Purpose: Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of allergic disease. However, the effect of allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) on ILCs remains to be clarified. The aim of this study was to evaluate the levels of ILC subsets in allergic rhinitis (AR) patients in response to house dust mite (HDM)-specific immunotherapy. Methods: We enrolled 37 AR patients undergoing AIT (16 responders and 11 non-responders) for 2 years, 35 HDM AR patients and 28 healthy subjects. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were analyzed by flow cytometry to identify ILC subsets. Stimulation of ILC2s with recombinant allergen-specific protein was used to determine ILC2's activation (CD69 expression). Results: Responder AIT patients and healthy subjects had a decreased frequency of circulating ILC2s compared to non-responder AIT and AR patients. Conversely, ILC1s from responder AIT patients and healthy subjects showed increased frequency compared to non-responder AIT and AR patients. The frequency of ILC3s natural cytotoxicity receptor $(NCR)^+$ and $NCR^-$ in responder AIT patients was significantly lower compared to AR patients and healthy subjects. The ILC1: ILC2 proportion in responder AIT patients was similar to that of healthy subjects. PBMCs from patients who were responders to AIT had a significantly lower expression of the activation marker CD69 on ILC2s in response to allergen re-stimulation compared to AR patients, but no difference compared to non-responder AIT patients and healthy subjects. Conclusions: We propose that AIT might affect ILC responses. The activation of ILC2s was reduced in AR patients treated with AIT. Our results indicate that a relative ILC1/ILC2 skewed response is a possible key to successful AIT.

Recent studies suggested that the ovarian cancers with negative excision repair cross-complementation group 1 enzyme (ERCC1) expression have a better response to platinum-based chemotherapy than those with positive ERCC1 expression. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether ERCC1 expression is associated with response to platinum-based chemotherapy in ovarian cancers. MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Science and CNKI databases were used for searching studies relating to ERCC1 protein expression and response to platinum-based chemotherapy in ovarian cancers. Statistical analysis was based on the method for a fixed effects meta-analysis. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals for ERCC1 protein expression and response to platinum-based chemotherapy were generated. Publication bias was investigated with Begg's test. Five studies involving 306 patients with ovarian cancer were included. Compared to patients with positive ERCC1 expression, those with negative ERCC1 expression had a better response to platinum-based chemotherapy. The pooled OR was 5.264 (95% CI: 2.928-9.464, P < 0.001) and publication bias was not found (P = 0.904). The result was similar in both in Asians and Caucasians (P < 0.001 and P = 0.028, respectively). ERCC1 protein expression status is significantly associated with response to platinum-based chemotherapy in ovarian cancers.
Background: This systemic analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an ifosfamide-containing regimen in treating patients with osteosarcoma. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of Ifosfamide-containing regimen on response and safety for patients with osteosarcoma were identified by using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rate (RR) of treatment were calculated. Results: When ifosfamide-containing regimens were evaluated, 4 clinical studies which including 134 patients with osteosarcoma were considered eligible for inclusion. Systemic analysis suggested that, in all patients, pooled RR was 44.8% (60/134) in ifosfamide-containing regimens. Major adverse effects were neutropenia, leukopenia, and fatigue inIfosfamide-containing regimens; No treatment related death occurred in cantharidin combined regimens. Conclusion: This systemic analysis suggests that ifosfamide-containing regimens are associated with good response rate and acceptable toxicity in treating patients with osteosarcoma, but this result should be confirmed by randomized clinical trials.
Background: This systematic analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cantharidin combined with chemotherapy in treating Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of cantharidin combined with chemotherapy on response and safety for Chinese patients with colorectal cancer were identified using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rate (RR) of treatment were calculated. Results: When cantharidin combined with chemotherapy, 4 clinical studies which included 155 patients with advanced colorectal cancer were considered eligible for inclusion. The systematic analysis suggested that, in all patients, pooled RR was 46.5% (72/155) in cantharidin combined regimens. Major adverse effects were neutropenia, leukopenia, fatigue, and anemia with cantharidin combined treatment; no treatment related deaths occurred. Conclusion: This systematic analysis suggests that cantharidin combined regimens are associated with high response rate and accepted toxicity in treating Chinese patients with metastatic colorectal cancer suggesting that randomized clinical trials are now warranted.
Studies of oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil and leucovorin in pretreated metastatic colorectal cancer showed that oxaliplatin dose intensity is important prognostic factor for objective response rates and progression-free-survival (PFS). To evaluate response rates, PFS and toxicity according to oxaliplatin dose intensity, we retrospectively analyzed data from patients with metastatic colorectal cancer received oxaliplatin,5-fluorouracil, leucovorin regimens. Sixty-three patients were reviewed in this study, 42 patients received low dose intensity oxaliplatin (LDI: $\leq85\;mg/m^2/2wks$) and 21 patients high dose intensity oxaliplatin (HDI: $>85\;mg/m^2/2wks$). Objective responses occurred in 10 $(47.7\%)$ HDI patients and 9 $(21.4\%)$ LDI patients (p = 0.014). Median PFS was 24.7 weeks in HDI group, with $45.1\%$ of HDI patients progression free at 6 months, and 20.5 weeks in LDI group, with $33.5\%$ of LDI patients progression free at 6 months (p = 0.344). Increased oxaliplatin dose intensity was not associated with neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, neuropathy, nausea and vomiting. This study showed that oxaliplatin dose intensification significantly improves objective response rate in pretreated metastatic colorectal cancer without increasing severe toxicity.
The immune response of Bee Venom Therapy is commonly appear in clinics. It is whole body delayed allergy type and generally like fatigue. Therefore, in order to analysis the clinical form, we have observed immune response of 100 patients who visited Sangji University Oriental Medical Hospital and treated Bee Venom Therapy over 10 times from November 1998 to October 1999. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The distribution of Sex was 60 females, 40 males, and the average of patients age was $50.6{\pm}1.5years$. 2. The distribution of disease was degenerative arthritis, HIVD of L-spine, RA, etc. 3. The total treated time is 2765 and is observed 361 immume responses. 4. The average of keeping time in immume response is $11.8{\pm}0.6(hr)$, and the cases of over 24hrs is occupied 24.0%. 5. In the correlation between treated times and immume response is generally in inverse proportion. 6. The general aspect of immume response is chilling, heating, powerless, headache, dizziness, etc. 7. $M{\ddot{u}}ller$ Grade II-III was observed only 1%.
Objective : The association of cancer survival and components of the systemic inflammatory response, combined to form inflammation-based prognostic scores (modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS), Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio, Platelet Lymphocyte Ratio) is reviewed in this article. Methods and Results : With extensive research of papers in the PubMed, there is good evidence that preoperative measures of the systemic inflammatory response predict cancer survival, independent of tumor stage, in primary operable cancer. GPS also shows its prognostic value as a predictor of survival, independent of tumor stage, performance status and treatment in a variety of advanced cancer. GPS is associated with chemotherapy related toxicities as well as response to treatment and C-reactive protein shows its clinical value as a monitor of chemotherapy response. The systemic inflammatory response is closely related to cachexia and may be suitable measure for the clinical definition of cancer cachexia. Conclusion : Anticipated survival using the inflammation-based prognostic score is a major factor to be taken into consideration when deciding whether active intervention including surgery and chemotherapy or palliation therapy including acupuncture and herb medication is appropriate.
The purpose of this study was to find out the present condition of clinical practice and to develop a scheme on the efficiency of clinical practice for nursing education in junior college of nursing in korea. This study was conducted by 2 sections. Ist section was to find out the present condition of clinical practice to 42 directors of nursing collegd and data were collected July 8 to September 30, 1988. 2nd section wat to develop a scheme on the efficiency of clinical practice for nursing education and subjects were nursing professors 258: and clinical nurses 223 in 42 junior nursing colleges their clinical settings in korea. So total subjects were 481. Data were collected july 8, 1988 to June 30, 1988 and were analysed to get the mean, standand deviation, frequency, percentage, t-test, x-test used by SPSS - pc. Measurements of ovarian reserve play an important role in predicting the clinical results of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The ideal markers of ovarian reserve for clinical applications should have high specificity in order to determine genuine poor responders. Basal follicle-stimulating hormone levels, antral follicle count, and serum anti-$M{\ddot{u}}llerian$ hormone (AMH) levels have been suggested as ovarian reserve tests that may fulfill this requirement, with serum AMH levels being the most promising parameter. Serum AMH levels have been suggested to be a predictor of clinical pregnancy in ART for older women, who are at a high risk for decreased ovarian response. We reviewed the prognostic significance of ovarian reserve tests for patients undergoing ART treatment, with a particular focus on the significance of serum AMH levels in patients at a high risk of poor ovarian response.
This analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of carboplatin based chemotherapy in treating pediatric patients with Wilms tumors. Methods: Clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of carboplatin based regimens on response and safety for pediatric patients with Wilms tumors were identified using a predefined search strategy. Pooled response rates (RRs) of treatment were calculated. Results: In carboplatin based regimens, 4 clinical studies which including 127 patients with advanced Wilms tumors were considered eligible for inclusion. With this carboplatin based chemotherapy, 2 clinical studies included carboplatin, ifosfamide and etoposide. Systemic analysis suggested that, in all patients, the pooled PR was 64.5% (82/127) in carboplatin based regimens. Thrombocytopenia and leukocytopenia were the main side effects. No grade III or IV renal or liver toxicity was observed. No treatment related death occurred with carboplatin based treatment. Conclusion: This systemic analysis suggests that carboplatine based regimens are associated with a reasonable response rate and accepted toxicities for treating pediatric patients with Wilms tumors.
