The Phase Estimation Algorithm of Arrival Phase Differences in Space-Time Coded Communication

  • One objective in developing the next generation of wireless communication systems is to increase data rates and reliability. A promising way to achieve this is to combine multiple-input and multiple-output signal processing with a space-time coding scheme, which offers higher coding and diversity gains and improves the spectrum efficiency and reliability of a wireless communication system. It is noted, however, that time delay differences and phase differences among different channels increase symbol interference and degrade system performance. In this letter, we investigate phase differences and their effects on multiple-input and multiple-output systems, and propose a compensation algorithm for the Rayleigh fading model to minimize their effects.

Decision Feedback Detector for Space-Time Block Codes over Time-Varying Channels

  • Most existing space-time coding (STC) schemes have been developed for flat fading channels. To obtain antenna diversity gain, they rely on channel state information (CSI) required at the receiver through channel estimation techniques. This paper proposes a new decision feedback decoding scheme for Alamouti-based space-time block coding (STBC) transmission over time-selective fading channels. In wireless channels, time-selective fading effects arise mainly due to Doppler shift and carrier frequency offset, Modelling the time-selective fading channels as the first-order Gauss-Markov processes, we use recursive algorithms such as Kalman filtering, LMS and RLS algorithms for channel tracking. The proposed scheme consists of the symbol decoding stage and channel tracking algorithms. Computer simulations confirm that the proposed scheme shows the better performance and robustness to time-selectivity.

Adaptive Channel-Matched Extended Alamouti Space-Time Code Exploiting Partial Feedback

  • Since the publication of Alamouti's famous space-time block code, various quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes (QSTBC) for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) fading channels for more than two transmit antennas have been proposed. It has been shown that these codes cannot achieve full diversity at full rate. In this paper, we present a simple feedback scheme for rich scattering (flat Rayleigh fading) MIMO channels that improves the coding gain and diversity of a QSTBC for 2$^n$ (n=3, 4, ${\cdots}$) transmit antennas. The relevant channel state information is sent back from the receiver to the transmitter quantized to one or two bits per code block. In this way, signal transmission with an improved coding gain and diversity near to the maximum diversity order is achieved. Such high diversity can be exploited with either a maximum-likelihood receiver or low-complexity zero-forcing receiver.

Block-Ordered Layered Detector for MIMO-STBC Using Joint Eigen-Beamformers and Ad-Hoc Power Discrimination Scheme

  • Suitable for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communications, the joint beamforming space-time block coding (JBSTBC) scheme is proposed for high-speed downlink transmission. The major functionality of the scheme entails space-time block encoder and joint transmit and receive eigen-beamformer (EBF) incorporating with block-ordered layered decoder (BOLD), and its operating principle is described in this paper. Within these functionalities, the joint EBFs will be utilized for decorrelating fading channels to cause an enhancement in the spatial diversity gain. Furthermore, to fortify the capability of layered successive interference cancellation (LSIC) in block-ordered layered decoding process, this paper will develop a simple ad-hoc transmit power discrimination scheme (TPDS) based on a particular power discrimination function (PDF). To confirm the superior behavior of the proposed JBSTBC scheme employing ad-hoc TPDS, computer simulations will be conducted under various channel conditions with the provision of detailed mathematical derivations for clarifying its functionality.

다중 사용자 간섭이 존재하는 환경에서 이중이진 터보부호를 이용한 UWB 기반의 전술이동통신시스템 성능 (Performance of Tactics Mobile Communication System Based on UWB with Double Binary Turbo Code in Multi-User Interference Environments)

  • 본 논문에서는 다중 사용자 간섭이 존재하는 환경에서 초광대역 (UWB: Ultra Wide Band) 기반의 전술이동통신 시스템의 성능을 분석하고 모의 실험을 통해 성능을 검증하였다. 본 논문에서 고려한 시스템은 채널에서 발생하는 오류를 정정하기 위해 이중 이진 터보 부호를 채널 부호로 채택한 시스템이다. 무선 채널은 수정된 SV (Saleh and Valenzuela) 모델로 모델링되었다. 또한 시스템 성능을 향상시키기 위해 시공간 블록 부호화 (STBC: Space Time Block Coding) 개념을 적용하였다. 시스템 성능은 비트 오류 확률 측면에서 분석되었다. 모의 실험 결과, 이중 이진 터보 부호로 부호화된 UWB 기반의 전술이동통신 시스템은 다중 사용자 간섭이 존재하는 환경에서 적절한 부호화 및 복호화 복잡도를 가지면서도 상당한 부호화 이득을 가질 수 있는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 고정된 부호화율에서 UWB 기반의 전술이동통신 시스템의 비트 오류 확률 성능은 반복 복호 횟수를 증가시킴에 따라 향상되는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 이중 이진 터보 부호는 요구되는 비트 오류 확률을 유지하면서 동시 사용자 수를 증가시키는데 매우 효과적임이 검증되었다.

OFDM 통신 시스템에서 STFBC 기법을 이용한 위상잡음 보상 (Phase Noise Compensation in OFDM Communication System by STFBC Method)

  • 대용량 고속 광대역 전송에 적합한 OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) 통신 시스템에서 위상 잡음에 의해 발생하는 ICI(Inter-Sub-Carrier-Interference)는 부반송파 사이의 직교성을 깨뜨려 시스템 성능을 현저히 저하시킨다. 본 논문에서는 ICI 제거 기 법과 안테나, 시간, 주파수 다이버시티를 혼합한 새로운 STFBC(Space Time Frequency Block Coding) 방법을 이용하여 ICI를 효과적으로 제거한다. 먼저 위상잡음 선형 근사화 기법을 이용하여 제안한 STFBC OFDM 시스템에서 발생하는 CPE(Common Phase Error) 성분과 ICI 성분을 분석하고 PLL(Phase Locked Loop) 위상잡음에 의해 발생하는 시스템 성능 저하를 비교 분석하기 위하여 CIR(Carrier to Interference Ratio), PICR(Peak Interference to Carrier power Ratio) 그리고 BER(Bit Error Rate)을 토론한다. 분석 결과 제안한 STFBC 방법에서는 ICI를 뚜렷이 제거할 뿐만 아니라 기존의 STBC(Space Time Block Coding), SFBC(Space Frequency Block Coding) 등 다이버시티 코딩 기법에서 나타나는 SCI(Self Channel Interference)를 효과적으로 피면할 수 있다.

  • BTC 압축은 간단하고 효율적인 압축 알고리즘으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는, 컬러 이미지 압축을 위한 RMC-BTC 알고리즘(RMC : reduction method chrominace data)을 제안한다. RMC-BTC coding은 chrominace data를 축소시키기 위해서, 각 BTC 블록에서, chrominace data를 평균으로 표현하는 방법과, luminance 데이터 의 bit-map을 chrominace 데이터의 bit-map으로 활용하여 chrominace 데이터를 표현하는 방법을 사용하였다. 시뮬레에션 결과는 기존의 BTC 알고리즘의 PSNR과 압축비율의 비교를 통해서, 제안한 알고리즘의 효율성을 확인하였다.

Floop: An efficient video coding flow for unmanned aerial vehicles

  • Under limited transmission conditions, many factors affect the efficiency of video transmission. During the flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), frequent network switching often occurs, and the channel transmission condition changes rapidly, resulting in low-video transmission efficiency. This paper presents an efficient video coding flow for UAVs working in the 5G nonstandalone network and proposes two bit controllers, including time and spatial bit controllers, in the flow. When the environment fluctuates significantly, the time bit controller adjusts the depth of the recursive codec to reduce the error propagation caused by excessive network inference. The spatial bit controller combines the spatial bit mask with the channel quality multiplier to adjust the bit allocation in space to allocate resources better and improve the efficiency of information carrying. In the spatial bit controller, a flexible mini graph is proposed to compute the channel quality multiplier. In this study, two bit controllers with end-to-end codec were combined, thereby constructing an efficient video coding flow. Many experiments have been performed in various environments. Concerning the multi-scale structural similarity index and peak signal-to-noise ratio, the performance of the coding flow is close to that of H.265 in the low bits per pixel area. With an increase in bits per pixel, the saturation bottleneck of the coding flow is at the same level as that of H.264.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of constructing neural networks using bio-inspired emergent and evolutionary concepts. This method is algorithm that is based on the characteristics of the biological DNA and growth of plants. Here is, we propose a constructing method to make a DNA coding method for production rule of L-system. L-system is based on so-called the parallel rewriting mechanism. The DNA coding method has no limitation in expressing the production rule of L-system. Evolutionary algorithms motivated by Darwinian natural selection are population based searching methods and the high performance of which is highly dependent on the representation of solution space. In order to verify the effectiveness of our scheme, we apply it to one step ahead prediction of Mackey-Glass time series.

  • Space domain image coding with VQ [9, 10, 11] has been very effective at low rates. To achieve quality at lower rates, it is necessary to exploit spaial redundancy over a larger region of pixels than is possible with general VQ. This paper presents a interframe coding algorithm which is capable of obtaining better performance and lower bi t rate than those of the general interframe coding. The performance is evaluated on the basis of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), memory requirements and bit rate.
