  • Cavernocypris gosuensis n. sp. (Cyprididiae, Cypridopsinae), a new subterranean ostracod species is described with figures of female valves, mouthparts, appendeges and SEM photos from Gosu cave, Danyang-Gun, Chungcheongbuk-Do in Korea. The new stygobiont speices is sixth of the genus Caveroncypris Hartmann, 1964 that characterized by both valeves with a median concave part in ventral view and two groove lines in dorsal view, the reduction of the furca, which is flagellum like in female and the left valve ventrally overlaps the right valve when the carapace is closed and can be distinguished from its congers by left valve with 6 muscle scars in innerpart, mandible palp with one claw and 3 setae on the terminal segment and without seta on the exterodistal border of segment III. The animals were collected within pH 7.31-8.74, temperature ($^{\circ}C$) 13.0-14.6 and dissolved oxygen (mg/l 6.75-14.84 from Aug.2003 to Sep.2004.

  • This study is first report on dermatitis digitalis and dermatitis verrucosa, which were occurred in bovine claw, in the Republic of Korea. Pathologically, dermatitis digitalis was observed in the from of surperficial epidermitis on the skin at the caudal end of interdigital cleft with whitish epithelial bordel while dermatitis verrucosa in the form of wart-like proliferation of the skin midway between the bulbs and adjacent to the coronary band. Histological finding of dermatitis verrucosa were noticeable parakeratotic hyperkeratosis of the epidermis, acanthosis, spongiosis of prickle cell layer and intercellular bridges.

  • Three new marine heterotardigrades, Archechiniscus symbalanus, and Styraconyx craticuliformis of the family Halechiniscidae and Echiniscoides andamanensis of the family Echiniscoididae, are reported on the basis of the specimens sieved from intertidal barnacles in the Thai coast of the Andaman Sea. Archechinisos symbalanus n. sp. is related to Archehiniscus minutus Grimaldi De Zio and D'Addabbo Gallo, but discernible from it by possessing median cirrus, stylet sheath, sensory spine of leg l, prominent basal processes on all leg pairs, and S-shaped seminal receptacles. Styraconyx craticuliformis n. sp. is similar to S. craticulus (Pollock) in bearing the grid-like dorsal cuticle, but distinguished from it by the shape of claws and cirrophore of primary clava. Ediniscoides andamanensis n. sp. is rebated to Echiniscoides pollocki Hallas and Kristensen and E. sigismundi sigismundi (M. Schultze) in sharing the same patterns of sensory leg appendages and the claw configuration of 8-8-8-7, but characterized by the shape of cirri, pharyngeal apparatus and female gonopore.

  • The abnormal male Newhampshire of five months age with three hindlimbs was examined macroscopically and radiographically The external feature included two normal wings, two normal hindlimbs and an underdeveloped extra hindlimb, which was attached to the pelvic region. The extra hindlimb consisted of an underdeveloped femur like bone, tibiotarsus likebone, tarsometatarsus like bone and three rows of digits with claw. The femur like bone was fused with pelvic girdle like bone. The bones of extra hindlimb were fused into one except one row of digit, which was attached to the tibiotarsus like bone. Three ceca and one cloaca with two vents were also observed.

  • Lichomolgus panikkari Gnanamuthu, 1955 (=Indomolgus panikkari), an incompletely known species, is redescribed based on a male specimen found newly from the Yellow Sea. A new genus of copepods, Lutumidomus, is proposed to incorporate Lichomolgus panikkari, Notoxynus tertius Kim, 2000, and Lutumidomus parvus n. sp., all associated with sea anemones. The new genus is differentiated from the related genera by a combination of characters that the antenna is 4-segmented, with a claw and an enlarged seta in addition to other setae on the fourth segment, the third endopodal segment of leg 3 is armed with two spines and two setae, the second endopodal segment of leg 4 is armed with two spines and three setae, and the maxillule is armed with two terminal setae. Paramolgus nudipes n. sp. and Verutipes scutatus n. sp. are also described as associates of sea anemones from Korean seas.

  • A new species of harpacticoid copepod Alteuthoides affinis associated with the sponge Callyspongia elegans (Thiele) was collected from offshore waters of Cheju Island, Korea, and is described with illustrations. In this genus, only one species, A. kootare Hicks, has been known to occur in association with an hexacnellid sponge from New Zealand. The new species is similar to A. kootare in the general morphologies such as the shape of body, oral appendages, and thoraxic legs. However, it can be separated from A. kootare by the expanded genital double semite, P1 exopod bearing only one claw without reduced accessary nail, and acute rostrum.

  • The micro permanent magnet(PM) type stewing motor preferred solution for many small electronics position determination devices since it is small in size. Thus, there are growing demands for PM type stepping motor that greater mechanical output, smaller size. But, the design of the it, having high performance and small size is very difficult because of its complex mechanical structure. This paper deals with a development of the newly structured micro PM type stepping motor with claw-poles. We introduced the small-sized PM type stepping motor that has new structure and analyzed the magnetic characteristic of it versus general type model using 3-D finite element analysis(FEA).

  • Plantar corn is a circumscribed and sharply demarcated hard mass of traumatic hyperkeratosis, which has a central core impacting the dermis deeply and causes pain while walking. The cause of the corn is the mechanical stress to the skin induced by several causative factors; extrinsic(tight shoes) or intrinsic(bony prominence), or combined(the claw toe). We found 7 cases of patients with a painful recurrent plantar corn which had an epidermal cyst under its lesion. These corns and cysts were excised totally and there was no recurrence in all cases during two to four months follow-up period. We think that an epidermal cyst may be another intrinsic factor for the development of a plantar corn. So, an epidermal cyst should be considered once in a recurrent plantar corn to be recalcitrant against popular treatments.
