This study analyzed changes in postpartum depression in mothers from one month after childbirth to the first year using panel data collected overtime, in an effort to determine the relationship between the amount of change and child-rearing system variables. The subjects were 1097 mothers who belonged to both the lower and upper $30^{th}$ percentile groups in the depression change distribution of the 2008 Korean Children Panel Study (PSKC), a large, population-based study conducted by the Korea Institute of Childcare and Education. The data were analyzed by t-tests, $x^2$ tests, partial correlation coefficient analyses and regression analyses. The results are summarized as follows: First, the mothers' postpartum depression showed a significant increase during the first year as opposed to the first month after birth. Second, after controlling for socio-demographical variables of the mothers, the changes related to depression showed a positive relationship with child-rearing stress, and the child's emotional temperament, but showed a negative relationship with the mother's self-esteem, the child's birth order, and the father's participation in child-rearing activities. Third, variables having a significant effect on changes in postpartum depression were the mother's self-esteem and child-rearing stress, the child's age in months, and social support. Variables pertaining to the mother's characteristics variables had a more powerful effect than other child-rearing system variable categories. The results suggest the necessity to develop a parental education program or a mother-child health service in consideration of the variables that affect mothers, as determined in this study, in an effort to prevent postpartum depression.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the satisfaction and improvement points of the current health checkup in infants and children, and recognition of parents about introduction of health examinations for infants and children by Korean medicine. Methods We conducted an online survey through the website of Dongguk University Bundang Korean medicine hospital for the parent of infants and children between 4 and 71 months age who received at least one health checkup. Statistical processing was performed using the SPSS Version 23.0 program. Results As a result of correlation analysis between the degree of necessary improvement point of current health checkup for infants and children and the degree of strength of health examinations for infants and children by Korean medicine, there was a statistically significant positive correlation (r=0.957). With the participation of Korean medical doctors, it can be expected that the number of health examinations centers for infants and children will be expanded, screening services will be increased, and oriental medicine childcare and education to prevention of major pediatrics disease can be provided. Conclusions These results show that health examinations for infants and children by Korean medicine can increase the satisfaction of the parent and the inspection rate.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore socio-demographic factors, personality factors, socio-psychological factors, and relationship factors related to happiness of young children's fathers. Method: Subjects of this study were fathers who had 3, 4 and 5 years old children attending childcare centers. Data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 program. Results: First, father's subjective well-being was predicted by father's extraversion of personality, job satisfaction, satisfaction of economic status, marital intimacy, and relationship with child. Marital intimacy was the strongest predictor of father's subjective well-being. Second, father's global life satisfaction was associated with occupational status, family monthly income, father's extraversion of personality, satisfaction of economic status, marital intimacy, and relationship with child. Father's global life satisfaction was explained by satisfaction of economic status the most. Third, father's meaning of life was related to father's educational level, father's extraversion of personality, job satisfaction, satisfaction of economic status, marital intimacy, and relationship with child. Father's meaning of life was explained by relationship with child the most. Fourth, father's positive emotion was predicted by father's extraversion of personality, job satisfaction, satisfaction of economic status, marital intimacy, and relationship with child. Extraversion of personality was the strongest predictor for father's positive emotion. Fifth, neuroticism of personality and marital intimacy were related to father's negative emotion, and neuroticism of personality was the strongest predictor for father's negative emotion. Conclusions: The findings of this research provide the fundamental source for increasing father's happiness which can be used to establish the educational programs, counseling, and policy on general public's happiness.

Introduced in 2004 as an 'After-School Academy' policy, the 'After-School Care Class' has become a universal program for elementary schools over time. While the concept of public education service has expanded and changed in various ways including educational welfare, the physical environment of the care classroom has undergone fixed changes within the uniform classroom structure of a standardized school space. The purpose of this study is to identify spatial characteristics of care classroom through chasing and analysing changes in the care class space configuration from 2004 to the present. The findings are as follows. The plan of the early care classroom wasn't much different from the existing common classroom, and it was only in 2007 that the kitchen and floor heating appeared for the first time. From the 2015 standard plan, prominent differentiation of the space between learning activities and resting area was shown, but the spatial characteristics are nothing more than a division that utilizes ready-made furniture. A distinctive feature of the 2018 Seoul care classes are diversity. In the case of the care exclusive classrooms, the division between the support space and the main activity space became more clear using furniture integrated open walls and various floor levels. In the case of a shift classrooms that is used together with common classrooms, it is characterized by flexibility that allows dramatically different classroom configurations for each time period by using a convertible furnishing space.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation experiences of the 「2019 revised Nuri curriculum」 of early childhood education teachers and special education teachers at inclusive child care and education centers. Methods: Individual interviews with 14 teachers at seven inclusive settings in Seoul were conducted. The collected data were transcribed, and six categories and 42 sub-themes in early childhood education teachers and six categories and 37 sub-themes in special education teachers were derived through qualitative-comparative content analysis. Results: The teacher in-service education conducted prior to the implementation of the 「2019 revised Nuri curriculum」 gave substantial aid in the applied practices of cases. The perceptions of teachers related to the 「2019 revised Nuri curriculum」 were heightened. The inclusive settings had been changed according to the principles of play, case, and children's interest. As the 「2019 revised Nuri curriculum」 progressed, children also changed. The implementation of the 「2019 revised Nuri program」 allowed the positive and the negative experiences to coexist at the inclusive settings. For the successful implementation of the 「2019 revised Nuri curriculum」 , calls for the improvement of the child care and education center and national level must be stressed. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the results, discussions and recommendations were presented to solve the difficulties.
The purpose of this study was to examine parents' perceptions towards, and the importance and performance levels of, foodservices in child-care centers and to suggest ways to increase foodservice quality and promote efficient operations in the future. A questionnaire survey was provided to 540 parents and the return rates 82%. The survey period was from June 20 to July 27,2007. The collected data were statistically analyzed with the SAS package program using descriptive statistical analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple comparisons, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows: The parents perceived that foodservice operations promoted their children's health and helped them form desirable dietary habits. The parents also had a high level of perception toward the need for foodservice, earning greater than 4.5 points out of 5 points. Their perceptions of foodservice quality were examined by four dimensions of importance and performance levels. While the parents gave 4 points or greater of 5 points to most quality attributes of importance level, they gave 4 points of less out of 5 points to most quality attributes of performance level. As for the importance and performance levels of the quality dimensions of meal service, the parents regarded sanitation as the most important dimension. IPA showed that 'organic food materials' was included as a 'focus here' area. The overall satisfaction level for foodservice was 3.59 out of 5 points. A higher level of satisfaction was shown when a dietitian was present as well as in public childcare centers. According to multiple regression analysis, 53.51% of the variance in the respondents' overall satisfaction scores was explained by factors such as food, sanitation, environment, and foodservice effects.
Background: This study investigated the awareness and utilization of maternity protection and work-family balance support policies among dental hygienists in dental hospitals and clinics. Methods: We surveyed 200 dental hygienists. Twenty-two who did not meet the inclusion criteria were excluded, leaving 178 participants for analysis. The self-administered 48-item questionnaire gathered information on demographics, workplace details, policy awareness, government knowledge, and suggestions for improvement. Results: Awareness of maternity and family support programs significantly differed with age, marital status, number of children, and clinical experience. Dental hygienists in general hospitals and university hospitals reported greater ease of utilizing these policies compared to those in dental clinics. Among the participants, 27.7% took pre- and post-maternity leave, 26.6% took parental leave, 16.9% had reduced working hours during pregnancy, 15.8% had reduced working hours during childhood, and 8.5% during family leave. To promote program uptake, participants suggested mandatory implementation across workplaces (68.4%), expanded support for substitute workers (48.6%), and increased education and promotion of government support (42.4%). Conclusion: While most dental hygienists were aware of the Maternity Protection and Work-Family Balance Assistance Policy, utilizing it proved challenging due to several factors. Organizational policies or practices may not fully implement this policy, while workplace culture could discourage its use. Unfair treatment and the lack of available substitutes further hindered access. To prevent career interruptions for dental hygienists due to pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, and family care, and to maintain career continuity, the dental community and government should establish a multifaceted social support system. This system should prioritize several key areas: strengthening policy promotion, fostering a family-friendly atmosphere, improving management and supervision of policy implementation and developing a robust support system for substitute personnel.

Due to the positive effect of forest space for child development, the creation and operation of forest activity space of various organizations is increasing in quantity; however, the research on practical space design and management program is insufficient. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the space and management programs of the forest experience centers through the post-occupancy evaluation of teachers and preschoolers participating in forest activities. To do this, we analyzed the selected twelve sites through field survey, class observation, and interviews with forest education specialists, and then surveyed 115 forest education experts and childcare teachers for importance, performance, overall satisfaction, and space preference. In addition, we accessed overall satisfaction and space preference of twenty-nine preschoolers through interviews, photo-simulation, and questionnaires. As a result, the importance and performance of management program area was rated higher than the spatial characteristics area. In terms of group comparison, the group with active structured program rated two areas higher than the groups with free play. Preschoolers with structured programs preferred facility space, but preschoolers with free play preferred nature. Two preschooler groups rated forest activity as satisfactory. Based on the analysis results: 1) The composition of the forest activity space should ensure accessibility, safety, diversity of diversity, water space, connect to the forest road, and secure various terrains, trees, and natural materials; 2) The management program should ensure that forest activity programs have the proportional balance of structural programs and free play; also. management programs should plan for sufficient free playtime and a high share of play in the forest; and 3) Ensure the role and expertise of forestry specialists and run a program to increase the autonomy of preschoolers.
