Regional specialty products should be representative of the regional characteristics for a long time, this was not done for geographical research. This study examines current the regional specialty products on 12 web-site of the cities counties in 2013 and the products registered on the Tosan(土産) category from old Jiriji(古地理誌) in Chungcheongbuk-do. Futhermore, the study analyzed periodical change and regional distribution characteristics of regional specialty products. Major findings are as Follows. First, current the regional specialty products types are 4 products(crops, marine products, forest products, livestock products) and 3 manufactures (processed food, handicraft, cosmetic products). Among the regional specialty products, various crops and processed food were distributed in all the regions. Second, the traditional products types are 5 products(crops, marine products, forest products, livestock products, mineral products) and 1 manufactures(handicraft) that registered on the old Jiriji in the Joseon Dynasty period. The jujube, ginseng and honey were cultivated in the most regions. Third, the traditional products types are 4 products except for marine products and 1 manufactures(handicraft) that registered on the old Jiriji in the period of Japanese colonial rule. Its total item numbers of the regional specialty products are greatly decreased, but items of handicraft relatively increased in the Danyang and Goesan regions. Finally, regional analyzing of current local items shows that there are only a few regional specialty products(18 items) that have historical traditionality.

This paper is to provide some suggestions to complement and extend theory of network city, and to consider preliminarily its applicability for development of the Yeongnam region, exploring its normative implications for urban and regional policy and its significance of empirical research. In order to resolve some limitations and problems of network city theory and of empirical research, we need to reconsider systematically analysis methods, to extend indices of connectivity, to reconfirm normative characters inherent in network city theory, to suggest the constitution of cooperative governance, and to develop policies for embedding functional connectivity into internal community. In a preliminary analysis of Yeongnam region on the basis of network city theory, it is not clear whether the urban system of the region is entirely a type of network city, even though it seems to be close to network city. However, in order for the Yeongnam region to orient towards network city, we can point out importance of policy issues such as expansion of transportation and communication infrastructure, strengthening of economic connectivity, constitution of cooperative governance, and local embeddedness of functional network within the region.

This paper aims to explore the characteristics of regional network of Korean firms in Dalian City, China, which is focused on social, cultural and institutional characteristics. To achieve this goal, the paper attempts to analyze the supply of raw material and parts, sales and cooperative relations of the firms. Among Korean firms in Dalian City, the characteristic of non-local network can be seen in supply enterprise of raw material, parts and semi products. On the other hand, a tighter local network relationship can be seen in sales. Large companies appear stronger in non-local network than small businesses and small businesses are stronger in local network. In terms of cooperation among enterprises, many firms have networks of joint marketing, joint use of equipments, exchange of techniques and information with the supply enterprise. With the customer enterprise, there is a network in joint marketing and manpower training. Especially, most of the customer enterprises are Chinese ones, which have extensive networks in big cities, such as in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Dalian. In local network, the Korean firms in Dalian cooperate in product development, finance and manpower training with local firms. And in non-local cooperation, Korean firms are active in tech support, information exchange and R&D.
Visibility impairment was known as an indicator of the increased air pollution. In many previous studies, it is known that both directly emitted fine particles mainly from vehicles and secondary aerosols from photochemical reactions could contribute to this visibility impairment in addition to the meteorological condition. Furthermore, the visibility showed different change patterns according to the geographical condition. In order to research into the influence of these factors on visibility, this study analyzed the visibility at 15:00, observed from 1990 to 2001 in Seoul, Ganghwa, Susan, Gwangju, Jeju. As a result, the visibility was increased in Seoul except the rainfall period, but in Susan, Gwangju, Jeju, it decreased with the relative humidity (RH). Especially, in Seoul, the number of low visibility days was larger than other sites and variations of the visibility were sensitive to the concentration of air pollutants, such as TSP, $NO_2$, $O_3$. The visibility impairment was mainly observed in meteorological condition of RH<50% and relatively stationary front. Therefore it is inferred that photochemical smog could lead to the low visibility in Seoul. On the other hands, in Ganghwa and Susan, when RH was 60~70%, the low visibility observed under the influence of the transports of air pollutants from nearby cities as well as humid air mass from coastal region. And in Jeju, sea fog and humid air mass caused the visibility impairment when the RH was larger than 80%. Finally, during the observational period, some cases of low visibility phenomena were simultaneously observed in the vast region including Seoul, Susan, Ganghwa. It not only includes the visibility aggravation by Asian Dust, but also could be caused by the movement and diffusion of flying dust or secondary aerosols. Moreover, the result shows that these phenomena could be mainly influenced by meteorological factors covering the wide regions.
One of the most obvious climatic manifestations of urbanization in Korea is a trend towards higher air temperature. The trends of long-term annual temperature generally well describe the warming of urban areas. The increase of air temperature in urban area has been observed to the present since the meteorological observations in Korea began. The objective of this study is to explore the actual increase and the regional long-term trends of air temperature attributed to urbanization in the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, temperatures of the selected urban areas were compared with that of the surrounding rural areas, with the results varying by the application of the estimates of each region. The second objective is to separate the long-term trend of surface air temperature of global warming from urbanization and to find the actual temperature increase from urbanization in Korean peninsula. For the data analysis, daily air temperatures observed by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) during between from 1961 and 2005 were used at five rural sites and cities. The re-analyzed surface air temperatures by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) was also carried out to compare the result from the observed air temperature in the Korean climate domain. In this study, the urban areas in Korea showed high increase rate of air temperature with $0.4^{\circ}C$ per decade during past 50 year period, while rural sites as Chupungryung with the $0.2^{\circ}C$ decadal increase rate. The analyses reflect that the urban area shows the high rate of temperature increase with $1.39^{\circ}C$ of regression value at the urban area, Seoul, and $0.43^{\circ}C$ at the rural site, Chupungnyeong during the period of 30 years. The temperature increas due to the urbanization only showed the increase range between $0.44^{\circ}C$ and $0.86^{\circ}C$, and the observed decrease in diurnal temperature range at five urban areas during the 30 years period.

This study review of Compositional Evaluation Items for Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) in Korea. The ECVAM is composed of legal assessment and environmental/ecological assessment items. ECVAM basically adapts an overlay method for environmental/ecological assessment items. The objective of this study is to suggest supplementary items for the ECVAM with the following process : Overlapping rates of the assessment items in the ECVAM are calculated to understand the grade distribution of the environmental conservation value assessment and to analyze the overlapping rates among the assessment items, as a result it is found that various items are overlapped each other. In order to reflect effectively each assessment item to the ECVAM, Analyzed the overlapping degree among assessment items to be applied to this map. On the concrete we gripped results to be assessed by various items, which were overlapped each other. In order to reflect effectively each assessment item to the environmental conservation value assessment map of national land, we analyzed the overlapping degree on environmental/ecological items, and investigated the grade distribution by field survey. In this study we assessed the ECVAM by 5 kinds of method. Method 1 is Grade 1 areas of each administrative district, Method 2 is Comparing overlapping areas of each assessment items Grade 1, 2 and Permission of each assessment items' duplication, Method 3 is Grade 1, 2 areas by only singular assessment items, Method 4 is Only Grade 1 areas of Method 2 and Method 5 is Only Grade 2 areas of Method 2. As results, Method 1 showed Seoul and other metropolitan cities reveal a high proportion of Grade I regions by the legal assessment items. Kangwon-Do, show a high proportion of Grade I regions by the environmental/ecological assessment item. Method 2 showed 93.4% of diameter Grade II(standard for stability), forest diameter item was accounted for 99.9% by Method 3, Method 4 showed 95.7% of forest diameter and forest density was accounted for 66.4% by Method 5. From now on, this study will contribute to reduce the complexity in the process of manufacturing ECVAM of National Land, and to raise the pliability in the process of managing and updating this map.

In the GIS construction to land and sea in Korea, GIS construction on land was completed mostly for big cities by NGIS(National Geography Information System) business. However, Marine GIS being constructed by the National Oceanographic Research Institute is still constructing geography information and definition of attribute information and real condition. We have done researches to get maximized ripple effect linking GPS and Navigation techniques on GIS. GPS in accuracy is divided into navigation and precise surveying equipments. Now, GPS technology has been developed very much and with low price GPS equipments are being introduced. But costs on the GPS equipments are high yet. Therefore, the GPS equipments for navigation can be substituted by cheap GPS equipments in a car or ship. In this paper, the authors developed algorithm to convert ellipsoid coordinate between WGS84 and Bessel ellipsoid and to analyze map projection between BESSEL ellipsoid and UTM plane coordinate system. And the author developed ship navigation system with cheap GPS equipments using algorithm of ellipsoid conversion and map projection. The authors proposed the necessity on constructing Internet GIS to manage many ships.

Earth observation satellite imagery having medium-resolution can provide the useful information very rapidly and cheaply. The objective of this study was to assess the feasibility for monitoring rice growth and yield using medium resolution satellite imagery at Seosan AB reclaimed area, Chung-nam province. Using the LANDSAT imagery at booting stage ($29^{th}$ July 2004), $NDVI_R$ had the most significant linear relationships with rice yield of Seosan AB reclaimed area with the correlation coefficient (r) as 0.68. Therefore, this relationship was established as rice yield equation as function of $NDVI_R$, where excluding the 10 small area having low number of pixel, the determination coefficient ($R^2$) of the linear regression between NDVIred and milled rice yield was improved to 0.66. In addition, raster masking method, which was easier and faster even if a little unaccurate than preexisting method, was established for extracting information paddy field zone. Adaptability of rice yield equation function of $NDVI_R$ on year and region was investigated using rice yield and $NDVI_R$ values, which were extracted with raster masking method, from 7 counties or cities, Kyeong-ki province in 2005. Relationship between observed and calculated rice yield showed 1:1 line indicating that the adaptability was admitted.

The Korea Ministry of Environment prepares some paticulate matter eliminate measures for national health protection, as the Paticulate Matter ($PM_{2.5}$) exceeds the standard at more than half of the monitoring posts installed in the nation's big cities. At the center of JeonJu, when measuring the ultrafine particles of inner car at the different driving conditions, at the condition of the Actuator of inner recirculation mode and the Blower of 2-speed, the reduction speed of the ultrafine particles is most fast and the concentration stays low. When the windows are opened during driving, outer pollutants enter the car and also inner paticulate matter flies in all direction, and the increase of passengers causes the scattering of the ultrafine paticles. As the filter for air cleaning, the using of polypropylene non-woven fabric (used commonly now) is most excellent, but for the removal of volatile organic substance as well as the paticulate matter, it is thought that the using of activated carbon fiber filter, carbon adsorbent, is even more excellent.

In order to understand behaviors of heavy metals around the artificial Lake Shihwa in the vicinity of Kyunggi Bay in Korea in relation with huge environmental changes due to construction of huge artificial lake, water samples were collected from Lake Shihwa and its tributaries from 1996 to 1998 and analyzed. Due to extreme pollutant discharge from various kinds of anthropogenic sources such as the Banweol and Shihwa Industrial Complexes and cities, the Shihwa and its tributaries have been polluted in waters with various heavy metals. The enrichment factors of particulate heavy metals in water of streams and storm sewers were very high. All of the heavy metals observed in the waters showed relatively high temporal and spatial variations. In surface waters of the lake during the desalination after the dike establishment, spatial distributions of heavy metal concentrations were mainly controlled by various biogeochemical factors as well as input of industrial and municipal wastewaters, while, physical mixing was minor factor Pb and Co showed a strong affinity to particle phase, however the affinity to dissolved phase was dominated in Ni, Cu and Cd. Water quality of the artificial Lake Shihwa has been deteriorated by direct discharge of untreated wastewater and heavy metals have been accumulated in the lake system. Therefore, luther environmental improvement plan should be programmed subsequently.
