Fuzzy logic is used to represent qualitative knowledge and provides interpretability to a controlling system model in bioinformatics. This paper focuses on a bioinformatics data classification which is an important bioinformatics application. This paper reviews the two traditional controlling system models The sequence-based threshold controller have problems of optimal range decision for threshold readjustment and long processing time for optimal threshold induction. And the binary-based threshold controller does not guarantee for early system stability in the GPCR data classification for optimal threshold induction. To solve these problems, we proposes a fuzzy-based threshold controller for ART1 clustering in GPCR classification. We implement the proposed method and measure processing time by changing an induction recognition success rate and a classification threshold value. And, we compares the proposed method with the sequence-based threshold controller and the binary-based threshold controller The fuzzy-based threshold controller continuously readjusts threshold values with membership function of the previous recognition success rate. The fuzzy-based threshold controller keeps system stability and improves classification system efficiency in GPCR classification.

The target classification for ballistic target(BT) is one of the most critical issues of ballistic defence mode(BDM) in multi-function radar(MFR). Radar responds to the target according to the result of classifying BT and air breathing target(ABT) on BDM. Since the efficiency and accuracy of the classification is closely related to the capacity of the response to the ballistic missile offense, effective and accurate classification scheme is necessary. Generally, JEM(Jet Engine Modulation), HRR(High Range Resolution) and ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Array Radar) image are used for a target classification, which require specific radar waveform, data base and algorithms. In this paper, the classification method that is applicable to a MFR system in a real environment without specific waveform is proposed. The proposed classifier adopts kinematic data as a feature vector to save radar resources at the radar time and hardware point of view and is implemented by fuzzy logic of which simple implementation makes it possible to apply to the real environment. The performance of the proposed method is verified through measured data of the aircraft and simulated data of the ballistic missile.
Most images are composed as union of the various objects which can describe meaning respectively. Unlike human perception, The general computer systems used for image processing analyze images based on low level features like color, texture and shape. The semantic gap between low level image features and the richness of user semantic knowledges can bring about unsatisfactory classification results from user expectation. In order to deal with this problem, we propose a semantic cue based image classification method using salient points from object of interest. Salient points are used to extract low level features from images and to link high level semantic concepts, and they represent distinct semantic information. The proposed algorithm can reduce semantic gap using salient points modeling which are used for image classification like human perception. and also it can improve classification accuracy of natural images according to their semantic concept relative to certain object information by using salient points. The experimental result shows both a high efficiency of the proposed methods and a good performance.
In the real world, new types of attacks or variants are constantly emerging, but attack traffic classification models developed through artificial neural networks and supervised learning do not properly detect new types of attacks that have not been trained. Most of the previous studies overlooked this problem and focused only on improving the structure of their artificial neural networks. As a result, a number of new attacks were frequently classified as normal traffic, and attack traffic classification performance was severly degraded. On the other hand, the softmax function, which outputs the probability that each class is correctly classified in the multi-class classification as a result, also has a significant impact on the classification performance because it fails to calculate the softmax score properly for a new type of attack traffic that has not been trained. In this paper, based on this characteristic of softmax function, we propose an efficient method to improve the classification performance against new types of attacks by classifying traffic with a probability below a certain level as attacks, and demonstrate the efficiency of our approach through experiments.
Accurate field crop classification is essential for various agricultural applications, yet existing methods face challenges due to diverse crop types and complex field conditions. This study aimed to address these issues by combining support vector machine (SVM) models with multi-seasonal unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images, texture information extracted from Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), and RGB spectral data. Twelve high-resolution UAV image captures spanned March-October 2021, while field surveys on three dates provided ground truth data. We focused on data from August (-A), September (-S), and October (-O) images and trained four support vector classifier (SVC) models (SVC-A, SVC-S, SVC-O, SVC-AS) using visual bands and eight GLCM features. Farm maps provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs proved efficient for open-field crop identification and served as a reference for accuracy comparison. Our analysis showcased the significant impact of hyperparameter tuning (C and gamma) on SVM model performance, requiring careful optimization for each scenario. Importantly, we identified models exhibiting distinct high-accuracy zones, with SVC-O trained on October data achieving the highest overall and individual crop classification accuracy. This success likely stems from its ability to capture distinct texture information from mature crops.Incorporating GLCM features proved highly effective for all models, significantly boosting classification accuracy.Among these features, homogeneity, entropy, and correlation consistently demonstrated the most impactful contribution. However, balancing accuracy with computational efficiency and feature selection remains crucial for practical application. Performance analysis revealed that SVC-O achieved exceptional results in overall and individual crop classification, while soybeans and rice were consistently classified well by all models. Challenges were encountered with cabbage due to its early growth stage and low field cover density. The study demonstrates the potential of utilizing farm maps and GLCM features in conjunction with SVM models for accurate field crop classification. Careful parameter tuning and model selection based on specific scenarios are key for optimizing performance in real-world applications.
It is very important to select a split variable in constructing the classification tree. The efficiency of a classification tree algorithm can be evaluated by the variable selection bias and the variable selection power. The C4.5 has largely biased variable selection due to the influence of many distinct values in variable selection and the QUEST has low variable selection power when a continuous predictor variable doesn't deviate from normal distribution. In this thesis, we propose the SRT algorithm which overcomes the drawback of the C4.5 and the QUEST. Simulations were performed to compare the SRT with the C4.5 and the QUEST. As a result, the SRT is characterized with low biased variable selection and robust variable selection power.

The discretization process that converts continuous attributes into discrete ones is a preprocessing step in data mining such as classification. Some classification algorithms can handle only discrete attributes. The purpose of discretization is to obtain discretized data without losing the information for the original data and to obtain a high predictive accuracy when discretized data are used in classification. Many discretization algorithms have been developed. This paper presents the results of our comparative study on recently proposed representative discretization algorithms from the view point of splitting versus merging and supervised versus unsupervised. We implemented R codes for discretization algorithms and made them available for public users.

Face classification has wide applications in security and surveillance. However, this technique presents various challenges caused by pose, illumination, and expression changes. Face recognition with long-distance images involves additional challenges, owing to focusing problems and motion blurring. Multiple frames under varying spatial or temporal settings can acquire additional information, which can be used to achieve improved classification performance. This study investigates the effectiveness of multi-frame decision-level fusion with photon-counting linear discriminant analysis. Multiple frames generate multiple scores for each class. The fusion process comprises three stages: score normalization, score validation, and score combination. Candidate scores are selected during the score validation process, after the scores are normalized. The score validation process removes bad scores that can degrade the final output. The selected candidate scores are combined using one of the following fusion rules: maximum, averaging, and majority voting. Degraded facial images are employed to demonstrate the robustness of multi-frame decision-level fusion in harsh environments. Out-of-focus and motion blurring point-spread functions are applied to the test images, to simulate long-distance acquisition. Experimental results with three facial data sets indicate the efficiency of the proposed decision-level fusion scheme.

BIM based design methodology requires more information than traditional design methodology in order to insure efficiency throughout the project. BIM based design not only requires all building data in the form of 3D shapes, but also all other relevant data regarding building components. Information is typically grouped in a standard classification system such as by standardized material names. The development of a domestic BIM based standard classification system is yet to be created and deployed in the industry. Each designer is specifying their own building information classification systems which is causing inconsistency in the industry. Therefore BIM based designs, are causing confusion in the industry as each designer follow no guidelines for material standardization classification. The lack of information regarding this in the BIM template will continue to cause confusion about a projects building information data consistently. This study is that of preliminary research to develop a BIM template. First, overseas BIM templates were analyzed regarding BIM standards and documentation. Examination then followed regarding the element and characteristics needed for the development of a BIM template, a suggested hierarchy of elements required for a BIM template were then made. The result of this research is that it will be used to develop a "BIM template prototype", to support the generation of building information data regarding neighborhood facilities.
Wood identification is regularly performed by observing the wood anatomy, such as colour, texture, fibre direction, and other characteristics. The manual process, however, could be time consuming, especially when identification work is required at high quantity. Considering this condition, a convolutional neural networks (CNN)-based program is applied to improve the image classification results. The research focuses on the algorithm accuracy and efficiency in dealing with the dataset limitations. For this, it is proposed to do the sample selection process or only take a small portion of the existing image. Still, it can be expected to represent the overall picture to maintain and improve the generalisation capabilities of the CNN method in the classification stages. The experiments yielded an incredible F1 score average up to 93.4% for medium sample area sizes (200 × 200 pixels) on each CNN architecture (VGG16, ResNet50, MobileNet, DenseNet121, and Xception based). Whereas DenseNet121-based architecture was found to be the best architecture in maintaining the generalisation of its model for each sample area size (100, 200, and 300 pixels). The experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm can be an accurate and reliable solution.
