Experimental and Computational Study on the Mold Shrinkage of PPS Resin in Injection Molded Specimen

  • In this study, molding shrinkage of PPS resin was investigated. Two types of PPS resins with differing glass fiber and calcium carbonate content were used for this purpose. To observe mold shrinkage, molding conditions based on injection temperature, injection speed, and the position of the cushion were selected. Circular and rectangular specimens were used for the study model. Injection molding simulation was performed to predict the filling pattern and mold shrinkage, and the simulation results were compared with the experimental conclusions. It was observed that the mold shrinkage showed the highest shrinkage (distributed from 0.05% to 0.32%) dependence on the injection temperature, and the lowest shrinkage (distributed from 0.05% to 0.31%) dependence on the injection speed. The role of the position of the cushion in mold shrinkage was difficult to observe. The results of the simulation mostly agreed with the experimental results; however, for some molding conditions, the mold shrinkage in the simulation was overestimated as compared to that in the experiment.

당근 유식물체에서 자엽수와 유관속계의 관련성 (Relationship between cotyledon Number and Vascular System in Carrot Seedling)

  • Carrot seedling emgryos showing variations in cotyledon number were selected and anatomical comparisons of the embryo vascular systems were performed between the variants and normal two cotyledonary (5) embryos from 800 seedings germinated . Externally, all of the four and six cotyledonary embryos had two cotyledonary petioles. Each of the cotyledonary petioles divided into two or three on the upper part fo the petiole which result in four and six cotyledons, respectively. However, the embryos had three different cotyledonary petioles in the three cotyledonary embryos. On the basis of the pattern of vascular system, the four and six cotyledonary embryos had the same basic vascular system as fnormal two cotyledonary embryos, Therefore the cotyledon number abnormality could result from the branching split of the abnormally thickened upper part of the cotyledonary petiole. However, the three cotyledonaryembryos had a different vascular system from the normla two cotyledonary embryos. They could be regarded as different varieties form the two cotyledon embryos. All embryos observed had short cylindrical plumule sheath which formed by the fusion of the cotyledon bases. The presence of plumule sheath strontgly implied that the initiation of the cotyledons was not from the two localized primordia but from the circular proimordiu formed at the blobular stageof embryo, and it is not consistent with current views of cotyledon initiation. On the formation of the primary vascular system of carrot seedlings, it is suggested that the primary vascular system of the plumule was formed independently from that of the root-hypocotyle-cotyledon system.

Single-Feed, Wideband, Circularly Polarized, Crossed Bowtie Dipole Antenna for Global Navigation Satellite Systems

  • A wideband circularly polarized (CP) antenna with a single feed is proposed for use in global navigation satellite systems. Its primary radiation elements are composed of two orthogonal bowtie dipoles, which are equipped with double-printed vacant-quarter rings to allow direct matching of the antenna to a single $50-{\Omega}$ coaxial line and to produce CP radiation. The crossed bowtie dipole is appropriately incorporated with a planar metallic reflector to produce the desired unidirectional radiation pattern as well as to achieve a wideband characteristic in terms of impedance matching and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths. The designed antenna was fabricated and measured. The prototype antenna with an overall 1.2-GHz frequency size of $0.48{\lambda}_o{\times}0.48{\lambda}_o{\times}0.25{\lambda}_o$ produced a measured ${\mid}S_{11}{\mid}$<-10 dB bandwidth of 1.05-1.79 GHz and a measured 3-dB AR bandwidth of 1.12-1.64 GHz. It also showed right-hand CP radiation with a small gain variation (${\pm}0.3dB$) and high radiation efficiency (>93%) over the operational bandwidth.

  • The response surface method is the statistical method which can be applied to the non-sensitivity based optimization. The response surface which is constructed by the least square method contains only the polynomial terms so that the global maximum and minimum points are easily obtained. In this paper, this response surface method is utilized to optimize the crashworthiness of auto-body members. As the first step, the thickness of a simple circular tube is optimized to confirm the application of the response surface method to the crashworthiness. Optimization of the thickness on the front side member is, then, performed with the constructed response surface of the absorbed energy and deformation. Optimization results demonstrate that the absorbed energy and the deformation pattern of the front side member is improved in the viewpoint of enhancement of the crashworthiness.

8×8 위상배열안테나를 이용한 위치추적 시스템 (Localization of Human Motion Using a 8×8 Phased Array Antenna)

  • In this paper, a Doppler radar for a localization of a human motion is demonstrated. In the system, we used a $8{\times}8$ phased array antenna using metamaterial phase shifters for easy and precise control of antenna beam pattern. Scanning area is a circular sector with an inscribed angle of $60^{\circ}$ and a diameter of 45m. This area is divided with 15 designated area and each area is scanned for 0.2 second. When there is a motion in a designated area, we are able to detect a frequency shift due to a Doppler effect. In this way it is possible to detect the location of motion. The experiment shows that 78% of position accuracy. The remaining 22% occurred the surroundings of the designated area.

피드백이 없는 유체진동기에서 분사되는 Sweeping jet의 유동 특성 (Flow Characteristics of Sweeping Jet Issued by a Feedback-free Fluidic Oscillator)

  • This paper presents flow characteristics of a sweeping jet issued by a feedback-free fluidic oscillator. Overall flow characteristics of feedback-free sweeping jet (FFSJ) were analyzed using flow visualization. The feedback-free sweeping jet has a sinusoidal external flow pattern. The oscillating frequency of the FFSJ is three times higher than that of a conventional sweeping jet at the same Reynolds number. Flow structure and turbulence characteristics were investigated using time-resolved particle image velocimetry (TR-PIV). In instantaneous velocity fields, the flow did not stay at ends but changed the direction continuously in contrast to the conventional sweeping jet. Velocity distributions at each plane which were extracted from mean velocity field has Gaussian distribution, which is similar with a circular jet. The sweep angles were constant as 45° at all Reynolds numbers in the high flow rate regime.

원형 패턴 기반의 OTP 인증 시스템 (An OTP Authorization System Based on Circular Pattern)

  • 기존의 OTP(One-Time Password) 인증 시스템은 OTP 단말을 휴대해야하는 불편함이 있으며 생성한 OTP 값을 그대로 OTP 단말에 출력하기 때문에 주변에 쉽게 노출될 수 있다. 또한, 기존의 9자리 패턴 인식 방법은 같은 패턴 지점을 연속으로 인식시킬 수 없고 패턴을 그리는 경로에 다른 패턴 지점이 포함될 수 있다는 한계가 있어 제한적인 패턴 결과를 가진다. 따라서, 본 논문은 원형 배치된 패턴 지점 기반의 OTP 대칭 값 패턴 인증 시스템을 통해 OTP 단말을 휴대할 필요가 없게 하고, OTP의 각 자리 값을 대칭 값으로 표현함으로써 OTP 값의 노출을 막는다. 또한 모든 OTP 값으로 패턴 인식이 가능하도록 하기 위해 패턴 지점을 원형 배치하는 방법을 제안한다. 이는 직접적으로 OTP 값이 노출될 가능성을 감소시키고, OTP 인증을 위한 패턴 인식에서 패턴 지점을 원형 배치함으로써 모든 OTP 값이 패턴으로 변환될 수 있도록 한다. 본 논문은 패턴 지점의 원형 배치와 대칭 값을 이용한 OTP 인증 시스템을 제안하여 새로운 OTP 인증 방법으로 패턴 인식을 적용할 수 있도록 한다.

부도체층 제작조건에 따른 강자성 터널접합의 투과자기저항 특성 연구 (Tunneling magnetoresistance in ferromagnetic tunnel junctions with conditions of insulating barrier preparation)

  • The Spin-dependent tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) effect was observed in $NiFe/Al_2O_3$/Co thin films. The samples were prepared by magnetron sputtering in a system with a base pressure of $3\times10^{-6}$Torr. the insulating $Al_2O_3$layer was prepared by r.f. plasma oxydation method of a metallic Al layer. The ferromagnetic and insulating layers were deposited through metallic masks to produce the cross pattern form. The junction has an active area of $0.3\times0.3\textrm{mm}^2$ and the $Al_2O_3$layer is deposited through a circular mask with a diameter of 1mm. It is very important that insulating layer is formed very thinly and uniformly in tunneling junction. The ferromagnetic layer was fabricated in optimum conditions and the surface of that was very flat, which was observed by AFM. Tunneling junction was confirmed through nonlinear I-V curve. $NiFe/Al_2O_3$/Co junction was observed for magnetization behavior and magnetoresistance property and magnetoresistance property is dependent on magnetization behavior and magnetoresistance property and magnetoresistance property is dependent on magnetization behavior of t재 ferromagnetic layer. The maximum magnetoresistance ratio was about 6.5%.

위상배열 응용을 위한 스마트 스킨 안테나 설계 및 제작 (Design and fabrication of Smart Skin Antenna for Phased Array Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 위상배열로 응용할 수 있는 스마트 스킨 안테나에 대한 기본 설계와 제작에 대해 소개하였다. 스마트 스킨 위상배열 안테나는 기계적 회전 없이 전기적으로 안테나 방사패턴을 조향 제어할 수 있는 안테나로서, 강도 및 중량 등의 기계적 특성이 우수한 허니콤 샌드위치 구조를 이용하여 전기적, 기계적 특성을 모두 만족하도록 설계되어야 한다. 본 논문에서 제시한 스마트 스킨 안테나는 공진 주파수 5 GHz 원형편파의 $2{\times}2$ 부배열이며, 동축 케이블에 의한 프루브 급전방식으로 설계하였다. 그리고, 전자기 수치해석을 통하여 레이돔이 있는 경우와 없는 경우에 대해 비교 분석하였다. 이와 같이 설계된 안테나를 제작하여 안테나 성능시험을 하였으며, 그 결과 이득은 12.2 dBi, 주파수 대역폭은 6.4 %의 양호한 성능을 확인하였다.

Functional annotation of uncharacterized proteins from Fusobacterium nucleatum: identification of virulence factors

  • Fusobacterium nucleatum is a gram-negative bacteria associated with diverse infections like appendicitis and colorectal cancer. It mainly attacks the epithelial cells in the oral cavity and throat of the infected individual. It has a single circular genome of 2.7 Mb. Many proteins in F. nucleatum genome are listed as "Uncharacterized." Annotation of these proteins is crucial for obtaining new facts about the pathogen and deciphering the gene regulation, functions, and pathways along with discovery of novel target proteins. In the light of new genomic information, an armoury of bioinformatic tools were used for predicting the physicochemical parameters, domain and motif search, pattern search, and localization of the uncharacterized proteins. The programs such as receiver operating characteristics determine the efficacy of the databases that have been employed for prediction of different parameters at 83.6%. Functions were successfully assigned to 46 uncharacterized proteins which included enzymes, transporter proteins, membrane proteins, binding proteins, etc. Apart from the function prediction, the proteins were also subjected to string analysis to reveal the interacting partners. The annotated proteins were also put through homology-based structure prediction and modeling using Swiss PDB and Phyre2 servers. Two probable virulent factors were also identified which could be investigated further for potential drug-related studies. The assigning of functions to uncharacterized proteins has shown that some of these proteins are important for cell survival inside the host and can act as effective drug targets.
