  • The purpose of this study is to investigate existing world economic science theories and concepts of sustainable development as well as create original system of criteria and indicators to assess potential and conditions for sustainable development from a regional perspective and based on the above justify proposals for public authorities to improve methods of economic regulation for regional development. To achieve the goal evolution process of existing theories and concepts of sustainable development and "green growth" have been studied in terms of its adaptation to the spatial development of Kazakhstan, comparative dynamics of natural resources consumption in the Asia-Pacific region and Kazakhstan were investigated as well. Methodology. World best theory and practice methods for assessment of the level of sustainable development of the country and some of its territories were also studied. We selected the best system of criteria and indicators for assessment of economic, social and environmental sustainability of regional systems. Methods offered in this article are based on traditional and new factors of economic development and conditions for operation of regional systems. Indicators are chosen with a glance to basic goals for future development of regions in Kazakhstan. It is recommended to use two levels of methodology offered by author, namely national and regional, and at the local level later (districts, municipalities, cities). The results. Method offered by the author has been tested based on materials and statistics of regions in Kazakhstan. Suitability and usability of the proposed system of criteria and indicators for measuring of economic, social and environmental sustainability of regional systems was proved. Based on this analysis it was found out that there are regions in Kazakhstan that differ from each other by most of key indicators of sustainable regional development and this tendency is increasing. Conclusions and recommendations. As a result of this analysis, the authors have substantiated a number of proposals on methods of analysis to be used, improvement of methods of regional development, implementation of institutional reforms, as well as improvement of regional statistics. • With more than 70% of the country consisting of mountains, Korea has large and small mountains, and hills located in the inner cities. Therefore, Korea's architectural structure laws stipulate that an increase in wind speed due to the influence of terrain should be considered in the design of wind loads of buildings. But if more than two mountains are located around the building or if the boundaries of the land surface are not clear when calculating topographic factors of wind speed, the designer has subjectively selected the coverage of the topographic factors of wind speed or the surface. This may lead to unscientific design of wind loads. This study attempts to analyze topographic factors of wind speed by using a 1:5000 topographic map with relatively high location accuracy and thereby to reflect changes due to the topographic characteristics and influence at the point where the building is located. By also selecting terrain surfaces and vertexes through Arc GIS and presenting a scientific approach to determine the range of topographic factors of wind speed, this study is expected to make a contribution for more rational and cost-effective wind-resistant design of buildings.

  • This empirical study researched the three major phenomena of differentiation of housing market under the large scale of new town construction in the metropolitan area, the spatial differentiation pattern of housing market due to the urban growth, and the relationship with the distribution of housing submarket and suburbanization. Yongin City, one of the most active growth cities among the metropolitan areas, is optimal place to investigate the spatial differentiation pattern of the housing submarket on the microscopic scale. Furthermore, Yongin City has not only the geographical benefit but also the strong influences from institutional, social, and environmental changes. This city is divided into four housing submarkets, where to Gangnam and Boondang, Gyeongbu and Youngdong expressway has significant effects. In addition, the housing tenure and size, household structure, educational background and income levels and so on also resulted in the differentiation of the housing submarket.

  • The purpose of this research is to estimate a safe environmental level of human exposure to thresholding-acting toxicants in drinking water and recommend the acceptable levels and management plans for maintaining good quality of drinking water' and protecting health hazard. This research has been funded as a national project for three years from 1992 to 1995. This study(the second year, 1993-1994) was conducted to monitor 39 species of noncarcinogenic chemicals such as volatile organic compounds(VOCs), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbens(PAHs), pesticides and heavy metals of drinking water at some area in six cities of Korea, and evaluate health risk due to these chemicals through four main steps (hazard identification, exposure assessment, dose-response assessment and risk characterization) of risk assessment in drinking water. In hazard identification, 39 species of non-carcinogenic chemicals were identified by the US EPA classification system. In the step of exposure assessment, sampling of tap water from the public water supply system had been conducted from 1993 to 1994, and 39 chemicals were analyzed. Inclose-response assessment for non-carcinogens, reference doses(RfD) and lifetime health advisories(HAs) of lifetime acceptable levels were calculated. In risk characterization of detected chemicals, the hazard quotients of noncarcinogens were less than one except those of manganese and iron in D city.

  • The objective of this paper is to investigate the effect of character traits of employees of consulting firm on job satisfaction through self-leadership and self-efficacy. The proposed model is based on big5 model of Coasta and McCrae(1992). To validate the proposed model, structural equation model is analyzed with the valid 140 questionnaires collected from Seoul and nearby cities by using Smart PLS 3.0. The results are as follows. First, extraversion has a positive effect on self-leadership, not on self-efficacy. Second, agreeableness has a positive effect on self-leadership, not on self-efficacy. Third, conscientiousness has a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Fourth, emotional stability does not have a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Fifth, openness to experience has a positive effect on both self-leadership and self-efficacy. Sixth, self-leadership has a positive effect on self-efficacy. Seventh, self-leadership has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Last, self-efficacy has a positive effect on job satisfaction. This research proves that, while the character of employees generally forms the meaningful relationship with self-leadership and self-efficacy, in some entries of Big 5 character elements it has still produced the different results with the previous researches, which betrays that the relationship between one's character and self-leadership and self-efficacy can differ according to the characteristic of jobs. It requires further study to prove how each of Big 5 elements differently effects on self-leadership and self-efficacy according to diverse characteristic of jobs.
