In this study, epoxy/anhydride mixing ratio for the highly silica filled compounds with chromium (III) octoate catalyst was investigated at a low curing temperature ($71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hr) by evaluating the compressive strength with the weight ratio ranges from 0.3/1.0 to 1.0/1.0 of epoxy part (Part A)/anhydride part (Part B). In case of epoxy/anhydride compounds used surface unmodified silica by coupling agent, these compounds need excess anhydride unlike the weight ratio in the conventional epoxy/anhydride compounds. In curing behavior, the epoxy/anhydride compounds containing chromium (III) octoate showed high conversions at $71^{\circ}C$ for 40 hr, even if a dipropylene glycol (DPG) was not used as a polymerization initiator. Also, DPG leads to a poor epoxy network structure. In conclusion, the appropriate weight ratio of Part A/Part B of highly silica filled epoxy/anhydride compounds with chromium (III) octoate catalyst is 0.5/1.0 and the maximum amounts of silica is 1470 phr of epoxy resin.
Statement of problem: Removable partial denture and complete denture often require denture base relines to improve the fit against the tissue-bearing mucosa because of gradual changes in edentulous ridge contours and resorption of underlying bone structure. Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the effect of surface design on bond strength of relining denture base resins to denture base acrylic resin. Materials and method: Heat curing resin(Lucitone 199, Dentsply U.S.A. and Vertex, Dentimex, Holland), self curing resin(Tokuso rebase, Tokuyama, Japan), and visible light curing resin(Triad, Dentsply, U.S.A.) were used in this study. The surface designs were classified as butt, bevel and rabbet joint and the bond strengths were measured by Universial Testing Machine (Zwick 2020, Zwick Co., Germany). Results and Conclusion: The obtained results from this study were as follows ; 1. The bond strength of Vertex resin was higher than those of Tokuso rebase and Triad. 2. The bond strength of rabbet and bevel joint was higher than that of butt joint. 3. The failure mode of Triad and Tokuso rebase was mainly adhesive, but cohesive failure was shown mainly in vertex.
Intending to develop a new rubber curing process using only microwave, the both the characteristics of cure and the mechanical properties of rubbers for the tire tread, for which a green styrene-butadiene compounds had been cured with 2.45 GHz microwave, have been compared with those of the custom thermal cured rubber. The unintentional hot spot formation in the compound during the microwave curing has not found where the compound has a microwave absorbing ceramic powders in 4.18 weight percents and the supplying voltage has been adjusted to 90 volts. The new microwave process accomplished preheating to 418K in a quarter of the thermal cure time. The average tensile strength of the microwave-cured rubber indicating $190kg/cm^3$ was compatible to that of the thermal cure. In conclusion, the new microwave cure had approved to be applicable in a commercial plant.
The high-solid coatings were prepared by blending the synthesized acrylic resin in the previous paper and hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer and curing it at room temperature. The characterization of the films of the prepared coatings was performed. The impact resistance, $60^{\circ}C$ specular gloss, cross-hatch adhension, and heat resistance of the films proved to be good, and the pencil hardness and drying time proved to be slightly poor. Especially, there was a remarkable improvement in the heat resistance. This improvement may stem from the regular arrangement of ethyl groups introduced into the acrylic resin. From a viscoelastic measurement using a rigid-body pendulum, curing was accelerated with the $T_g$ value. With the increase in $T_g$, log damp value was lowered and dynamic viscoelasic $T_g$ of a cured film was increased.
Environmental friendly acrylic/urea high-solid paint(MUHC) were prepared through the curing reaction of acrylics resin(EBHC) containing 70wt% of solids content and butylated urea curing agent. The synthesis of EBHC Was done at $150^{\circ}C$ for 6 hours, and the results were obtained as follows : $M_{n}=1830{\sim}2190$, $M_{w}$$3290{\sim}4000$, $M_{w}/M_{n}$=1.80{\sim}1.83$ viscosity=$110{\sim}352$ cps, and conversion=$82{\sim}92$%. After the film was coated with MUHC, the various physical properties were measured. They showed that enhancement of the coating properties such as adhesion, flexibility, abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and water resistance could be expected through introdl1cing caprolactone acrylate component in acrylics resin for the high-solids content acrylics/urea coatings.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the capability of different strength-maturity models to account for the effect of the hydration heat on the in-place strength development of high-strength concrete specifically developed for nuclear facility structures under various ambient curing temperatures. To simulate the primary containment-vessel of a nuclear reactor, three 1200-mm-thick wall specimens were prepared and stored under isothermal conditions of approximately $5^{\circ}C$ (cold temperature), $20^{\circ}C$ (reference temperature), and $35^{\circ}C$ (hot temperature). The in situ compressive strengths of the mock-up walls were measured using cores drilled from the walls and compared with strengths estimated from various strength-maturity models considering the internal temperature rise owing to the hydration heat. The test results showed the initial apparent activation energies at the hardening phase were approximately 2 times higher than the apparent activation energies until the final setting. The differences between core strengths and field-cured cylinder strengths became more notable at early ages and with the decrease in the ambient curing temperature. The strength-maturity model proposed by Yang provides better reliability in estimating in situ strength of concrete than that of Kim et al. and Pinto and Schindler.
Successful coating of high quality glassy carbon is introduced by applying high pressure during the curing process of dip-coated phenol resin on graphite. The dependence of the applied pressure on the quality of the glassy carbon layer has not been reported so far. Pressure was changed from 0 to 400 psi during curing at $200^{\circ}C$. After carbonized at $1100^{\circ}C$ in inert atmosphere for the 400 psicured sample, as a promising result, a thick (~ 3 mm) and smooth glassy carbon layer could be obtained without any breakage, and the yield of carbonization was remarkably increased. It is believed that the cross-linking of resins results in decreasing volatile contents and, thus, increasing the yield of the glassy carbon. The origin of the improvement is discussed on the basis of several analytical results including FE-SEM, FT-IT and Raman spectrum.
The cure kinetics of blends of epoxy (DGEBA, diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A)/anhydride resin with polyamide copolymer, poly(dimmer acid-co-alkyl polyamine), were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under isothermal condition. On increasing the amount of polyamide copolymer in the blends, the reaction rate was increased and the final cure conversion was decreased. Lower values of final cure conversions in the epoxy/(polyamide copolymer) blends indicate that polyamide hinders the cure reaction between the epoxy and the curing agent. The value of the reaction order, m, for the initial autocatalytic reaction was not affected by blending polyamide copolymer with epoxy resin, and the value was approximately 1.3, whereas the reaction order, n, for the general n-th order of reaction was increased by increasing the amount of polyamide copolymer in the blends, and the value increased from 1.6 to 4.0. A diffusion-controlled reaction was observed as the cure conversion increased and the rate equation was successfully analyzed by incorporating the diffusion control term for the epoxy/anhydride/(polyamide copolymer) blends. Complete miscibility was observed in the uncured blends of epoxy/(polyamide copolymer) up to 120 $^{\circ}C$, but phase separations occurred in the early stages of the curing process at higher temperatures than 120 "C. During the curing process, the cure reaction involving the functional group in polyamide copolymer was detected on a DSC thermogram.gram.
Tooth colored resin restorative materials are widely used in anterior teeth restorations. The color instability of resin was the main cause of failure in resin restorations. The purpose of this study was to investigate color stability and microhardness of serval visible light curing resins. Colorimetric measurements(Tokyo Denshoku Co., Japan) and microhardness tests(Matusuzawa, MXT 70, Japan) were made on six composite resins before and after controlled immersion treatments. The six composite resins were BIS - FILM(BISCO, USA), Durafill(Kulzer, Germany), Helioprogess(VIVADENT, Germany), Palfique(TOKUYAMA SODA, Japan), Silux(3M, USA), Photoclearfil(KURARAY, Japen). Six light curing resins showed significant color change after 2 weeks. Palfique exhibited the hightest $dE^*$ values and Helio progress presented the lowest $dE^*$ values. Photoclearfil showed the highest microhardness value. Durafill and Helio progress showed lower microhardness values. Microhardness values were decreased after 8 weeks in Bisfil, Palfique light, and Photoclearfil.
In this study, freezing-thawing resistance of concrete using steel slag as coarse aggregate(steel slag concrete) from Gwangyang Iron Co. was estimated to offer basic data for utilization of much more steel slag. Freezing-thawing test of concrete using crushed stone as coarse aggregate(crushed stone concrete) whose compressive strength and air contents are as close as possible to those of the steel slag concrete was performed. Because they are main two factors that affect of freezing-thawing resistance. The test was carried out up to 400 cycles according to KS F 2456. The compressive strength and weight of two concretes were measured and compared. As a result, the freezing-thawing resistance of steel slag concrete curing in water was almost the same with that of crushed stone concrete. But the resistance of steel slag concrete curing in air dry condition was weaker than that of crushed stone concrete. Also, the steel slag concrete which has more than 60% of W/C ratio showed much more surface degradation when compared to crushed stone concrete.
