  • SENT (single edge nibble transmission) is a serial communication protocol between automotive sensors and ECU (electronic control unit). SENT exploits digital waveform, so it has a simple and cheap architecture without transceiver circuits. Usually it is exploited as an embedded communication interface in the sensors. In this paper, a SENT interface was designed in Verilog HDL, fully complying with SAE J2716. It was implemented in FPGA, and verified on a test board. When it was synthesized, the gate count is about 2,500 gates in 0.18um technology.

  • The newly developed speed sensorless control scheme is proposed to estimate both motor speed and rotor resistance simultaneously using variable rotor flux. The rotor flux is given as sinusoidal waveform with an amplitude and a frequency without affecting precise torque control. Especially the proposed method makes the simultaneous estimation of rotor resistance and speed with high precision even though at the low speed area including a few rpm. Moreover, on-line identification of rotor resistance can be performed simply without calculating troublesome trigonometric functions and complicated integral computation. Therefore, the proposed system can be accomplished by using very cheap microprocessors for several applications. The results of the numerical simulations and experiments demonstrate that this method is effective to estimate the speed and on-line identification of rotor resistance for sensorless induction motors.

  • The controller area network(CAN) was originally developed to support cheap and rather simple automative applications, However, because of the its performance and low cost, it is also being considered in automated manufacturing and process control environments to interconnect intelligent devices, such as modem sensors and actuators. This paper presents a new application technology of the developed CAN control modules for the automated doors in building automation system. Key pad and RF methods are used to open and close the automated door by the slave CAN module with CAN protocol. BAS application technology of CAN field bus modules is also presented firstly in our nation.

  • If used to drive the minicar, the BLDC Motor has advantages of weightless, efficient, small-size and credibleness. In this paper at first the position detecting method for BLDC was introduced, secondly the simulation of control algorithm was done and at last the prototype controller based one chip processor MEGA48 was fabricated. The controller proposed has characteristic of cheap cost, reliable performance and totally meeting demands of minicar control.

  • Scent diffuser using micro-pore piezo actuator achieved a commercial success because of its cheap production cost, but it is easy to be use for IT-based contents due to difficulty of scent intensity control. To solve this problem, we control the emission amount of scent diffuser by changing amplitude and frequency of input voltage applied to micro-pore piezo actuator. And, we analyzed the effect of density of cotton core on emission amount and a relationship between hole-size of mesh in piezo actuator and viscosity of scents to design a mechanically optimal scent device.

  • The effect of puffing treatments on the sensory qualities improving of Ginseng Extract were investigated in the good products for rejecting soil flavor as Ginseng foreign bad taste, through chemical analysis and actual manufacturing practice, the following results were obtained. Puffing treated<15kg / ㎠psi> ginseng has produced a marked increase in soluble solid, crude saponin yield to the extent of 10% and without soil taste as compared with control Ginseng. Optimum Ginseng ethanol extraction condition were 90$\^{C}$ for 8 hours, which was cheap operating cost and color, apperance, total solid yield of Ginseng extracted products. For 70% ethanol extraction in temperature range of 60∼90$\^{C}$ for 8 hours, the higher temperature resulted higher yields in solids and Ginsenoside Especially, GinsenosideRgl as most effective physiological function component yield was increased in 18% by puffed Ginseng than control Cinseng products. The Hunter's color, L. a and b values of Ginseng extract were 31.09, 21.9 and 49.5 and increase brown and red color value and total Δ Evalue.

  • Stereochemical control of the Wittig reaction of the primary aldehyde, 8-acetoxyoctan-1-al (7) with the nonstabilized alkylide, triphenylphosphonium n-butylide (6), was achieved by controlling the reaction conditions including solvent, temperature and inorganic salts. These conditions can be applied to the direct sythesis of the mixture of (Z)-, and (E)-8-dodecen-1-yl acetate, the sex pheromone of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholitha molesta. The primary aldehyde, 8-acetoxyoctan-1-al (7) was synthesized from 1,8-octanediol which is cheap and readily available.

  • Flowmeter and oxygen sensors are listed in COVID-19 essential medical devices. This article reports a Teensy microcontroller-based Oxygen mass flow controller (MFC), core part of the oxygen respirator or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The developed MFC consisting of the microcontroller, MEMS flow sensor, and solenoid valve was able to accurately control 0 to 100 sccm of oxygen flow rate. The pressure of vacuum chamber increased proportionally to the flow rate (0.998 of Pearson correlation coefficient). The experimental results proved that the developed MFC exhibits comparable performance to a commercial MFC in accuracy, settling time, linearity with pressure, and repeatability of oxygen mass flow control. It is expected that this simple and cheap MFC is utilized for oxygen therapy against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2.

  • An analytical method was developed for hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stabilizers based on QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) sample preparation and liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry analysis. HIF stabilizers potentially enhance the performance of athletes, and hence, they have been prohibited. However, the analysis of urinary HIF stabilizers is not easy owing to their unique structure and characteristics. Hence, we developed the QuEChERS preparation technique for a complementary method and optimized the pH, volume of extraction solvent, and number of extractions. We found that double extraction with 1% of formic acid in acetonitrile provided the highest recovery of HIF stabilizers. Moreover, the composition of the mobile phase was also optimized for better separation of molidustat and IOX4. The developed method was validated in terms of its precision, detection limit, matrix effect, and recovery for ISO accreditation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of the application of the QuEChERS method, which is suitable as a complementary analytical method, in antidoping.

  • Induction motors are relatively cheap and rugged machines. For the vector control of induction motors, a position or speed sensor is needed. But a speed sensor increases motor cost and reduces reliability in harsh environment. Recently, many studies have been performed for sensorless speed control. This paper investigates an improved flux observer with the parameter error compensation for a sensorless induction motor. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.
