동충하초(Cordyceps Militaris)가 고콜레스테롤혈증 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Cordyceps Militaris on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed Cholesterol Diet)

  • The effects of Cordyceps militaris on the weight gain, the food intake, the food efficient ratio, and the lipid concentrations of serum, liver, pancreas, heart and aorta in male rats fed cholesterol diet were studied. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were received 4 types of diets for 4 weeks, respectively : a normal diet(without cholesterol), a control diet(hypercholesterolemic diet), a hypercholesterolemic diet supplemented with 3% fruiting body of Cordyceps militaris(CF), a hypercholesterolemic diet supplemented with 3% mycelium of Cordyceps militaris(CM). The body weight gain of rats fed the control diet were significantly increased compared to those of the rats fed diets with CF or CM. But, the hepatic and pancreatic weights of rats fed diets with CF or CM were heavier than those of rats fed the normal diet. In serum of rats fed the CM diet, the concentrations of total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-cholesterol and the atherogenic index were significantly lower than those of rats fed the control diet. Also, serum HDL-cholesterol concentration and HDL-cholesterol/total cholesterol ratio were significantly lower in rats fed the control, CF or CM diets than those in rats fed the normal diet. Whereas, the hepatic concentrations of the total lipid, the total cholesterol and the triglyceride were significantly higher in rats fed 3 hypercholesterolemic diets than those in the rats fed normal diet. The heart and pancreatic concentrations of total cholesterol were the highest in the rats fed diet with the CR among rats fed experimental diets. In conclusion, the CM feeding decreased the concentrations of the cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL-cholesterol and the atherogenic index in the serum of the rats. But the CF or CM feeding could not decrease the hepatic concentrations of the total lipid, cholesterol, triglyceride in the rats fed hypercholesterolemic diets.   • Gender differences in the effects of gonadectomy and high cholesterol diet on body weight and body cholesterol were investigated by using Sprague Dawley rats. Body weight, plasma and liver levels of cholesterol and triglyceride and platelet aggregation were examined in ovariectomized(OVX) or orchidectomized(ODX) rats with their intacts after feeding diet with or without 0.5% cholesterol. Body weight was significantly increased(p < 0.01) in OVX rats and significantly decreased(p < 0.01) in ODX rats compared to their respective intact rats, and cholesterol diet significantly(p < 0.05) decreased body weight in gonadectomized rats. Liver lobes from rats fed cholesterol diet were opaque and larger than those from rats find control dict, resulting in a significant increase(p < 0.01) in LW/BW ratio. Plasma and liver levels of total cholesterol were significantly increased (p < 0.01) in female rats regardless ovariectomy when find 0.5% cholesterol diet, but those levels in male rats were increased only when they were orchidectomized(p < 0.0l). Plasma HDL-cholesterol was significantly decreased(p < 0.05) in both sexes when find cholesterol diet. HDL-cholesterol were higher in female than male rats regardless treatments(p < 0.05). Liver triglyceride was significantly increased(p < 0.05) in both sexes when find cholesterol dict. Plasma level of triglyceride was not different among groups except significant decrease(p < 0.05) in cholesterol find ODX rats. Maximum platelet aggregation in female rats was significantly lower(p < 0.05) than male, but ovariectomy and cholesterol diet caused an increase te the level of male rats. Microscopic examination showed cholesterol diet caused a lipid accumulation in liver. Results indicate that intact female rats have higher response to hypercholestcrolemic diet than intact male rats and orchidectomy causes male rats more responsive to hypercholesterolemic diet. However, ovariectomy causes an increase female food efficiency ratio to the level of male rats, significantly increasing body weight.

랫트에 있어서 우유의 콜레스테롤 저하효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hypocholesterolemic Effect of Milk in Rats)

  • The benefits of milk on the rats supplemented with cholesterol and vitamin D2 in diet was investigated. A total of 150 male rats of Sprague-Dawley strain, 5 weeks of age, were divided into 6 groups with the diet. Cholesterol control group was fed the diet containing 1.0% choleterol and 50,000 IU/100 g of vitamin D2 for 24 months, and M0.5, M1, M2 and M5 of milk groups were fed the diet containing cholesterol, vitamin D2 and 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 of reference daily intakes of whole milk, respectively. No remarkable differences of growth, diet intake, and food effciency ratio among groups were observed though rats in cholesterol control group showed abrupt decrease of diet intake and body weight showed slightly higher relative organ weights than did the rats in control group. The rats in cholesterol control group showed the highest serum total cholesterol level. The rats in milk groups showed lower total cholesterol level and higher high density lipoprotein (HDL)-cholesterol fraction than did the rats in cholesterol control group though no tendency was observed among milk groups. In milk groups, aorta, heart, kidney and liver of rats showed milder calcification and necrosis or fat degeneration compared with those in cholesterol control group. The above results suggest that whole milk could have beneficial effect on the cholesterol-and -vitamin D2-induced atherosclerosis in rats.

랫드에서 식물성스테롤 유도체(LPSS)의 혈중 콜레스테롤 저하효과에 관한 연구 (Serum Cholesterol Lowering Effects of the Phytosterol Derivative (LPSS) in Rats)

  • The present study was designed to investigate the serum cholesterol lowering effect oj the phytosterol derivative (LPSS) on high cholesterol (HC) diet-induced hypercholesterolemia in male weaning Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. Rats were fed with HC diet containing 1 % cholesterol and 0.5% cholic acid for 1 week. After 1 week, the LPSS oil suspension (0.32 g/kg B. W.) was orally administered to the rats fed with either basal diet or HC diet groups for 7 days. In addition, the LPSS powder (0.14%) mixed with basal diet or HC diet was Jed to the rats for 7 days. Serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol contents were not altered by administration of the LPSS oil suspension with basal diet. However, they were significantly decreased by administration of the LPSS oil suspension with HC diet at day 14. Also, they were significantly decreased by the LPSS powder mixed with basal diet or HC diet at day 9, 11, 14. HDL-cholesterol contents were not altered by the LPSS oil suspension or LPSS powder. These results indicated that the phytosterol derivative(LPSS) might decrease serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol contents in rats.

고콜레스테롤 식이 랫드에서 천마혼합액의 혈액개선 효과 (Effect of Mixture of Gastrodiae rhizoma on Blood Amelioration in High Cholesterol-diet Rats)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of mixture of Gastrodiae rhizoma (GM) on blood amelioration in high cholesterol-diet rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly assigned to one normal diet and three high cholesterol-diet groups which contained 1 % (w/w) cholesterol diet. The groups of high cholesterol-diet were classified to control (high cholesterol-diet only), GM-1 (high cholesterol-diet and GM) and ST-1 (high cholesterol-diet and Statin drug). The body and organs weight were not significantly changed among the tested groups. Contents of serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol were significantly increased in cholesterol-diet groups compared with normal diet group but significantly decreased in the group of GM-1. Morphology of red blood cell in GM-1 group was similar to normal diet group but the control group had many crystals of cholesterol. Hepatic xanthine oxidase activity in the rats of high cholesterol-diet was decreased up to the levels of normal diet group according to oral administration of GM. The results of the present study demonstrate that the orally injection of GM can ameliorate the status of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, and repress xanthine oxidase in liver in high cholesterol-diet rats. These finding suggest that GM is expected to be an effective tea for the blood amelioration in high cholesterol-diet rats.

신령버섯 균사체 액체배양액이 고콜레스테롤혈증 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Liquid Culture of Agaricus blazei Murill on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed Cholesterol Diet.)

  • 신령버섯 균사체 액체배양액이 고콜레스테롤 식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자, 생후 7주령의 숫쥐에 표준식이를 급여한 정상군, 표준식이에 15% 돈지와 0.5% 콜레스테롤을 첨가한 식이를 급여한 대조군, 대조식이에 신령버섯 균사체 액체배양액을 음료수에 30% 및 40%로 혼합 급여한 군(30% 및 40% 신령버섯군) 등 4군으로 나누어 6주간 사육한 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험동물의 체중 증가량, 식이섭취량 및 식이효율은 대조군과 30%와 40% 신령버섯군이 유사하였다. 간, 신장 및 부고환지방의 무게는 대조군과 신령버섯군들이 비슷하였다 간의 콜레스테롤 농도, 간과 혈청의 중성지질 농도는 대조군과 신령버섯군들이 비슷한 수준으로 감소효과가 나타나지 않았다. 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동맥경화지수는 대조군에 비해 30% 및 40% 신령버섯군이 유의하게 감소되었다. 총콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율은 대조군에 비해 신령버섯군들이 유의하게 증가되었다. HDL-콜레스테롤 농도는 대조군과 신령 버섯군들이 비슷한 수준으로 신령 버섯섭취에 따른 영향은 나타나지 않았다. 분으로 배설된 지방은 대조군에 비해 40% 신령버섯군이 유의하게 증가되었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 고콜레스테롤 식이를 급여한 흰쥐에 신령버섯 균사체 액체배양액을 30%나 40% 급여시 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동맥경화지수를 낮추고, 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of taurine on plasma and liver lipids, erythrocyte ouabain sensitive Na efflux and platelet aggregation in Sprague Dawley rats

  • The effects of taurine on plasma and liver cholesterol, erythrocyte ouabain sensitive Na efflux and platelet aggregation were examined in Sprague Dawley rats fed control or 0.5% cholesterol with 0.2% cholate diet. Plasma and liver levels of total cholesterol were increased significantly (p<0.05) in rats fed cholesterol diet compared to the control, and taurine significantly decreased the elevated plasma level of cholesterol in rats fed cholesterol diet (p<0.05). HDL-cholesterol was decreased in groups fed the cholesterol diet regardless of taurine supplementation and the difference between groups with and without cholesterol was significant (p<0.01). Plasma triglyceride was decreased and liver triglyceride was increased both significantly (p<0.05) in rats fed cholesterol compared to the control. Plasma and liver triglyceride in rats fed taurine was decreased significantly compared to the control (p<0.05). Intracellular Na tended to be lower in rats fed cholesterol or taurine and higher in rats fed cholesterol plus taurine compared to the control. Na efflux through Na-K ATPase and the passive leak of Na was somewhat reduced in rats fed cholesterol or taurine and was augmented in rats fed cholesterol plus taurine compared to the control, which showed a similar trend to the intracellular Na. Taurine supplementation caused a suppression of Na efflux in groups fed control diet and restored the suppressed Na efflux in groups fed cholesterol. Platelet aggregation was significantly decreased in the group fed taurine compared to the control (p<0.05) and the group fed cholesterol plus taurine was also a little lower in aggregation than the group fed cholesterol. Microscopic examination showed that taurine prevented fatty liver in rats fed cholesterol diet. Taurine known for stimulating Na-K ATPase in some cell types rather decreased erythrocyte ouabain sensitive Na-K ATPase in the present study. Taurine had hypolipidemic and hypocholesterolemic effects and inhibited platelet aggregation which may be favorable for prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

  • 신령버섯이 고지방식이를 섭취한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자, 생후 21주링의 音쥐 에 표준식이를 급여한 정상군, 표준식이에 20% 돈지를 첨가한 식이를 급여한 고지방군, 고지방 식이에 신령버섯 자실체 분말을 3% 및 5%씩 첨가한 식이를 급여한 군(3% 및 5% 신령 버섯군) 등 4군으로 나누어 10주간 사육한 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험동물의 체중증가량 및 식이효율은 고지방군에 비해 3% 신령버섯군이 다소 감소되었으나, 5% 신령버섯군은 유의하게 감소되었다. 간과 신장의 무게는 고지방군과 신령버섯군들이 비슷하였으나, 부고환지방은 고지방군에 비해 신령버섯군들이 유의하게 감소되었다. 간의 콜레스데롤 농도는 고지방군과 신령버섯군들이 비슷한 수준으로 감소효과가 나타나지 않았다. 혈청 및 간의 중성지질 농도는 고지방군에 비해 5% 신령버섯군이 유의하게 감소되었다. 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤과 LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동맥경화지수는 고지방군에 비해 3% 및 5% 신령버섯군이 유의하게 감소되었다. 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율은 고지방군에 비해 신령버섯군들이 유의하게 증가되었다. HDL-콜레스테롤 및 인지질 농도는 고지방군과 신령버섯군들이 비슷한 수준으로 신령버섯 섭취에 따른 영향은 나타나지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 보아 고지방식이를 급여한 흰쥐에 신령버섯을 5% 급여시 혈청과 간의 중성지질 농도, 혈청의 총 콜레스테롤, LDL-콜레스테롤 농도 및 동백경화지수를 낮추고, 총 콜레스테롤에 대한 HDL-콜레스테롤의 비율을 증가시키는 것으로 나타났다.

녹차가루 식이가 당뇨쥐의 혈당 및 혈중 지질 농도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Green Tea Powder Supplementation on Blood Glucose and Lipid Concentrations in Rats with Streptozotocin-induced Diabetes)

  • The study examined the effects of dietary green tea powder supplementation on blood glucose, and plasma and liver lipid concentrations in diabetic rats. Twenty-five male Sprague-Dawley rats (body weight $200{\pm}5\;g$) were divided into two groups (diabetic and non-diabetic), which were each randomly divided into two subgroups that were fed a control and 1% green tea powder-supplemented diet. Serum and liver lipid concentrations were measured by established techniques. Low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) was calculated from an established equation. Body weight gain and feed efficiency ratio were lower in diabetic rats than in non-diabetic rats regardless of diet. There were no differences in weight gain in diabetic and non-diabetic rats consuming the control and green tea powder-supplemented diets. The levels of fasting plasma glucose, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-C and atherogenic index of diabetic rats were significantly higher than that of non-diabetic rats. Conversely, the levels of high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) of diabetic rats was significantly lower than that of non-diabetic rats. Fasting plasma glucose, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL-C and atherogenic index were significantly lower in diabetic rats fed the green tea powder diet than in rats fed the control diet, and HDL-C was significantly higher in rats fed the green tea powder diet than in rats fed the control diet. The content of liver total cholesterol and triglyceride of diabetic rats were significantly higher than that of non-diabetic rats. Liver total cholesterol and triglyceride were significantly lower in diabetic rats fed green tea powder-supplemented diet than in rats fed the control diet. It is concluded that green tea powder supplementation positively influences blood glucose and lipid metabolism in diabetic rats. The present study, although not directly applicable to humans, may have some implications for individuals who habitually consume green tea powder.
