  • As the computerized methods and equipments In nuclear medicine imaging increases, quantitative information is needed on the single photon emission computed tomographic Images as well as on the conventional nuclear medicine images. In this paper, the authors investigated the effect of several clinician - friendly reconstrution filters on the resultant transverse slices of backprojected Profiles of radioisotope distribution from the Quantitative point of view, and reduced the filter parameters such as cutoff frequency and order of filter which are neces mary to minimize the quantification error using computer-generated phantoms.

  • Usually, orthodontic treatment has been difficult or confused. But orthodontic treatment for prosthodontic/periodontic therapy is usually simple and have a lot of advantages to dental clinicians. Biological occlusion concept is very important in dental treatment of clinician. The following clinical case shows the combination of orthodontic occlusion in the upper arch and normal in the lower.

  • The purpose of obturating the prepared root canal can be simply stated as to eliminate all avenues of leakage from the oral cavity or the periradicular tissues into the root canal system and to seal within the system any irritants that cannot be fully removed during canal cleaning and shaping procedures. The ability to achieve three-dimensional obturation of the root canal system is primarily dependent on the quality of the canal cleaning and shaping and the skill of the clinician.(omitted)

  • Sinus Schneiderian membrane elevation surgery is widely performed for dental implant placement in the maxillary posterior region. With regard to sinus elevation surgery, various complications can occur and lead to implant failure. For successful implants in the maxillary posterior region, the clinician must be well acquainted with sinus anatomy and pathology, a variety of bone graft materials, the principles of sinus elevation surgery, and prevention and management of complications.

  • Modern endodontics has essentially changed following the introduction of the dental microscope since 1990's. One of main advantage of using dental microscope in nonsurgical endodontic treatment is enhancing clinician's ability and quality of treatment through illumination and magnification. Scopes of dental microscope in nonsurgical endodontics are finding a missed or additional root canal and a tooth crack, management of procedural errors, and others. These improvements in technology will result in greater confidence in treatment and better success in clinical practice.

  • Based on the broad and in-depth literature review, the dedicated members of the committee for the development of Korean attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) practice parameter develop the Korean practice parameter for ADHD. Members of the Korean Academy of child and Adolescent Psychiatry (KACAP) had reviewed the drafts through off-line and on-line access to the drafts. Feedbacks from the members of KACAP were carefully integrated into the current practice parameter. This article presents the state of the art knowledge regarding the assessment and the management of ADHD. Recommendations in the end of the practice parameter may help clinician to make decisions in clinical practice, but are not likely to override the clinician's decision in natural settings. Future directions to complement the limitation of the current practice parameter is suggested.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the relative radiopacities of cavity lining materials (Resin-modified Glass Ionomer cement, Compomer and Plowable resin) for posterior composite resin restoration. Material & Methods: Resin-modified glass ionomer cement (Fuji II LC, Vitrebond/sup TM/), Compomers (Dyract /sup (R)/ Compoglass, F2,000, Dyract/sup (R)/ flow Compoglass Flow) and Flowable resins (Tetric/sup (R)/ flow, Aeliteflo/sup TM/ Revolution/sup TM/) were used. Five specimens of 5 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick were fabricated with each material. Human molars were horizontally sectioned 2 mm thick to include both enamel and dentin. The radiopacities of enamel, dentin, cavity lining materials, aluminum step wedge were obtainded from conventional radiograph and NIH image program. Results: All the tested lining materials showed levels of radiopacity the same as or greater than that of dentin. All compomer tested (Dyract, Compoglass, F2,000, Dyract flow, Compoglass Flow) and Vitrebond/sup TM/, Tetric/sup (R)/ flow were more radiopaque than enamel. The radiopacities of Fuji II LC and Revolution/sup TM/ were between enamel and dentin and resin-modified glass ionomer cement, Compomer and Tetric/sup (R)/ flow were greater than those of Revolution/sup TM/, Aeliteflo/sup TM/ or dentin. The level of radiopacity of the tested materials was variable; those with low radiopacity should be avoided in class II restorations, where a clear determination of recurrent caries by the examining clinician could be compromised. Conclusion: Clinician should be able to distinguish these cavity lining materials radiographically from recurrent decay, voids, gaps, or other defects that lead to clinical failure. Utilization of materials ranked more radiopaque than enamel would enable clinicians to distinguish the lining material from tooth structure.

  • The aim of this study is to evaluate the patient's and clinician's response to rapid oral HIV screening test. Attitude assessment survey was carried out on patients test with rapid oral HIV screening test and clinicians who conducted the test. The patients and clinicians were present at the dental hospital and clinics which were participating in the research project, between March and May 2010. Rapid oral HIV screening test is safe and efficient to the patients. It also demonstrated reliability to accuracy and confidentiality, and high recommendation to rapid oral HIV screening test. The clinician survey revealed high test convenience and high appraisal to patient satisfaction. In conclusion, if rapid oral HIV screening test becomes more common, patients will receive safe and convenient and high reliable HIV infection test, while clinicians will be able to create safe dental care environment.

  • Objective : The present study was carried out in order to assess the effects of Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy (CBGT) on victims of school violence, as assessed by the CAPS-CA. Methods : The subjects were 14 children who had experienced school violence and were subsequently diagnosed with PTSD and partial PTSD using the Clinician-Administered PTSD scale for Children and Adolescents (CAPS-CA). Seven children agreed to participate in CBGT, and they received 10 sessions of therapy. After CBGT, both the CBGT and non-CBGT groups were assessed using the CAPS-CA and School Adaptation Test. Results : The study results showed significant decreases in avoidance (p=0.010) and hyperarousal in the CBGT group (p=0.009) following the completion of CBGT. The analysis of school adaptation showed that there was a significant improvement in peer relationships after CBGT in the CBGT group (p=0.045). Conclusion : CBGT is effective in improving PTSD symptoms in children who experience school violence and subsequently suffer from PTSD.
