  • In this paper, the power of the energy harvesting circuit using the PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) piezoelectric sensor transformed by vortex was analyzed. For power analysis, a general bridge diode rectifier circuit and a P-SSHI (Parallel Synchronized Switch Harvesting on Inductor) rectifier circuit with a switching circuit were used. The P-SSHI circuit is a circuit that incorporates a parallel synchronous switch circuit at the input of a general rectifier circuit to improve energy conversion efficiency. In this paper, the output power of general rectifier circuit and P-SSHI rectifier circuit is analyzed and verified through theory and experiment. It was confirmed that the efficiency was increased by 69 % through the experiment using the wind. In addition, a circuit for storing the harvested energy in the supercapacitor was implemented to confirm its applicability as a secondary battery.

  • Power converter design requires simulation accuracy. In addition to the requirement of accurate models of power semiconductor devices, this paper highlights the role of considering a very good description of the converter circuit layout for an accurate simulation of its electrical behavior. This paper considers a simple experimental circuit including one switching cell where a MOSFET transistor controls the diode under test. The turn-off transients of the diode are captured, over which the circuit wiring has a major influence. This paper investigates the necessity for accurate modeling of the experimental test circuit wiring and the MOSFET transistor. It shows that a simple wiring inductance as the circuit wiring representation is insufficient. An adequate model and identification of the model parameters are then discussed. Results are validated through experimental and simulation results.

  • Hybrid cascade multilevel PWM inverter has advantages of hybrid structure which enhances the better utilization of power semiconductor switches, that is, both hi호 power-low frequency switch, GTO and low power-high frequency switch, IGBT can be used in the same circuit. In this paper, a static var compensator using hybrid cascade 5-level PWM inverter is presented for high voltage/high power applications. The proposed system is modelled by circuit DQ transformation, and thus an equivalent circuit is obtained which reveals the important characteristics of the system and lead to the related equations. Finally, circuit structure and characteristics is presented and the validity of the characteristics analysis is shown through PSIM simulation.

  • A PDP(Plasma Display Panel) module consists of a discharge panel, a SMPS(Switched Mode Power Supply) for power supply, driving boards for panel control, and a logic board. Driving boards supply high voltage pulses to induce glow discharge in the PDP panel. The electrical pulses excite the circuit elements and subsequently generate acoustic noises. The main sources of the noise in the circuit are the transformer of SMPS and the power MOSFET(Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) of driving boards, and the heat sinks often amplify the noise level. The reduction of the acoustic noises was achieved by modifying both the structural and circuit elements. The structural method was executed by the improvement of heat sinks. The optimization of SMPS and condensers was carried out for the circuit elements.

  • In this paper, An efficient circuit design algorithm considering constraint is proposed. The proposed algorithm sets up in time constraint and area constraint, power consumption constraint for a circuit implementation. First, scheduling process for time constraint. Select the FU(Function Unit) which is satisfied with time constraint among the high level synthesis results. Analyze area and power consumption of selected FUs. Constraint set for area and power constraint. Device selection to see to setting condition. Optimization circuit implementation in selected device. The proposed algorithm compared with [7] and [8] algorithm. Therefore the proposed algorithm is proved an efficient algorithm for optimization circuit implementation.

  • This paper examines RF-to-DC conversion efficiency of rectifying circuit for wireless power transmission. The rectifying circuit consists of low pass filter, diode circuits and dc pass filter. All these components may be effect on the conversion efficiency. Using the simulation, we study these components how to effect on the conversion efficiency. On the basis of the simulation results, the 912MHz rectifying circuit with 50% efficiency at low input power such as 0dBm is fabricated and its characteristics are measured.

  • In this paper, a multiple coupling inductor with expandable-integrated magnetic structure was proposed to enable miniaturization of external switched mode power supply (SMPS) for a large display. Inductance formula of the proposed inductor structure was derived through magnetic circuit analysis for a simple inductance designing process. The proposed inductor was applied into a 1kW class interleaved bridgeless power factor correction circuit which requires four inductors, and experimental steady state result of the circuit was compared. According to the experimental result, it was found that the proposed multiple coupling inductor shows the electrical characteristics that can replace the conventional separated inductors and is suitable for miniaturization of the SMPS since the circuit configuration is possible with one shared inductor.

  • PTB(Power Transfer Breaker) is a device which incorporate the functions of ACB(Air Circuit Breaker) and ATS(Automatic Transfer Switch). ACB is a circuit breaker against overload and ATS is a switching device to transfer the load between two electric power sources. An existing PTB design based upon the 5 bar & cam mechanism has been regarded to be too complex and thus a simpler 4 bar mechanism with trigger lock is proposed. Experimentation and optimization of the trigger lock is presented.

  • Chua's circuit is a simple electronic network which exhibits a variety of bifurcation and attractors. The circuit consists of two capacitors, an inductor, a linear resistor, and a nonlinear resistor. In this paper, a transmitter and a receiver using two identical Chua's circuits are proposed and synchronizations of a power line are investigated. Since the synchronization of the power line system is impossible by coupled synchronization, theory having both the drive-response and the coupled synchronization is proposed. As a result, the chaos synchronization has delay characteristics in the power line transmission system caused by the line parameters L and C.
