  • A procedure for estimating the zero class for a truncated Poisson sample is developed. Asymptotic normality of the estimator is established and a confidence interval for the missing zero class is obtained. This procedure is compared with the method obtained by Dahiya and Gross. Applications are given to illustrate the results obtained.

  • We introduce the concept of interval-valued fuzzy congruences on a semigroup S and we obtain some important results: First, for any interval-valued fuzzy congruence $R_e$ on a group G, the interval-valued congruence class Re is an interval-valued fuzzy normal subgroup of G. Second, for any interval-valued fuzzy congruence R on a groupoid S, we show that a binary operation * an S=R is well-defined and also we obtain some results related to additional conditions for S. Also we improve that for any two interval-valued fuzzy congruences R and Q on a semigroup S such that $R{\subset}Q$, there exists a unique semigroup homomorphism g : S/R${\rightarrow}$S/G.

  • We introduce the notion of interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy hyperideals, bi-hyperideals and quasi-hyperideals of an ordered semihypergroup. We characterize an interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy hyperideal of an ordered semihypergroup in terms of its level subset. Moreover, we show that interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy bi-hyperideals and quasi-hyperideals coincide only in a particular class of ordered semihypergroups. Finally, we show that every interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy quasi-hyperideal is the intersection of an interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy left hyperideal and an interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy right hyperideal.

  • One of the main objective of manufacturing industries is to assess the capability performance of different processes. In this paper, we use the lifetime performance index $C_L$ as a criterion to measure larger-the-better type quality characteristic for evaluating the product performance. The lifetimes of products are assumed to follow a general class of inverted exponentiated distributions. We use maximum likelihood estimator to estimate the lifetime performance index under the assumption that data are progressive type I interval censored. We also obtain asymptotic distribution of this estimator. Based on this estimator, a new hypothesis testing procedure is developed with respect to a given lower specification limit. Finally, two numerical examples are discussed in support of the proposed testing procedure.

  • First, we recall the results for prime-producing polynomials related to class number one problem of quadratic fields. Next, we give the relation between prime-producing cubic polynomials and class number one problem of the simplest cubic fields and then present the conjecture for the relations. Finally, we numerically compare the ratios producing prime values for several polynomials in some interval.

  • We investigate the lattice structure of various sublattices of the lattice of interval-valued fuzzy subrings of a given ring. We prove that a special class of interval-valued fuzzy ideals of a ring. Finally, we show that the lattice of interval-valued fuzzy ideals of R is not complemented[resp. has no atoms(dual atoms)].

  • The paper considers the problem of robustness in hierarchical bayesian models. In specific we address Bayesian robustness in the estimation of normal means. We provide the ranges of the posterior means under $\varepsilon$-contamination class as well as the density ratio class of priors. For the class of priors that are uniform over a specified interval we investigate the sensitivity as to the choice of the intervals. The methods are illustrated using the famous baseball data of Efron and Morris(1975).

  • HRIV(Hybrid Rule-Interval Variation) method is presented to stabilize a class of nonlinear systems, where SMC(Sliding Mode Control) and ADC (ADaptive Control) schemes are incorporated to overcome the unstable characteristics of a conventional FLC(Fuzzy Logic Control). HRIV method consists of two modes: I-mode (Integral Sliding Mode PLC) and R-mode(RIV method). In I-mode, SMC is used to compensate for MAE(Minimum Approximation Error) caused by the heuristic characteristics of FLC. In R-mode, RIV method reduces interval lengths of rules as states converge to an equilibrium point, which makes the defined Lyapunov function candidate negative semi-definite without considering MAE, and the new uncertain parameters generated in R-mode are compensated by SMC. In RIV method, the overcontraction problem that the states are out of a rule-table can happen by the excessive reduction of rule intervals, which is solved with a dynamic modification of rule-intervals and a transition to I-mode. Especially, HRIV method has advantages to use the analytic upper bound of MAE and to reduce Its effect in the control input, compared with the previous researches. Finally, the proposed method is applied to stabilize a simple nonlinear system and a modified inverted pendulum system in simulation experiments.

  • The quantity of data were rapidly increased recently and caused the data overwhelming. This led to be difficult in searching the required data. The method of eliminating redundant data was needed. One of the efficient methods was Knowledge Discovery in Database (KDD). Generally data can be separate into 2 cases, continuous data and discrete data. This paper describes algorithm that transforms continuous attributes into discrete ones. We present an Improved Class Attribute Interdependence Maximization (ICAIM), which designed to work with supervised data, for discretized process. The algorithm does not require user to predefine the number of intervals. ICAIM improved CAIM by using significant test to determine which interval should be merged to one interval. Our goal is to generate a minimal number of discrete intervals and improve accuracy for classified class. We used iris plant dataset (IRIS) to test this algorithm compare with CAIM algorithm.

  • Consider the problem of estimating a $p{\times}1$ mean vector $\theta(p\geq4)$ under the quadratic loss, based on a sample $X_1$, $X_2$, $\cdots$, $X_n$. We find a Lindley type decision rule which shrinks the usual one toward the mean of observations when the underlying distribution is that of a variance mixture of normals and when the norm $\parallel\;{\theta}-\bar{{\theta}}1\;{\parallel}$ is restricted to a known interval, where $bar{{\theta}}=\frac{1}{p}\;\sum\limits_{i=1}^{p}{\theta}_i$ and 1 is the column vector of ones. In this case, we characterize a minimal complete class within the class of Lindley type decision rules. We also characterize the subclass of Lindley type decision rules that dominate the sample mean.
