  • The purpose of this study was to identify the necessity of research for increasing French language learners and to examine their use of listening strategies according to their proficiency as a basic study for their continuous learning and communication skills. In the case of French language Korean learners, both the beginner and intermediate learners used the upper cognitive strategy most frequently. However, the cognitive strategy, which has been mentioned as a frequently used strategy in previous studies, was found to be the least used in this study. This finding can be attributed to differences in mores and mastery of prior studies and research subjects. The cognitive strategy was lower in both the beginner and intermediate levels, but the level of use increased significantly in the intermediate level compared to the beginner level, showing only statistically significant differences in the usage patterns according to the proficiency level among the four listening strategies.

  • The subjects in this study were 442 5th and 6th grade school children in Seoul. Data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, Stepwise Multiple Regression, and MANOVA. The principal findings were that worry, depression, and trait anxiety were positively related to meta-cognitive knowledge, particularly, meta-worry, positive beliefs about worry, negative beliefs about worry, lower appraisal about cognitive competence, and cognitive self-consciousness. These traits were also positively related to such metacognitive regulation strategies as worry displacement, self punishment, reappraisal, and social control. Metacognition influenced worry, depression, and trait anxiety; groups having more problems worry, depression, and trait anxiety showed high scores in metacognitive knowledge and metacognitive regulation strategies.

  • In mathematics education we have focused on how to improve the problem-solving ability, which makes its way to the new direction with the introduction of meta-cognition. As meta-cognition is based on cognitive activity of learners and concerned about internal properties, we may find a more effective way to generate learners problem-solving power. Its means that learners can regulate cognitive process according to their gorls of learning by themselves. Moreover, they are expected to make active participation through this process. If specific meta problems designed to develop meta-cognition are offered, learners are able to work alone by means of their own cognition and regulation while solving problems. They can transfer meta-cognition to the other subjects as well as mathematics. The studies on meta-cognition conducted so far may be divided into these three types. First in Flavell([3]) meta-cognition is defined as the matter of being conscious of one's own cognition, that is, recognizing cognition. He conducted an experiment with presschoolers and children who just entered primary school and concluded that their cognition may be described as general stage that can not link to specific situation in line with Piaget. Second, Brown([1], [2]) and others argued that meta-cognition means control and regulation of one's own cognition and tried to apply such concept to classrooms. He tried to fined out the strategies used by intelligent students and teach such types of activity to other students. Third, Merleary-Ponty (1962) claimed that meta-cognition is children's way of understanding phenomena or objects. They worked on what would come out in children's cognition responding to their surrounding world. In this paper following the model of meta-cognition produced by Lester ([7]) based on such ideas, we develop types of meta-cognition. In the process of meta-cognition, the meta-cognition working for it is to be intentionally developed and to help unskilled students conduct meta-cognition. When meta-cognition is disciplined through meta problems, their problem-solving power will provide more refined methods for the given problems through autonomous meta-cognitive activity without any further meta problems.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of the CO-OP program using cognitive strategy on the satisfaction and high-level cognitive function of chronic stroke patients with cognitive impairment with the existing task-oriented approach training method. Method: The group randomly selects the experimental group and control group from 30 patients who suffer cognitive damage due to brain damage, and then randomly presents the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupative Performance (CO-OP) Results: The results of the study showed a significant increase in patient performance and satisfaction, task performance, and high-level cognitive functions in comparison to those before training (p<).05) There was no significant difference in CNT testing in controls; Although there were no significant differences in overall CNT testing between the two groups, the COPM, AMPS tests showed a significant increase in the experimental group compared to the comparators (p <.05). Conclusion: The Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupative Performance (CO-OP) Intervention Act, which uses meta-in strategies, was previously used. We were able to confirm that it could be a more effective intervention in task performance and high-level cognitive function than in the Meaningful Task-Specific Training Program (MTST).

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Korean Medicine Therapy (KMT) for the treatment of Chemotherapy-induced Cognitive Impairment (CICI) through systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) as proceeding research to further research the efficacy of KMT for CICI patients. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines (PRISMA). The RCTs on the efficacy of KMT for treatment of CICI were searched by structured search strategies in MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane library, CAJD, KISS, NDSL, KoreaMed, and OASIS. The searched RCTs were screened by inclusion and exclusion criteria. We evaluated the quality of the method in the included studies using the Jadad score and Cochran ROB tool. The efficacy outcomes were the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Clinical total Effective Rate (CER) of CICI. They were analyzed using mean difference for continuous variable or Relative Risk (RR) for Dichotomous variable in the random-effect model. The RevMan 5.3 program was used for meta-analysis. Results: We included 19 RCTs, including 653 participants, in the systematic review and meta-analysis. There were favorable results for the KMT group after the intervention compared with the pharmacotherapy group, physiotherapy group, and combined treatment group. KMT group showed improvement using CER and VAS compared with exercises, but their heterogeneities were slightly significant. KMT was more effective compared to the Rehabilitation program in CER and the subgroup analysis results showed that KMT had a significant difference compared to other therapies in VAS, to Medication therapy in CER. Conclusions: KMT presented reasonable evidence on improving the Clinical total Effective Rate and Visual Analogue Scale in CICI patients. However, further evaluation in future research is required.

  • For an appropriate assessment in mathematics, students should play an active role in their learning by becoming aware of what they have learned in mathematics and by being able to assess their attainment of mathematical knowledge. The process of actively examining and monitoring students' own progress in learning and understanding of their mathematical knowledge, process, and attitude is called self-assessment, Researchers in mathematics education have found some important facts about the meta-cognitive process which is related to self-assessment : i. e. meta-cognition progress is composed of being aware of ones' own personal thinking of content knowledge and cognitive process(self-awareness) and engagement in self-evaluation. Tipical method for self-assessment in mathematics developed upon above finding about meta-cognitive progress is describing about students' knowledge and their problem solving strategies. In the beginning of the description in mathematics about themselves, students are required to answer which part they know and which part they don't know. Self-assessment of students' attitudes and dispositions can be just as important as assessment of their specific mathematical abilities. To make the self-assessment method a success, teachers should let students' have confidence and earn their cooperation by let them overcoming fear to be known the their ability to other students. In conclusion, self-assessment encourages students to assume an active role in development of mathematical power. For teachers, student self-assessment activities can provide a prism through which the development of students' mathematical power can be viewed.
