  • According to the development of loading equipments, it is usual to change or replace the existing stores. It has been known that pylon-mounted under stores strongly affect aircraft dynamics characteristics due to the change of aerodynamics. To predict the aerodynamics and aero-elasticity is essentially requested with considering the configuration and shape of external stores during the development of aircraft and/or external stores. In this paper, computational fluid dynamics and computational structure dynamics interaction methodology are applied for prediction of aerodynamic characteristics for F-5 aircraft's horizontal tail with various shape of external stores. FLUENT and ABAQUS were used to calculate fluid and structural dynamics. Code-bridge was made base on the globally supported radial basis function to execute interpolation and mapping. As a result, even though the aeroelasticity of the horizontal tail slightly changes according to the shape of external store, the flutter was not occurred at the considered flight conditions in this study.

  • Precise Point Positioning (PPP) algorithms using GPS code pseudo-range measurements were developed and their accuracy was validated for the purpose of implementing them on a portable device. The group delay, relativistic effect, and satellite-antenna phase center offset models were applied as fundamental corrections for PPP. GPS satellite orbit and clock offsets were taken from the International GNSS Service official products which were interpolated using the best available algorithms. Tropospheric and ionospheric delays were obtained by applying mapping functions to the outputs from scientific GPS data processing software and Global Ionosphere Maps, respectively. When the developed algorithms were tested for four days of data, the horizontal and vertical positioning accuracies were 0.8-1.6 and 1.6-2.2 meters, respectively. This level of performance is comparable to that of Differential GPS, and further improvements and fine-tuning of this suite of PPP algorithms and its implementation at a portable device should be utilized in a variety of surveying and Location-Based Service applications.

  • This paper proposes a bridge model for data exchange and service invocation between OPRoS and ROS platforms, shows the validity of the proposed model via applications, and compares the proposed model with the OPRoS platform and the ROS platform using performance measures such as data exchange time and service response time. The proposed model operates independently of OPRoS and ROS Platforms using its configuration file with mapping information among the OPRoS data/service port and the ROS topic/service. The configuration file makes easy connections between OPRoS data/service and ROS topic/service without changing the source code of the platform and components.

  • This paper investigates the application, design and implementation of unscented Kalman filter observer using the various scaling parameters for the sensorless speed control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The principles of unscented transformation and unscented Kalman filter are examined and their applications are explained. Typically the mapping transformation process is divided into two types, namely the basic unscented transformation and the general unscented transformation by virtue of the scaling parameter value. And resultantly, the number of sampling points, weights, code configuration and computation time are different. But there is no little information on the scaling parameter value or how this value influences the system performance. To analyze the unscented transformation with the various scaling parameters in this study, the experimental results under a wide range of operation condition have been demonstrated.

  • A 16 kilobase (kb) HindIII fragment of alkalophilic Bacillus sp. YC-335 containing a gene for xylanase synthesis was inserted at the HindIII site of pBR322 and cloned in Escherichia coli HB101. After subcloning of recombinant plasmid pYS52, the 1.5 kb fragment was found to code for xylanase activity, and the hybrid plasmid was named pYS55. The DNA insert of the plasmid was subjected to restriction enzyme mapping, which showed that pYS55 had single site for PuvII and SstI in the 1.5 kb insert fragment. Southern hybridization analysis revealed that the cloned gene was hybridized with chromosomal DNA from alkalophilic Bacillus sp. YC-335. About 64% of the enzyme activity was observed in the extracellular and periplasmic space of E. coli HB10l carrying pYS55.

  • Feature-oriented software product line engineering is to develop various products by developing product line core assets in terms of features and composing those features. However, the developed product may not behave correctly if the feature interaction problem has not be properly taken into account during the feature composition. This paper proposes techniques for identifying and modularizing undesirable feature interactions effectively. The scientific calculator product line is used for evaluating the applicability of the proposed method.

  • In the concrete structures, cracks occur in various causes and the cracks seriously affect the functions of structures. The analysis techniques of progressive crack in the concrete have been improved with the advance of numerical techniques. The discrete crack model used in finite element program for the analysis of progressive failure is very effective, but it can not be easily implemented into numerical procedures because of difficult handing of nodal points in finite element meshes for crack growth. This paper introduces one of the techniques which skips the difficulty. In this paper, the modeling of progressive failure using finite element formulation is explained for the analysis of concrete fracture. The discontinuous element using the discontinuous shape function and the dual mapping technique in the numerical integration are implemented into finite element code for this purpose. It is shown that developed finite element program can predict the quasi-brittle behavior of concrete including ultimate load. The comparisons of the analysis results with other data are also shown.

  • We introduce the network coding which cooperative communication for two-way relay channel. We propose a new network coding scheme using orthogonality for cooperative communication system. The proposed network coding scheme via orthogonal mapping shows better BER performance because proposed scheme weakens error propagation which is disadvantage of DF scheme. And proposed scheme maintains same throughput compared to conventional scheme.

  • Recently, the general contour Monte Carlo has been proposed by Liang (2004) as a space annealing version(ACMC) for optimization problems. The algorithm can be applied successfully to determine the ground configurations for the prediction of protein folding. In this approach, we use the distances between the consecutive $C_{\alpha}$ atoms along the peptide chain and the mapping sequences between the 20-letter amino acids and a coarse-grained three-letter code. The algorithm was tested on the real proteins. The comparison showed that the algorithm made a significant improvement over the simulated annealing(SA) and the Metropolis Monte Carlo method in determining the ground configurations.

  • Understanding the effects of the parameters affecting the interaction of tandem hydrofoil system is a crucial subject in order to fully comprehend the aero/hydrodynamics of any vehicle moving inside a fluid. This study covers a parametric study on tandem hydrofoil interaction in both potential and viscous fluids using iterative Boundary Element Method (BEM) and RANSE. BEM allows a quick estimation of the flow around bodies and may be used for practical purposes to assess the interaction inside the fluid. The produced results are verified by conformal mapping and Finite Volume Method (FVM). RANSE is used for viscous flow conditions to assess the effects of viscosity compared to the inviscid solutions proposed by BEM. Six different parameters are investigated and they are the effects of distance, thickness, angle of attack, chord length, aspect ratio and tapered wings. A generalized 2-D code is developed implementing the iterative procedure and is adapted to generate results. Effects of free surface and cavitation are ignored. It is believed that the present work will provide insight into the parametric interference between hydrofoils inside the fluid.
