The transport and deposition of corrosion products in pressurized water nuclear reactor (PWR) steam generators have led to corrosion (SCC, denting etc.) problems. Lancing, mechanical cleaning and chemical cleaning have been used to reduce these problems. The methods of lancing and mechanical cleaning have limitations in removing corrosion products due to the structure of steam generator tubes. But high temperature chemical cleaning (HTCC) with EDTA is the most effective method to remove corrosion products regardless of the structure. However, EDTA in chemical cleaning aqueous solution and chemical cleaning environments affects the integrity of materials used in steam generators. The nuclear power plants have to perform the pre-test (also called as qualification test (QT)) that confirms the effect on the integrity of materials after HTCC. This is one of the series studies that assess the effect, and this study determines the effects of 20 % EDTA aqueous solution on defective tubes in high temperature chemical cleaning environments. The depth and magnitude of defects in steam generator (SG) tubes were measured by eddy current test (ECT) signals. Surface analysis and magnitude of defects were performed by using SEM/EDS. Corrosion rate was assessed by weight loss of specimens. The ECT signals (potential and depth %) of defective tubes increased marginally. But the lengths of defects, oxides on the surface and weights of specimens did not change. The average corrosion rate of standard corrosion specimens was negligible. But the surfaces on specimens showed traces of etching. The depth of etching showed a range on the nanometer. After comprehensive evaluation of all the results, it is concluded that 20 % EDTA aqueous solution in high temperature chemical cleaning environments does not have a negative effect on defective tubes.

CFC compounds such as CFC-113 and 1,1,1-TCE, etc. have been used in various industries due to their excellent chemical stability, thermodynamic characteristics, non-inflammability and anti-corrosiveness. However, in oder to protect the earth environment, "the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer" was adopted in 1989 for prevention of production and utilization of these CFC compounds and alternative cleaning agent have been required in the industry. The objective of this study is to develop non-aqueous cleaning agents that do not require major change of cleaning system, have excellent cleaning efficiency, are favorable to the environment, are harmless to the human body, and are not generated corrosive materials. In this work, non-aqueous cleaning agents have been formulated with glycol ether series and paraffinic hydrocarbon series with siloxane, and their physical properties and cleaning efficiencies were analyzed and compared with those of regulated materials. As a result of physical properties measurement of the formulated cleaning agents, it is expected that they may have good penetration ability into contaminated materials due to their properties with low density and low surface tension. Measurement of flash point and vapor pressure of the cleaning agents will be helpful for evaluation of their safety and working environment. The experimental results of cleaning flux, solder and grease by the formulated cleaning agents show that their cleaning abilities of soils were good and that there were no residues on the substance after cleaning. Therefore, alternative cleaning agents which have equivalent cleaning ability to regulating materials, good penetration ability and low hazard to human body, have been developed in this work.
Electron beam generator of cold cathode type has been developed for industrial application, for example, waste water cleaning, flue gas cleaning, and pasteurization etc. The operational principle is based on the emission of secondary electrons from cold cathode when ions in the plasma hit the cathode, which are accelerated toward exit window by the gradient of an electric potential. The characteristics of secondary electron emission are studied by comparing total cathode current with ion current.

For this reason, the market for the cleaning robot is not yet built up. So, we need a design method and technological algorithm of new automatic machine to solve the problem of mess-cleanup in house. In this paper, a Home Mess-Cleanup Robot(HMR), which has a practical function of the automatic mess-cleanup, is developed. It need functions of agile automatic navigation, novel manipulation system for mess-cleanup. The automatic navigation system has to be controlled for the full scanning of living room, to recognize the absolute position and orientation of the self, the precise tracking of the desired path, and to distinguish the mess object to clean-up from obstacle object to just avoid. The manipulation system, which is not needed in the vacuum-cleaning robot, must have the functions, how to distinguish big trash to clean from mess objects to arrange, how to grasp in according to the form of mess objects, how to move to the destination in according to mess objects and arrange them. Then, it should be an intelligent system so that the mess cleaning task can be autonomously performed in a wide variety of situations and environments. It need to also has the entertainment functions for the good communication between the human and HMR. Therefore, the Home Mess-cleanup Robot with Entertainmental Human Interface is developed in this paper. Finally, the good performance of the designed machine, HMR'4, is confirmed through the results of the mess clean-up and arrangement.

In this study, aqueous/semi-aqueous cleaning agents which consist of organic solvent, surfactant, cosurfactant, and water were developed by changing formulation parameters such as organic solvent type and contents, surfactant type and contents, and cosurfactant/surfactant(A/S) ratio, etc.. And physical properties and flux removal of the formulated cleaning agents have been evaluated. Also, the performance of oil-water separation from the rinse water contaminated during the cleaning process was evaluated for its recycling. The formulated cleaning agents in this work expected to have good penetration because of their low viscosity and low surface tension values of 30.2~32.5 dyne/cm. The flux removal with the terpene type cleaning agent was higher than that with hydrocarbon type cleaning agent and two commercial products (CPA(commercial product A), CPB(commercial product B)). And the performance of oil-water separation by gravity settling from the rinse water contaminated with formulated cleaning agent and soils was shown to be very good. The cleaning agents developed in this work were applied to surface mounting technology(SMT) cleaning process for manufacturing electronic parts at L electronic company. As a result, the newly developed cleaning agents showed two times better cleaning speed for removal of solder cream than the conventional ond containing ethanol and IPA(isopropyl alcohol). In addition, malodor and VOC problems generated by the previous organic cleaning agents have been solved in the manufacturing field through introduction of the non-volatile and environmental-friendly cleaning agents to the field.
The objective of this study is to develop hydrocarbon-based cleaning agents by blending paraffins, glycol ethers and siloxanes in oder to effectively clean contaminants such as flux, solder and grease. And the effect of cleaning ability by wetting index, aniline points and solubility parameter of the formulated hydrocarbon-based cleaning agents were studied in this work. The formulated hydrocarbon-based cleaning agents were prepared on the base of physical properties of their individual components. Wetting indexes and aniline points of their were measured through experiments and solubility parameters of their were calculated based on the Hansen's equation. In this study, evaluation of cleaning ability by cleaning agents were carried out using contaminants such as flux, solder, and grease. The experimental results showed that the cleaning ability of the formulated cleaning agents was excellent in cleaning contaminants such as flux, solder and grease and that the influencing parameters on their cleaning efficiency were found to be different according to contaminant types. MC($20.3MPa^{1/2}$), DF-1 ($24.2MPa^{1/2}$) and DF-2($21.5MPa^{1/2}$) with similar solubility parameter as flux ($21.3MPa^{1/2}$) showed 100% cleaning efficiency within 3 minutes in flux cleaning. And CFC-113, MC and 1,1,1-TCE with low aniline point less than $-20^{\circ}C$ showed excellent cleaning efficiency in solder cleaning. DG-1($16.2\;MPa^{1/2}$) and DG-2($15.5\;MPa^{1/2}$) with similar solubility parameter as grease($15.0{\sim}17.0\;MPa^{1/2}$) showed relatively low cleaning efficiency of grease, but CFC-113 and MC with high wetting index and low aniline point showed good cleaning efficiency in grease cleaning. As a result of this study, the hydrocarbon-based cleaning agents alternative to regulated cleaning agents such as CFC-113, 1,1,1-TCE and MC were able to be developed through properly blending paraffins, glycol ethers and siloxanes for cleaning flux, solder and grease. And it can be shown that various influencing parameters of cleaning efficiency such as wetting index, aniline point, solubility parameter and etc. of the non-aqueous cleaning agent should be reviewed for prediction of their cleaning ability and can be applied to formulation of cleaning agents.

Cleaning by injecting dry ice and water is a generally adopted trend these days to clean molds (injection, diecasting foundry, press, rubber mold, etc). This cleaning method is performed manually, or by installing multiple high pressure spray nozzles. We have manufactured a turbine cleaning module device that is able to clean diecasting modules at any position and angle in the space by mounting an articulated robot instead of the existing pipe type injection nozzle, to minimize lead time and enhance working yield of the cleaning process. In this paper, we analyzed process factors that are required to design the turbine module by reviewing number of revolution, and results according to different blade angles and thicknesses of the mold release injection turbine module, using computational fiuid dynamics (CFD).

In this study, the large-scale hydraulic model test was performed to investigate the hydraulic characteristics for development of the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system at the dike gate. The outlet height, outflow number, outflow discharge, and outflow cycle were compared and analyzed. The non-power soil cleaning and keeping system was most effective at 11.2 mm in the outlet height. And then the mean outflow cycle was 1.09 sec, and the mean outflow discharge was $0.00164m^3/s$. The total outflow number increased gradually as the water level of a water tank increased, and the outlet height decreased. As a level of water tank decreased, the mean outflow cycle was lengthened, and the unit outflow discharge increased. This result showed this system was most effective. To remove the silty clay deposited in facilities, the methods of excavation, dredging, high pressure washing, etc have been applied to the tidal facilities such as land reclamation, a small size fishing port, and a harbor for maintenance. However, this is extremely cost-ineffective, whereas the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system will bring about an enormously positive economic effect. In addition, when the non-power soil cleaning and keeping system is applied to the dike gate of land reclamation, a thorough examination of the local tidal data and the careful system planning are required to prevent the disaster damage caused by flooding.
