A Study on Decoding Algorithm of TCM by Path Back Method (Path Back 방식을 이용한 TCM의 복호 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • On band limited channel like satellite communication and voice communication. TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) is a communication method that has coding gain which combines modulation with channel coding without bandwidth expansion. In this paper, we apply PAM, PSK, QAM to TCM, and propose the extended path back method decoding algorithm which improved drawback of viterbi decoding algorithm and apply to TCM this decoding algorithm. Using Monte Carlo simulation, we analyze performance of each modulation technique and efficiency of decoding algorithm.

Space-Frequency Block Coded OFDMA Transmission System using Multiple Relays for Shadow Area (음영 지역을 위한 다중 중계기 기반의 주파수 공간 블록 부호화 OFDMA 전송 시스템)

  • In order to cope with shadow areas and to extend cell coverage, relay-assisted wireless communication systems have been widely studied. In this paper, we propose a space-frequency(SF) block coded orthogonal frequency division multiple access(OFDMA) transmission system in a relaying multi-path shadow area. The receiving performance of mobile station in a shadow area can be improved by applying SF block code to the recovered signals of multiple relays before re-transmitting them. The simulation result shows that the proposed SF block coded OFDMA transmission system considerably outperforms the conventional single-path OFDMA transmission system.

  • A reduced-state sequence estimation(RSSE) for trellis-coded (TC) 8PSK/cyclic prefixed single carrier(CPSC) with minimum mean-square error-liner equalization(MMSE-LE) on frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels is proposed. The Viterbi algorithm (VA) is used to search for the best path through the reduced-state trellis combined equalization and TCM decoding. The symbol error probability of the proposed scheme is confirmed by computer simulation.

  • The path-finding algorithm refers to an algorithm for navigating the route order from the current position to the destination in a virtual world in a game. The conventional path-finding algorithm performs graph search based on cost such as A-Star and Dijkstra. A-Star and Dijkstra require movable node and edge data in the world map, so it is difficult to apply online games with lots of map data. In this paper, we provide a Heuristic-based Genetic Algorithm Path-finding(HGAP) using Genetic Algorithm(GA). Genetic Algorithm is a path-finding algorithm applicable to game with variable environment and lots of map data. It seek solutions through mating, crossing, mutation and evolutionary operations without the map data. The proposed algorithm is based on Binary-Coded Genetic Algorithm and searches for a path by performing a heuristic operation that estimates a path to a destination to arrive at a destination more quickly.

Space-Frequency Block Coded Relay Transmission System for a Shadow Area (음영 지역을 위한 주파수 공간 블록 부호화 중계기 전송 시스템)

  • Relay-assisted wireless communication systems have been studied widely to cope with shadow areas and extend the cell coverage. This paper proposes a space-frequency (SF) block coded single carrier-frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) transmission system in a relaying multi-path shadow area and present the performance comparison of SC-FDMA systems based on the signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) between a relay and a destination station. The performance of relaying SC-FDMA systems can be improved by applying SF block code to the recovered signals of relays before re-transmitting them. The simulation result showed that the SNR performance of the proposed SF block coded relaying SC-FDMA system was approximately 5 dB better than the SNR performance of the single-path relaying SC-FDMA system at a symbol error rate (SER) of $10^{-2}$.

  • This paper presents a robot simulator which can automatically generate a smooth collision free path. This simulator has the characterstisc of the object - oriented programming which is coded in Borland C+ +. Using General Inverse Algorithm, the inverse kinematics solutions of any kind of robots can be found generally. This simulator also uses Bezier Functions for the description of a smooth collision - free path. In addition, GUI(Graphic User Interface)technique is employed for user's convenience.

  • This paper briefly reviews the path planning methods that are applicable to the autonomous mobile robots for the military. Two distinct path search algorithms, $A^*$ and $D^*$ that are most popular and flexible in public applications, among those reviewed are coded and analyzed in terms of combat environment assessment factors called METT+TC for the area of operations. The results imply that it is important to consider the characteristics of defense acquisition process and the specific requirements of defense operation so that the successful technology development of the Robot products is directly linked to the defense procurement of Robot products.

  • In this paper, a space-frequency coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (SFC-OFDM) scheme with dual Viterbi decoder is proposed and analyzed. Here, two independent half-rate OFDM symbols are generated after convolutional coding of the binary source code. A dual Viterbi decoder is exploited to decode the demodulated sequences independently in the receiver, and their path metrics are compared. Accordingly, the recovered binary data in the proposed scheme are composed of the combination of the sequences having larger path metrics while those in a conventional system are simply the output of single Viterbi decoder. As a result, the proposed SFC-OFDM scheme has a better performance than the conventional one for all signal-to-noise power ratio.

  • This paper presents a methodology on automation of a trailer type vehicle which consists of two parts: a tractor and a trailer. Backward moving and parking control is very important to automate this type of vehicle. It is difficult to control the motion such a trailer vehicle whose dynamics in non-holonomic. Therefore, in this paper, the modeling and parameter estimation of the system using a RCGA(real-coded genetic algorithm) is proposed and a backward path tracking control algorithm is then obtained. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
