  • The particulate matter that was emitted always come up by atmospheric environmental problem. Running on the road vehicles must have regular inspection at regular period and make sure the emissions of exhaust gases exceed the legal standards. Emission test for the atmospheric environment, but it is not free from the particulate matter. Currently, emission test of vehicle inspection is divided into regular inspection and close inspection. Regular inspection and close inspection differ not only the method of emission test, but also the facility standards that must have for this inspection. According to the "Regulations on the Implementation of Comprehensive vehicle Inspection, etc.", close inspection must have trapping device that is trap particulate matter by emission test to vehicle. However, regular inspection is different. Regular inspection do not specify any criteria for trapping facilities. Therefore, this study is confirm how to prevent the emission of particulate matter to the atmosphere during the year when mandatory trapping facilities are required to trapped particulate matter in the regular inspection.

  • In this thesis, the safety inspection of the T-beam bridges were studied. The stage of the safety inspection were classified according to the importance of the inspection contents the preliminary inspection, the resume inspection, the detail inspection, and the close inspection. By stages, the Inspection contents, the inspection items, and the inspection methods were systematized. And the method of the repair or the reinforcement for the demaged bridges were also suggested.

  • For efficiently safety management of city gas pipelines, the City-gas Pipeline Management System(CPMS) has been developed to systematically manage and analyze the data collected from 33 city gas companies and to effectively perform internal and external affairs related to gas safety management. The piping information data uploaded to the CPMS is ranked the risk according to the criteria specified in the KGS Code, and the safety management of the piping has performed close inspection according to the risk ranking. However, the criteria for deriving the risk ranking is very simple and lacks relevant grounds, and the reliability for the determination of the close inspection pipeline is no high due to the redundant rank. Therefore, we developed a risk assessment program based on the Reliability Based Design Assessment(RBDA) methodology and tried to derive a reasonable risk ranking by linking it with the CPMS system.

  • Automatic Vision Inspection(AVI) systems automatically detect defect features and measure their sizes via camera vision. It is important to predict the performance of an AVI to meet customer's specification in advance. In this paper, we propose a statistical method for prediction of false alarm rate regarding inconsistency of defect size measuremet process. We only need are a simple experimental trial for repeated defect size measurement test. The statistical features from the experiement are utilized in the prediction process. Therefore, the proposed method is swift and easy to implement and use. The experiment shows a close prediction compared to manual inspection results.

  • AVI (Automatic Vision Inspection) systems automatically detect defect features and measure their sizes via camera vision. It is important to predict the performance of an AVI to meet customer's specification in advance. Also the prediction can indicate the level of current performance of an AVI system. In this paper, we propose a statistical method for prediction of false alarm rate regarding inconsistency of defect size measurement process.   • Borescopes facilitate the inspection of areas inside machines and systems that are not directly accessible for visual inspection. They offer real-time, up-close access to confined and hard-to-access spaces without having to dismantle or destructure the object under inspection. Borescopes are ideal instruments for routine maintenance, quality inspection and monitoring of systems and structures. The main application being fault or defect detection, it is useful to have measuring capability to quantify object dimensions in a target area. High-end borescopes use multi-optic solutions to provide measurement information of viewed objects. Multi-optic solutions can provide accurate measurements at the expense of structural complexity and cost increase. Measuring functionality is often unavailable in low-end, single camera borescopes. In this paper, a single camera measurement solution that enables the size estimation of viewed objects is proposed. The proposed solution computes and overlays a scaled grid of known spacing value over the screen view, enabling the human inspector to estimate the size of the objects in view. The proposed method provides a simple means of measurement that is applicable to low-end borescopes with no built-in measurement capability.

Determination of Target Value under Automatic Vision Inspection Systems (자동시각검사환경하에서 공정 목표치의 설정)

  • This paper deals with problem of determining process target value under automated visual inspection(AVI) system. Three independent error sources - digitizing error, illumination error, and positional error - which have a close relationship with the performance of the AVI system, are considered. Assuming that digitizing error is uniformly or normally distributed and illumination and positional errors are normally distributed, respectively, the distribution function for the error of measured lengths is derived when the length of a product is measured by the AVI system. Then, Optimal target values under two error models of AVI system are obtained by minimizing the total expected cost function which consists of give away, rework and penalty cost. To validate two process setting models, AVI system for drinks filling process is made up and test results are discussed.

  • The outlet feeder pipe thinning in a PHWR (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor) is caused by a high pressure steam flow inside the pipe, which is a well known degradation mechanism called a FAC (Flow Assisted Corrosion). In order to monitor the degradation, the thickness of the outlet bends close to the exit of the pressure tube should be measured and analyzed at every official overhaul. This paper describes a mobile feeder pipe inspection robot that can minimize the irradiation dose to human workers by automating the measurement process. The robot can move by itself on the feeder pipe by using an inch worm mechanism, which is constructed by two gripper bodies that can fix the robot body on to the pipe, one extendable and contractible actuator, and a rotation actuator connected to the two gripper bodies to move forward and backward, and to rotate in a circumferential direction.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the characteristics of the color computer vision to discriminate apple surface color for grading apples by their color. It was intended to develop the techniques to be able to discriminate apple color as precisely as human inspection does. For the purpose, discrimination of apple color by human inspection was checked and justified ; various illumination methods for various frames of the color computer vision(R, G, B, H, S and I frames) were tested ; and several methods to analyze image informations of the color computer vision were tried to evaluate their ability to discriminate apple color close to the human inspection.
