The Role of Clothing Involvement in the Influential Relationship of Sensation Seeking Tendency and Explorary Behavior on Clothing (감각추구성향이 의복탐색행동에 미치는 영향에 있어 의복 관여의 역할)

  • The purpose of the study were first to propose and determine the influence of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior related to clothing would be mediated by consumer's clothing involvement and second to examine whether sensation seeking tendency is applicable variable on segmenting market expecially using underlying factors of sensation seeking tendency. A questionaire was developed and data were collected from 342 women ranged in age from 0 to 34 years. They were conveniently selected as a proper sample for applying and examining sensation seeking tendency. Arousal seeking tendency scale(Mehrabian & Russel 1974) was selected for operationalizing sensation seeking tendency and exploratory behavior related to clothing. As a result of regression the indirect effect mediated by clothing involvement of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior was larger than the direct one. The influences of factors of sensation-seeking tendency behavior was larger than the direct one. The influences of factors of sensation-seeking tendency were also investigated. The influence of change-seeking tendency and new enviornment seeking tendency was considerably mediated by clothing involvement but that of risk-seeing tendency was not. Artistic sensation seeking tendency had little effect on clothing involvement and exploratory behavior related to clothing. As a result of regression the indirect effect mediated by clothing involvement of sensation seeking tendency on exploratory behavior was larger than influence of change-seeking tendency and new enviornment seeking tendency was considerably mediated by clothing involvement but that of risk-seeking tendency was not. Relationships among the Consumer's Sensation Seeking Tendency, Needs of Clothing Purchase and Clothing Purchase Behavior (소비자의 감각추구경향 의복구매욕구와 의복구매행동의 관계연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among the consumer's sensation seeking tendency needs of clothing purchase and clothing purchase behavior. The date were obtained from 461 female university students career women and housewives using questionnaire. Consumers were classified into low and high sensation seeking tendency groups. These two groups showed partially significant difference in the needs of clothing purchase. Consumers with higher sensation seeking tendency had higher tendency of impulse buying. And they were likely to show the pleasure dimension of needs of clothing purchase and the pleasure seeking and the time seeking factors of shopping behavior Also they had higher purchase frequency of clothing than those who had lower sensation seeking tendency. Consumers with lower sensation seeking tendency placed more importance on the utilitarian dimension of the needs of clothing purchase and the price and quality of products in shopping.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the influential factors of clothing conspicous consumption, and the relationship between these consumer characteristics and clothing purchasing behaviors. The influential factors of clothing conspicous consumption are defined materialism, sensation seeking tendency and demographic characteristics. And clothing purchasing behavior can be defined such as fashion leadership, impulsive purchasing behaviors, bargain sale purchasing, and the price and total pieces of clothing. The data were collected from 320 female students of university using questionnaire, and were analysed with frequency, %, multiple regression, ANOVA and Duncan test. Reresults can be summerized as follows. First, clothing conspicous consumption was not influenced to sensation seeking tendency but materialism. Second, the sensation seeking tendency, materialism and clothing conspicous consumption was proven to be partially related to the clothing purchasing behaviors. Third, the demographic characteristics have influenced on the sensation seeking tendency, materialism, clothing conspicous consumption and clothing purchasing behaviors.

A Study on Materialism and Clothing Buying Behavior (물질주의 성향과 의복행동과의 관계 연구)

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between materialism and clothing buying behavior (clothing shopping orientation, clothing selection standards, use of information sources, store selection standards, purchase and purchase intention of imported clothing). The data were obtained from questionnaires completed by 400 women in the Taegu area whose age was 20 years and older. The SPSS/PC$^{+}$ package was used for data analysis which included a test of reliability, frequency, percentage, factor analysis, t-test, and x$^2$ test. There were significant differences in clothing buying behavior between groups who had a higher tendency and a lower tendency toward materialism. In other words, those who had a higher tendency toward materialism enjoyed their shopping and pursued the world-known brands, imported brands, the latest fashions, and conspicious consumption more than those who had a lower tendency of materialism. The former put a greater focus on the latest fashion styles, brand image, and design then the latter when the\ulcorner bought clothing. Those who had a higher tendency toward materialism utilized more information sources than those who had a lower tendency. The former made purchases from the stores where they stock famous world-known brands and well-advertised stores, and had a greater purchase intention of imported clothing than the latter. In the purchase of imported clothing there was no significant difference between two groups.s.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify Intra-industry phenomena of Clothing Trade in Korea. For this purpose, changes of Korean clothing trade were analyzed in connection with the theory of intra-industry trade during the 1990's. Formerly, changes of Korean clothing trade were analyzed by the trade orientation index and that of the trade with each Korean clothing trade partner particularly. secondly, tendency and major determinants of two-way trade or intra-industry trade of Korean clothing trade were analyzed. The results of the study were as follows : First, the trade pattern of clothing in Korea was strong export orientation. Since the mid 1990's, however, this tendency has been weakened. Second, tendency of one-way trade is strong generally. but since the mid 1990's, tendency of intra-industry(two-way) trade increased. The intra-industry(two-way) trade tendency with Hong Kong and China is especially strong. Third, from the viewpoint of determinants of intra-industry trade in clothing industry, the determinant is distance between countries in 1994. Also the determinant is trade tendency of the country in 1999.

  • In this study, investigation into the impact of sensation seeking tendency and clothing attitudes upon brand variety seeking will be made through the presentation of sensation seeking tendency as consumer's motivation of clothing behavior and clothing attitude as parameter. To give goals of this study. First, to help the understanding of consumers by elucidating consumer's psychological characteristics against sensation seeking tendency, clothing attitude and diverse brands seeking. Second, to offer standard for specifying market by presenting theoretical as well as empirical data. Third. to create successful marketing strategy according to consumer groups and moreover to increase sales efficiency. Research results are as follows : As a result of investigating on which factor among sensation seeking tendency affects on seeking various brands, change seeking tendency and aesthetic seeking impact upon seeking various kinds of brands. Change seeking is turned out to be the most influential factor. Fashion leadership, fashion innovativeness, attention concentration, social approval and clothing interest had an impact on diverse kinds of brand seeking: there was a positive relations with fashion leadership. attention concentration. clothing interest and fashion innovativeness, whereas a negative link with social approval. Three factors of sensation seeking tendency, two factors, that is change seeking and aesthetic seeking. have direct and indirect paths that lead to diverse brand seeking, via clothing attitude. that is to say, clothing interest. fashion leadership. social approval and attention concentration. On the other hand, thrill and risk seeking only had indirect path. Aesthetic seeking showed higher significance to indirect effect on diverse brand seeking which takes clothing attitude as a parameter, than that of direct effect. Brand variety seeking was under considerable effect of fashion leadership, clothing interest and attention concentration, in order.

  • In this study, we examined relationship among social class, conspicious consumption, dimensions of clothing price, and clothing buying behavior. The data were obtained by 290 female college students using questionnaire. The questionnaire were consist of four parts, dimensions of clothing price, conspicious consumption, clothing buying behavior, demographic factors. And the data were analysed with frequency, $x^2$-test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA and Duncan test. The results were as follows. First, there was significant differences in social class and their attitude on dimensions of clothing price. Upper class consumers evaluate clothing price as Quality and dignity, on the other hand, lower class consumers perceived it as tendency for discount. Second, clothing selective standards was founded significantly different in social class. Clothing symbolic factor was more important to the upper class then lower class. Third, upper class consumers had a tendency of purchasing more clothes than lower class, and spend more money on clothing. Fourth, there was significant differences in conspicious consumption group and their attitude on dimensions of clothing price. Fifth, when conspicious consumption tendency is higher, importance of clothing price is highly perceived by college student. Sixth, Amount of clothing purchase and clothing expenditure were significantly different in conspicious consumption group. Consumers tend to buy more clothes and spend more money on clothes when they had high tendency in conspicious consumption.

A Study on the Marketing Factors and the Brand Image Influencing the Impulse Purchase Tendency of Women Who Buy Character Clothing Brands (여성 캐릭터 의류 브랜드 구매자의 충동구매에 영향을 미치는 마케팅 요인과 브랜드 이미지에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to (1) investigate on the impulse purchase tendency of women who buy women's character clothing brands and (2) to clarify the relationship between the women's impulse purchase tendency and the marketing factors, and the brand image. The subjects were 203 women in their twenties and thirties who had purchased the women's character clothing brands in last six months living in Seoul. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaire and were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t-test, clustering analysis and MDS(Multi-Dimensional Scale). The results of the study were as follows: (1)66.0% of the women were categorized as the group of high-degree of impulse purchase tendency and 34.0% of the women were identified as the group of low-degree of impulse purchase tendency. (2) In identifying the relationship between the marketing factors and the impulse purchase tendency, the group of the high-degree of impulse purchase tendency was affected by the marketing factors such as new and fashionable products, status of display, advertising and discout selling. (3) Brand image was not statistically significant according to the impulse purchase tendency. As a whole, 'Obzee' was recognized as unique-style and sexy brand, 'Time' and 'Mine' were thought as the reasonable-prince and basic-style brands, 'Deco' were clarified as the intellectual-image brand, and 'Ego' and 'Telegraph' were revealed as high-price-image brands.

Married Women's The Difference of Conspicuous Consumption of Clothing according to Lifestyle (기혼여성의 라이프스타일 유형별 의복의 과시적소비)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate general conspicuous consumption tendency of married women and to identify differences of the conspicuous consumption according to their lifestyle and socia-demographic variables. The data were collected via self-administered questionnaires from 423 married women (20 to 60 years old) in Daegu Metropolitan City. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, frequencies and one-way ANOVA. Main results of this study are as follows: (a) Married women's tendency of the conspicuous consumption of clothing was generally low, (b) The more consumption-, achievement-orientated they were, the higher was the tendency to the conspicuous consumption of clothing. The more economy-, family- orientated they were, the lower was the tendency to the conspicuous consumption of clothing, (c) The younger they were, the more fashion-oriented they were and they showed the tendency of spending their money excessively to acquire clothing. The higher educational qualifications and household income were, the higher was the tendency of spending disposable income on clothing.

The effect of Independent Tendency of Single Women on Consumption Values and Clothing Benefits (미혼여성의 독립적 성향에 따른 소비가치와 의복추구혜택에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the independent tendency of single women, certainly worthy of study in considering their size, their growth, and their purchasing power, and to examine their effects on consumption values and clothing benefits. The data were collected from self-administrated questionnaire with 537 single women in their 20�s and 30�s on May in 2005. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, K-means cluster, one way ANOVA and chi-square. Factor analysis on independent tendency resulted in three dimensional structures: marriage-independent tendency, physical independence, social independence. Five dimensions of consumption values were identified by factor analysis: conspicuous, pro-environmental. economic, enjoyable, aesthetic values. Five dimensions of clothing benefits were identified by factor analysis: individuality, well-known brand, practicality, price, social recognition pursuit. The respondents were classified to three groups by three factors of independent tendency: high independent group, social-physical independent group, low independent group. There were significant differences among these groups in demographic characteristics, consumption values and clothing benefits.
