This study is on the architectural planning and factors for secondary schools. The methods in the approach to the results were settled. A sample of factors that affect architectural scale design were drawn from architectural design direction for a secondary school architectural scale estimation direction. These factors arc broken into primary elements and situational elements. Primary elements include students, teachers, and time. Situational elements include public use percentage, classroom percentage, unit area, coefficient of utilization, etc. The 7 architectural planning criteria to cover changes of various architectural scale design elements are the following; 1) consideration of students selection percentage, 2) consideration of the number of teachers, 3) a variety of possible classrooms, 4) organic operation, 5) efficient time management, 6) consideration of different teaching method depending on subjects, 7) coefficient of utilization with flexibility.

This paper was made for the purpose of examining middle school student's conception about force and motion. Using questionaire method. this research was executed to 180 students at a middle school in Seoul. Questions were as following; 3 questions about relation of the direction of force and that of motion in case of throwing a ball up, 2 questions about parabolic motion. 1 question about inertia. and 1 question about action and reaction. The way of answering was both selecting and explaining the students' thought about questions. Network analysis was used for analyzing students' various responses. Through the analysis. some types of students' thought were revealed. As a result the representation of their response was motion implies force which had been discovered by earlier researchers. Even though students had learned about force and motion in the classroom. their ideas were unchanged or even reinforced wrongly in some case.
This study is research on physical health and mental health(physical and mental symptom at school) in perceived school environment among adolescents. The study subjects ere selected by senior high school students in seoul and random sampling. The 3,060 subjects were selected 18 schools. The duration for survey was for Nov. 25-Dec. 13, 1998. The reliability of Questionnaire was Cronbach's $\alpha=0.95$. This study used multiple regression through Factor Analysis in SPSS programs. The major findings of this study are as follows: (1) All of Multiple Regression Models were significant. (p<0.001). (2) Physical Mental health is related to gender, personal environment, and economic status. (3) Physical Health is related to perceived school environmental variable (therapeutic teacher-student relationships, classrom climate, and school life satisfaction) among adolescents. (4) Mental Health is related to perceived school environment variables(therapeutic teacher-student relationships, classroom climate, school life satisfaction, teachers' climate, and classmates' attitudes) among adolescents. This study could be used as the basis for the development of educational program, counseling, teacher in-service training, student teacher training and the establishment of educational and health policy.

The purpose of this study is to search for the effective way of development in managing Open Education Schools by analyzing obstacle reasons for school management of elementary school teachers on the basis of classroom site. This study researched 240 teachers and head teachers in three cities and counties of Chungbuk province through questionnaires which enquire obstacle reasons for Open Education. This research regarded 9 items including curriculum management and teaching method as main factors for consisting of Open Education School. And this analyzed the reactions from the percentages of interviewees. As a result of this analysis. obstacle reasons are as follows. 1. priority for academic background and the lack of school facilities and materials. 2. deficiency of teachers' belief in Open Education and unskilled practice. 3. closed situation in decision making and communication. 4. unreasonable management of finance and school facilities.
Multimedia-Assisted Language Learning(MALL) has recently been studied by many researchers. It has been reported that MALL is very effective in encouraging students' desire for learning, promoting their self-directed learning, and improving their communicative competence. Also, it has been evident that it depends on the quality of multimedia courseware whether MALL will be successful or not. However, many researchers have pointed out that most of multimedia coursewares coming into the market have little to do with our curriculum and they are not suitable for the use in the regular classroom. More multimedia coursewares that reflect our curriculum need to be developed. This paper first tries to explore the cognitive, constructivist, and psychological theories supportive of the development of multimedia courseware and then presents the overall procedure for designing and developing a multimedia courseware pursuant to the 7th English curriculum in the middle school. The multimedia courseware developed through this research is expected to enhance middle school students' communicative language skills in English and promote the development of multimedia coursewares of high quality.
Teacher's practical knowledge is potentially relevant to the teaching practice in his/her classroom. The research explored early childhood teachers' practical knowledge of 'curriculum' via conceptual metaphors. The participants (N=348) completed a prompt, "Curriculum is like A because B" and then the metaphors were analyzed according to the procedure proposed by Moser (2000). The analysis found that 8 themes (i.e. 'educational basis', 'learning opportunity', 'educational material', 'difficulty', 'change', 'pre-determination', 'discordance', and 'reconstruction') were the underlying conceptions signified in those metaphors. The implications regarding early childhood teachers' practical knowledge were discussed on the perspective of post-modern curriculum. Moreover, it recommended the practical knowledge based approach for early childhood teacher education, and transformation of current policy for program evaluation relevant to curriculum conceptualization.
This research delineated variables of maternal influences on children's social competence. The sample consisted of 287 pairs of 5th/6th grade students, their mothers, and 8 classroom teachers in Gwangju City. Analysis included factors of mother's adult attachment, marriage adjustment, affection in child-rearing, level of education and income. The result of multiple regression analysis indicated that affectionate child-rearing is the most significant factor contributing to child's social competence, followed by mother's education, close attachment, income, and anxiety attachment, in that order. These maternal variables accounted for 18% of the child's social competence.
Daylighting in building is very important as it has an effect on work performance as well as on their visual health. It is also regarded as a good energy conservation measure in saving energy used for lighting. There are many daylighting evaluation tools such as empirical equations, tables, nomograms, diagrams, protractors, computer simulation, scale models. This study conducted initial daylight measurements to analyze luminous environment in classrooms of elementary school and comparative analysis on three daylighting evaluation tools, such as daylight factor calculation formula, the graphic method with BRE Protractor and computer simulation with Adeline 3.0. It is found that the computer simulation tool produced the closest result to actual measurements of luminous environment in elementary school classroom, and the other simplified tools made appropriate results so that they can be used in the early stage of daylighting design process.
This study was executed in M elementary school for a week, T elementary school for a week, N high school for a week, and S high school for a week in 2000. There were mathematics teacher interviews, mathematics classroom observations, and student interviews in each school. We can draw the conclusion from this study as follows. Firstly, the teaching of mathematics in both elementary and high school was very good in the standard of mathematical concepts, procedures, and connection. Secondly, it is very good in the standard of mathematics as problem solving, reasoning, and communication. Thirdly, it is not so good in the standard of promoting mathematical disposition. Fourthly, it is good in elementary schools, but not in high schools regarding the standard of assessing students' understanding of mathematics. Fifthly, it is very good in elementary schools, but not so good in high schools regarding the standard of learning environments.
This study considers the performance of students in Grades 5 to 10 on four tasks assessing students' ability to evaluate data presented in numerical form, for example, in a list or table, or in graphical form, for example, in a frequency graph or scatter graph. The ability to tell a story from data or a graph is an important aspect of statistical literacy. The samples provide the opportunity to consider the association of two pairs of items, one from each type of interpretation, numerical and graphical. Educational implications for the outcomes and the classroom use of the items are considered.
