 채취한 시료를 활용하여 동하중에 대한 액상화 저항특성을 파악하기 위하여 반복삼축시험을 실시하였다. 또한 기존문헌과의 비교를 통하여 남극에서 퇴적된 지반의 동적거동을 규명하였다. 시험결과 동일한 압밀응력비에 대한 반복회수와 축변형률 5%를 발생시키는데 필요한 반복응력비와의 관계는 모든 시료에서 초기액상화를 발생시킬 수 있는 반복응력비가 증가할수록 반복회수가 감소하였다. 세립분 함유량이 10%로 증가할수록 액상화 저항강도가 감소하다가 다시 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 점착력과 액상화 저항강도와의 관계는 세립분 함유량과 액상화 저항강도와의 관계와 같이 점착력이 증가할수록 액상화 저항강도도 감소하지만 어느 시점 이후에는 반복응력비가 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 또한, 마찰각과 평균입경이 증가할수록 반복응력비가 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다.

Crack behaviour of top layer in layered rocks

  • Open-mode cracks could be commonly observed in layered rocks. A concept model is firstly used to explore the mechanism of the vertical cracks (VCs) in the top layer. Then the crack behaviour of the two-layer model is simulated based on a cohesive zone model (CZM) for layer interfaces and a plastic-damage model for rocks. The model indicates that the tensile stress normal to the VCs changes to compression if the crack spacing to layer thickness ratio is lower than a threshold. The results indicate that there is a threshold for interfacial shear strength that controls the crack patterns of the layered system. If the shear strength is lower than the threshold, the top layer is meshed by the VCs and interfacial cracks (ICs). When the shear strength is higher than the threshold, the top layer is meshed by the VCs and parallel cracks (PCs). If the shear strength is comparative to the threshold, a combining pattern of VCs, PCs and ICs for the top layer can be formed. The evolutions of stress distribution in the crack-bound block indicate that the ICs and PCs can reduce the load transferred for the substrate layer, and thus leads to a crack saturation state.

주조용 알루미늄 합금의 $Al_2O_3-40%TiO_2$ 용사층에 대한 마멸특성 평가 (Evaluation of Wear Chracteristics for $Al_2O_3-40%TiO_2$Sprayed on Casted Aluminum Alloy)

  • The wear behavior of $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$deposited on casted aluminum alloy (ASTM A356) by APS (Air Plasma Spray) against SiC ball has been investigated in this work. Wear tests were carried out at room temperature. The friction coefficient of $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating is lower than that of pure $Al_2$O$_3$coating(APS). $Al_2$O$_3$-40%TiO$_2$coating indicated the existence of the optimal coating thickness. It is found that voids and pores of coating surface resulted in the generation of cracks, and the cohesive of splats and the porosity of surface play a role in wear characteristics. It is suggested that the mismatch of thermal expansion of substrate and coating play an important role in wear performance. Tension and compression under thermo-mechanical stress may be occurred by the mismatch between thermal expansion of substrate and coating. The crack propagation above interface is observed in SEM.

점성토의 회복 및 영구변형 특성 평가 (Evaluation of the Resilient and Permanent Behaviors of Cohesive Soils)

  • 교통하중이 작용하는 노반의 응력-변형율 간의 상관성의 특징을 나타내기 위하여 회복탄성계수가 사용되어왔다. 최근 도로의 경우 노반의 설계에 있어 AASHTO에서 제안된 역학적-경험적 설계가이드에 따라 회복탄성계소의 사용이 더욱 권장되는 실정이다. 이에 비해 국내 철도의 노반설계에 있어서는 정적실험 결과인 $K_{30}$이나 변형계수를 사용하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 철도노반의 설계에 있어 회복탄성계수의 적용 가능성에 대한 평가가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 14종의 점성토 흙에 대하여 회복 및 영구변형 특성에 대한 평가를 위하여 기본 물성실험, 일축압축실험 그리고 회복탄성계수 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 일축압축 실험결과와 접선탄성계수, 일축압축강도, 파괴시 변형율 첨두 강도에서의 할선탄성계수와 항복변형율을 바탕으로 회복탄성계수 추정을 위한 예측모델이 제안되었다. 본 연구에서 제안된 예측모델은 실측결과와의 비교시 만족할 만한 값을 보이는 것으로 확인되었다. 다만 회복탄성계수 실험시 발생하는 영구변형에 대해서는 현재 고려하고 있지 않다.

소구경말뚝의 축방향 거동에 대한 사례 연구 (Case History Evaluation of Axial Behavior of Micropiles)

  • 본 논문은 소구경말뚝의 현장시험결과를 조사하고 축방향 변위와 흙의 성질과의 상관관계에 따른 말뚝의 주변마찰력을 산정하기 위하여 종합적으로 검토하였다. 점착력과 비점착력의 성질을 가진 흙에 대하여 조사를 하였다. 현장적용 목적에 부합한 소구경말뚝의 하중-변위관계와 지반공학적 흙의 특성 그리고 흙의 종류에 대한 연구가 정규화평균값과 경험관계식을 통하여 이루어졌다. 대구경말뚝과 압력-그라우팅 설치 효과로 인한 소구경말뚝의 하중전이로 인한 지지력은 현저한 차이가 있었다. 특히 말뚝 근입깊이(D)와 말뚝 직경(B)의 비가 100보다 작은 얕은 깊이에서는 소구경말뚝이 대구경말뚝에 비해 현저하게 뛰어난 지지력을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었으며 점착력이 있는 흙에서는 약 1.5에서 최고 2.5배정도 비점착력인 흙에서는 약 1.5에서 2.5배 그리고 최고 6배의 지지력을 갖고 있음을 알 수 있다.

가철성 보철물의 금속면 처리방법이 열중합 레진과 금속간의 결합강도에 미치는 영향 (THE EFFECTS OF METAL SURFACE TREATMENTS ON THE BONE STRENGTH OF POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE BONDED REMOVABLE PROSTHESE)

  • Traditionally, many kinds of mechanical bonding techniques were used for bonding resins to the surface of the metal alloys. If there is a seperation between resin and metal junction by stress accumulation and temperature change of oral cavity, the cracks or crazing may occur, accompanied by failure of resin bonding to metal. This study was designed to compare the shear bond strength of the type IV gold alloy and Cr-Co alloy surfaces treated with various methods and thermocycling. Universal Instron (Model 1000) and scanning electron microscope (JEOL, Japan) was used to record the shear bond strength of 5 groups. Forty specimens were made for each group ; group 1 was treated with sandblasting only, group 2 was coated with V-primer after sandblasting, group 3 was coated with Metal primer, group 4 wase coated with MR Bond and group 5 was coated with silane. After treated with various methods, thermocycling was done for half of the each group. The surfaces of failed pattern were observed with SEM. The results were as follows : 1. Shear bond strength of the group 1 was lower than that of another groups in type IV gold alloys and bond strength of the group 1, 2 were lower than that of group 3, 4, 5 in Cr-Co alloys. 2. Shear bond strength of the gold alloy with resin was higher than that of Cr-Co alloy when specimens were coated with V-primer. 3. Shear bond strength of the Co-Cr alloys with resin was higher than that of gold alloys when specimens were coated with Metal primer. 4. The bond strength of all specimens did not decreased significantly after thermocycling. 5. Adhesive failures were found in group 1 and Cr-Co alloy in group 2, but adhesive and cohesive failures were found in another groups.

Effect of curing conditions on mode-II debonding between FRP and concrete: A prediction model

  • The rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures using Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials have been widely investigated. As a priority issue, however, the effect of curing conditions on the bonding behavior between FRP and concrete structures is still elusive. This study aims at developing a prediction model to accurately capture the mode-II interfacial debonding between FRP strips and concrete under different curing conditions. Single shear debonding experiments were conducted on FRP-concrete samples with respect to different curing time t and temperatures T. The J-integral formulation and constrained least square minimization are carried out to calibrate the parameters, i.e., the maximum slip $\bar{s}$ and stretch factor n. The prediction model is developed based on the cohesive model and Arrhenius relationship. The experimental data are then analyzed using the proposed model to predict the debonding between FRP and concrete, i.e., the interfacial shear stress-slip relationship. A Finite Element (FE) model is developed to validate the theoretical predictions. Satisfactory agreements are obtained. The prediction model can be used to accurately capture the bonding performance of FRP-concrete structures.

Analysis of the adhesive damage between composite and metallic adherends: Application to the repair of aircraft structures

  • In bonded composite repair of aircraft structures, the damage of the adhesive can thus reduce significantly the efficiency and the durability of the bonded composite repair. The adhesive damage models using critical zone have proven their effectiveness due to simplicity and ap-plicability of the damage criteria in these models. The scope of this study is to analyze the effects of the patch thickness and the adhesive thickness on the damage damage in bonded composite repair of aircraft structures by using modified damage zone theory. The obtained results show that, when the thickness of adhesive increases the damage zone increases and the adhesive loses its rigidity, inversely when the patch is reduced the adhesive damage be-comes more significant.
