A new probing mechanism and an active compliance control algorithm have been developed for the in-circuit test of a PCB( printed circuit board ). Commercially available robotic probing devices are incapable of controlling contact force generated through rigid probe contacts with a solder joint, at high speed. The uncontrollable excessive contact force often brungs about some defects on the surface of the solder joint, which is plastically deformable over some limited contact force. This force also makes unstable contact motions resulting in unreliable test data. To overcome these problems, we propose that a serially connected macro and micro device with active compliance provide the best potential for a safe and reliable in-circuit test. This paper describes the design characteristics, modeling and control scheme of the newly proposed device. The experimental results clearly show the effectiveness of the proposed system.

An analysis method of slot-coupled microstripline to waveguide transition is presented to developed a simple but accurate equivalent circuit model. The equivalent circuit consists of an ideal transformer, microstrip open stub, and admittance elements looking into a waveguide and a half space of feed side from a slot center. The related circuit element values are calculated by applying the reciprocity theorem, the Fourier transform and series representation, the complex power concept, and the spectral-domain immittance approach. The computed scattering parameters are compared with the measured, and good agreement validates the simplicity and accuracy of the proposed equivalent circuit model.
Conventional cantilevered piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEHs) are usually fabricated with continuous electrode configuration (CEC), which suffers from the electrical cancellation at higher vibration modes. Though previous research pointed out that the segmented electrode configuration (SEC) can address this issue, a comprehensive evaluation of the PEH with SEC has yet been reported. With the consideration of delivering power to a common load, the AC outputs from all segmented electrode pairs should be rectified to DC outputs separately. In such case, theoretical formulation for power estimation becomes challenging. This paper proposes a method based on equivalent circuit model (ECM) and circuit simulation to evaluate the performance of the PEH with SEC. First, the parameters of the multi-mode ECM are identified from theoretical analysis. The ECM is then established in SPICE software and validated by the theoretical model and finite element method (FEM) with resistive loads. Subsequently, the optimal performances with SEC and CEC are compared considering the practical DC interface circuit. A comprehensive evaluation of the advantageous performance with SEC is provided for the first time. The results demonstrate the feasibility of using SEC as a simple and effective means to improve the performance of a cantilevered PEH at a higher mode.
In this paper, an estimation method is presented to determine the equivalent circuit model of an underwater acoustic piezoelectric transducer with multiple resonant modes. A fitness function that includes the coupled resonant effects is proposed to minimize an error between the measured impedance of the transducer and the calculated impedance of the equivalent model. Unknown parameters of the equivalent circuit are estimated by using PSO algorithm. The proposed method is applied to an example transducer of the sandwich type with 3 resonances in the frequency band of interest. The analytical impedance of the estimated equivalent circuit model is compared with the measured impedance of the transducer and the validity of proposed method is verified.
In this paper, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is applied for modeling and simulation of DC characteristic of cylindrical Silicon Nanowire Transistor (SNWT). Device Geometry parameters, terminal voltages, temperature and output current were selected as the main factors of modeling. The results obtained are compared with numerical method and a good match has been observed between them, which represent accuracy of model. Finally, we imported the ANFIS model as a voltage controlled current source in a circuit simulator like HSPICE and simulated a SNWT inverter and common-source amplifier by this model.

A new HBT current source model and the corresponding direct parameter extraction methods are presented. Exact analytical expressions for the current source model parameters are derived. This method is applied to scalable modeling of HBT, Some techniques to reduce redundancy of the parameters are introduced. The model based on this method can accurately predict the measured data for the change of ambient temperature, size, and bias.

To design a limiting MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) mechanism, a dynamic modeling of the mechanism in which the electro-magnetic force effects are incorporated needs to be developed. Conventionally, electro-magnetic effects were considered separately for the design of the mechanism. In this paper, an electro-magnetic force that is induced by limited current is identified and included in the dynamic modeling of the mechanism. Thus, the electro-magnetic which is defined as a external force and the mechanical effects are simultaneously considered for the design of the mechanism which is composed of contactor, spring , link, latch and so on.

A novel state of health estimation method for hybrid electric vehicle lithium battery using sliding mode observer has been presented. A simple R-C circuit method has been used for the lithium battery modeling for the reduced calculation time and system resources due to the simple matrix operations. The modeling errors of simple model are compensated by the sliding mode observer. The design methodology for state of health estimation using dual sliding mode observer has been presented in step by step. The structure of the proposed system is simple and easy to implement, but it shows robust control property against modeling errors and temperature variations. The convergence of proposed observer system has been proved by the Lyapunov inequality equation and the performance of system has been verified by the sequence of urban dynamometer driving schedule test. The test results show the proposed observer system has superior tracking performance with reduced calculation time under the real driving environments.
A heat dissipation modeling method of EEE parts is developed for thermal design and analysis of an satellite electronic equipment. The power consumption measurement value of each functional breadboard is used for the heat dissipation modeling method. For the purpose of conduction heat transfer modeling of EEE parts, surface heat model using very thin ignorable thermal plates is developed instead of conventional lumped capacity nodes. The thermal plates are projected to the printed circuit board and can be modeled and modified easily by numerically preprocessing programs according to design changes. These modeling methods are applied to the thermal design and analysis of CTU and verified by thermal cycling and vacuum tests.

This paper proposes a new modeling method for estimating the impedance of an on-chip power/ground meshed plane. Frequency dependent R, L, and C parameters are extracted based on the proposed method so that the model can be applied from DC to high frequencies. The meshed plane model is composed of two parts: coplanar multi strip (CMS) and conductor-backed CMS. The conformal mapping technique and the scaled conductivity concept are used for accurate modeling of the CMS. The developed microstrip approach is applied to model the conductor-backed CMS. The proposed modeling method has been successfully verified by comparing the impedance of RLC circuit based on extracted parameters and the simulated impedance using a 3D-field solver.
