  • The new approach for synthesis of novel condensation monomers and polyimides on the basis of them was developed. The correlation between synthesis regularities, structure and properties of monomers and polyimides was studied. The areas of industrial application of synthesized polymer were determined.

  • Physical and chemical properties of thexylboronic acid and its derivatives such as thexylboroxine and ethylene glycol or diethanolamine thexylboronic ester have been studied. Thexylboronic acid can be extracted from an organic solution with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution as an “te”complex. It is readily converted into thexylboroxine in the presence of anhydrous magnesium sulfate in pentane. It reacts with simple alcohols only slowly; however, it reacts readily with excess diethanolamine in the presence of anhydrous magnesium sulfate to give the corresponding ester.

  • The problem of production of new materials based on polyheteroarylenes and other polymers combining good mechanical and dielectric properties. radiation and chemical stability with heat- and thermal stability is related with the development of efficient synthesis technique of starting low-molecular compounds. Alicyclic dianhydrides are believed to be the promising monomers to synthesize various polymers.

  • For utilization of Bunker-C residual oil produced at KOCO., the auther tested the properties of vacuum fraction and blown asphalt, and as the result of it, (1) Vacuum fraction had so broad range of viscosity and high flash point that could be produced all kind of lublicating oil, but had to be dewaxed for high pour point, (2) Urea dewaxing was suitable to lighter fraction but not to heavier fraction, so, for heavier fraction, solvent dewaxing was needed. (3) Blown asphalt produced from vacuum residue had uniform relation between softening point and penetration in spite of broad change of blowing condition and adding of catalyst.
