  • To study the eruption process of the permanent tooth, esp., 1st molar, the author took 303 cases of oblique cephalogram (Male. 162 cases, Female: 141 cases) from age 3 to 8 yea old children, and observed the vertical change and axial change. The result were as follow: 1. The mesial end of upper 1st molar was closer to the occlusal plane than the distal, and they were erupting toward the occlusal plane by aging. In the case of lower 1st molar, the distal end was closer to the occlusal plane than the mesial and the occlusion showed the tendency to accord with the plane to be settled by aging. 2. Eruption rate of the upper and lower 1st permanent molar increased rapidly at 5 or 6 years of age. 3. Axial inclination of lower 1st permanent molar to the mandibular plane decreased gradually from 3 years of age, except for 6 years of age. There was some increase at 5 or 6 years of age.

  • Recently, creative innovation has become a major topic in management innovation and due to this, various researches on its need and methodologies are being performed. According to previous studies on ambidexterity, explorative innovation is closer to divergent and right-sided brain, while exploitative innovation is closer to convergent and left-sided brain. Topic was to identify preceding element which affects Ambidextrous Innovation. For this topic, 129 Six Sigma projects from 19 different companies were collected. Ambidextrous index from preceding studies was used. This index represents the degree of ambidextrous activation and can be calculated by multiplying cumulative usage of exploitative tools with that of explorative tools. In the project characteristics, simple linear regression result showed leadership degree, team's vitalization degree and leader capability degree have effect in positive direction.

  • The mode I and II stress intensity factors have been calculated theoretically for the cracked plate reinforced with a plate by symmetric spot welding under remote mixed mode loading. This is the extension of authors' previous work for the reinforced cracked plate under remote normal stress. Regardless of loading types, the reinforcement effect gets better as one joining spot is closer to the crack tip and the others are closer to the crack surface, and optimum number of the joining spots can be existed. For the present model, the remote loading parallel to crack surface produces the mode I stress intensity factor.

  • A series of simulations were carried out to test the accuracy of a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) model for flow and dispersion problems around buildings. The basic equations involved are Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Two different cases were selected to estimate the accuracy of a CFD model. Case 1 adopted Euler equations, which are obtained by neglecting the viscous fluxes, which can be closed by the $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$model for a turbulent close problem. The results of both cases were compared with wind tunnel data. The results for Case 2 were closer to the wind both cases were compared with wind tunnel data. The results for Case 2 were closer to the wind tunnel data than Case 1. Accordingly, this indicates that the inclusion of viscous fluxes in a CFD model is required for the simulation of flow and 야spersion around buildings.

  • The combination of dispersion management (DM) and midway optical phase conjugation (OPC) is one of the promising techniques for compensating for optical signal distortion due to group velocity dispersion and nonlinear fiber effects. However, in this combination technique, midway OPC restricts the flexible optical link configuration. Therefore, the possibility of implementing the flexible optical link configuration with non-midway OPC applied to complete inline DM links is investigated in this study. It is confirmed that although the compensation using non-midway OPC for the distorted WDM channels is less effective than that using midway OPC, when non-midway OPC is placed at positions closer to the transmitters, the deployment of precompensation (i.e., the sequence of DCF + SMF)-OPC-postcompensation (i.e., the sequence of SMF + DCF) is more advantageous for the compensation. On the other hand, inverse deployment with respect to OPC (i.e., postcompensation-OPC-precompensation) is more advantageous when non-midway OPC is placed at positions closer to the receivers.

  • In today's man's domestic environments, the development of furnishings in their various shapes and functions is as complex as human lives. Architecture, Interior, and Furniture, each one of these have the relationship closer and closer to the direct human environments. In this study, by choosing the theme of sitting , the transformation of man's behavioral models would be examined in sociological terms. By viewing the chair as an emblematic objects made for more than just sitting, the chair has revealed the relations of man with his environment since the history of furnishings began. Qualified architects and designers know that chairs are no longer the objects, but the primary subject of furnishings. Through this examination of the emblematic typologies of periodic chairs in the history of the Western culture, in terms of their relationships with politics , religions, monarchies, societies, and etc., the meaning of the designs could be find and which could be the resolutions for the future innovative design. These refound or recreated meanings in the history of design could create another typology for the future reality.

  • A method to compute the reactive powers of the added buses by the decoupled UPFC model for the optimal voltage profile is presented, by which the voltage magnitudes of PQ buses can get closer to the reference value(usually one p.u.). The performance index for assessing how much the voltage magnitude is closer to the reference value is defined as the squared sum of the present voltage minus the reference voltage multiplied by the weighting number associated with the relative importance of the buses. Numerical example in a 10-unit 39-bus power system with 2 UPFC's shows that the performance index can be very much reduced by operating multi UPFC's with the reactive powers for the optimal voltage profile proposed in this paper.

  • This paper deals with finding an initial solution and modifying search direction by the centrering force in the predictor-corrector method which is a variant of the primal-dual barrier method. These methods were tested with NETLIB problems. Initial solutions which are located close to the center of the feasible set lower the number of iterations, as they enlarge the step length. Three heuristic methods to find such initial solution are suggested. The new methods reduce the average number of iterations by 52% to at most, compared with the old method assigning 1 to initial valurs. Solutions can move closer to the central path fast by enlarging the centering force in early steps. It enlarge the step length, so reduces the number of iterations. The more effective this method is the closer the initial solution is to the boundary of the feasible set.
