Purpose: This study aims to suggest new strategy of planning water management and land use in response to abnormal weather which allow waterfront to be the cities through the experience of Netherlands resilient project. Method: A planning direction is developed based on Dutch national resilient policy and strategy as well as resilient theory of technical and social aspects, focusing on a new waterfront development that responds to abnormal weather. Results: The water control strategy, for flexibly responding to the sea level rise and flooding caused by the climate change through the experience of Dutch resilience, is as follows: 1)Customized prevention plan according to the local property 2)Creating spatial planning by considering disaster risk level and fragility 3)Establishing urban planning by considering the flood risk level. Conclusion: A new urban development method, particularly a resilience strategy based on the waterfront space where is most vulnerable to climate change, is required to cope with the abnormal climate beyond the conventional planning.
Industrialization and Urbanization caused a great influx of rural population into the cities, which caused housing types to change from detached homes to more apartments homes. The official 2014's Statistics (http://kossir.kr) show that half (49.6%) of the Korean population live in apartment buildings and 37.5% live in detached houses. For this reason, the apartments have become the typical housing in Korea. So, the aim of this study is to compare and analyze the internal apartment space of Budang (New-Town) and Wirye (New-Town), since these Budang apartments are the first new-town housing and Wirye apartments are the last new-town housing in Korea. I have used the Convex Analysis of Space Syntax Program in analyzing the inside space of both of these locations' apartments. The results are as follows : First, the inside space of Wirye apartments have more convex space than that of the Budang apartments. Second, the common inside space of the Budang apartments were planned by integration space, on the other hand the inside space of Wirye apartments were planned by segregation space. Third, the master bedroom in both of the locations' apartments were analyzed for their strong integration space which they may have in common. The K (Kitchen) + D (Dining) space in Budang apartments are classified as integration space, on the other hand L (Living) + K + D space is also classified as integration space. The L+K+D space of the Wirye apartments is classified as integration space. Finally, the inside space of the Wirye apartments were planned more for various spaces than that of Budang apartments. The concept of master bedroom in both new-town was not planed for a couple privacy space but the heart of the family.
The purpose of the thesis is to explore ways of improving the quality of urban life by analyzing the Luzinterruptus's work looking for a new perspective on the relationship between environmental color and society. The street artist Luzinterruptus was born in Spain, is a leader in the field of New Genre Public Art brush on a canvas of light in the night. They should seek the views of other common color system and color environments. The method of research is urban design, we consider the concept of the public good understanding, and New Genre Public Art. It also analyzes the environmental color of Luzinterruptus to take advantage of the phenomenology by David Katz color classification. Many cities in developed countries are showing their unique urban image reflecting their own culture, history, and aesthetic tastes. Especially color, one of the major design elements, has greater impact than other visual factors to form an unique urban characteristic. Despite the long history and cultural background, Seoul as a capital city of Korea does not have been successful to show an unique city image with the perspective of color. As a leading city of design, Seoul is trying to make its own urban identity through the symbolic environmental color, 'Seoul Color'. The purpose of this study is to identify the perception on the Seoul Color established by Seoul City among design practitioners and to suggest strategies for implementing the 'Seoul Color' in various fields of environmental design to set up un unique urban image of Seoul City. For this purpose, questionnaire survey was used and 77 questionnaires were analysed. Although most of the respondents did not know the 'Seoul Color', they recognized the importance of it as a major tool of building an unique urban identity of Seoul City. Respondents recognized the representing color image of Seoul as gray. Therefore, it shows a need for environmental policy to make an eco-friendly and lively city image of Seoul instead of current monotonous image. Also in order to make a unique urban image of Seoul city, 'Seoul Color' should be applied to the shape of landscape of Seoul differently. In addition, many strategies including advertisement, education, making up obvious goals for using the 'Seoul Color', and so on were suggested as conclusion.
The high-rise building is a dramatic phenomenon and a powerful expression of architecture in the modern civilization. The architecture of these high-rise buildings has been developed with mutual contributions of architectural aesthetic form and advanced technologies. Architecturally the significant evolution of tall buildings from ancient towers is a "change of function" from some religious symbols to a commercial concept that has aesthetically become acceptable with the changing of modern society and culture driven by a technological evolution. Generally, this commercial function in the evolution of high-rise building is office where high-rise working style is simply a necessity to meet quantitative market demands since this style in major cities around world has been changed from low-rise to high-rise during the last several decades in influenced of the modern industrial society. To achieve optimum spaces with architectural aesthetics in the high-rise building, the design has become collaborative, requiring the input of architects, engineers, economists, and other consultants. Hence, architects must deeply understand the basic planning theories of high-rise buildings and try to find optimum planning between architectural aesthetics and other issues. For the approach, we can firstly start with measurement and analysis of the planning use situation for major planning issues of high-rise buildings in practice. Therefore, this study is to analysis Design Elements and to find commonly used planning strategies, tectonic, of high-rise building in practice. It will give a chance to confirm commonly used planning and then becomes the starting point of the planning development of high-rise buildings based on practical planning issues.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the CIE standard on lighting environments to Korea. In the field study, horizontal and the vertical illuminance was measured at the pedestrian road in the central business district of a city, and the questionnaires were conducted to get information regarding pedestrian's satisfaction with lighting environment. Four areas were selected for this survey. That areas have different type of pedestrian roads concerning the lighting conditions and the number of walkers. From the results of the measurements, It is known that the illuminance of pedestrian roads is different according to the lighting conditions and the number of poot passengers. Also the results of questionnaires show that the illuminance of the pedestrian roads affect to the pedestrian's satisfaction. Lastly, the CIE standard on lighting environments is applicable to the central business district of the cities in Korea.

Faster, safer and cheaper mailing of the postal matter is essential for surviving in the competitive market of home-delivery service. In the past, the domestic delivery business has been nu by only a few number of companies. But more and more number of companies including medium size ones are participating in the business, and the competition is getting severe. This paper proposes a method to select the optimal location of mail distribution centers that minimally connect the local mail centers of some major cities in Korea using the Steiner Tree theory, which is about connecting a finite number of points with a minimal length of paths and has been used in the distribution system optimization and optimal routing of the transmission lines of the electric power system. By using Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the postal delivery hub, we may expect the reduction of transportation cost and the increase of profit, resulting in acquiring the superior position in the competitive delivery business. It is expected that we may use the Steiner Tree theory in finding the best location of the electric power substation for the nott higher EHV(extreme high voltage) transmission network.

This study is practically focussed on the derivation of the formula of the reach of the catchment of urban community parks and the reached distance to the parks. The hypotheses for the formula are as follows. a. The catchment of urban community parks can be dependent on the quantitative characteristics that urban community parks have substanial factors : the potential residential population of the proximate community to a park, park visitor's day and mean usetime per year. b. The distance to the urban park is a decided variable which can be percieved quantitatively by the researchers among the exogenous variables concerned with the mean usetime of the urban community park. The data for the variables were collected from the statistics, and the surveys for 9 parks of 4cities(Seoul, Chong-ju, Su-Won, Chon-an) in Korea, which were divided into on-site samples and off-site ones in 1991. The data were collected by questionaire surveys. A total of 548 questionaires of off-site surveys were completed by the residents in the enticing area of the parks. A total of 1053 questionaires of on-site surveys were completed by the visitors of the parks. The research could attempt to derive a formula, which was concerned with the reach of the catchment of urban community parks and the reached distance to the parks. It is testified(R2>0.8) that the numbers of mean usetime per year should be related with the reached distance from a visitor's house to a proximate park. The formula is analogized with an exponential function: {{{{ Mean Usetime per year=f(x)=Ae-BK+Ce-DK ear, X is reached distance from a visitor's house to a proximate park. A,B,C and D are parameters. And, the differences of the reach of the catchment of the parks are not only testified with resulting from the differences of the exogenous variables of qualitative characteristics differences of the parks, but also divided separately into spatial ranges. This formula will be able to anticipate the visitor's numbers of a planned urban community park.

The purposes of this study are to analyze the meanings of urban spaces which are the background of the Korean films, and to capture the interactions of ordinary culture and urban spaces. By reading urban spaces through films, it is possible to understand the variety of experiences that are hardly captured with direct eyes, specific and vivid urban images, and various events formed by the interactions of spaces and people. The scope of the study is the urban spaces revealed in Korean films portraying cities after the 1960's as their settings, and the total of 18 films was selected with every $4{\sim}5$ films for each time stage. With the selected films, analytical meanings were developed with considering three aspects; 1) phylogenetic meaning that simply reflects social-cultural and historical background, 2) the outer strum meaning that concerns the situation of special background and film scene, and 3) metaphorical and metanymic meaning on films. According to the appearance frequency, spatial backgrounds of film scenes are mainly alleys, main streets, railroad, loft, and riverside. And then the connection between spaces and meaning clusters was grasped, and reflected meanings were derived for every spaces. And the meaning of urban space in films was analyzed based on the meaning of developments and outer stratum. The fundamental characteristics and feelings of people in media such as films are more emphasized than in real world. Urban space is not considered as a simple visible shell, but is recognized as 'a real situation' created by people. The intension of this study was to open the possibility of the various views of urban spaces. The construction of the urban space should be approached from a perspective of creating new places at where the space and human beings interact with considerations of stories of various human lives. I hope new vistas can be opened up for the research subjects and methodologies about the hereafter study of urban spaces through the mutual communications with various adjacent regions including films.
The purpose of this study is to find out how to improve tourism competitiveness of cruise harbours in Korea by analyzing tourism satisfaction level of international cruise visitors to Korea, who are increasing rapidly as Northeast Asian cruise tourism market is growing up. In this study we analyzed the factors of effects on tourism satisfaction level by Chinese visitors, Japanese visitors and English speaking visitors respectively based on the results of "International Cruise Visitor Survey 2012". The results of this study show that the individual satisfaction level of port of calling & tour schedule, immigration procedures, transportation, shopping influenced overall tourism satisfaction level by countries. It implied that those attributes should be reflected hereafter when we establish a marketing strategy for each of cruise cities. This study has a great significance in that those results suggest useful information when we make plans not only for activating cruise harbours but also for cruise tour marketing.
