Full Wave Cockroft Walton Application for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

  • A high-voltage power supply has been built for activation of the brain via stimulation using a Full Wave Cockroft-Walton Circuit (FWCW). A resonant half-bridge inverter was applied (with half plus/half minus DC voltage) through a bidirectional power transistor to a magnetic stimulation device with the capability of producing a variety of pulse forms. The energy obtained from the previous stage runs the transformer and FW-CW, and the current pulse coming from the pulse-forming circuit is transmitted to a stimulation coil device. In addition, the residual energy in each circuit will again generate stimulation pulses through the transformer. In particular, the bidirectional device modifies the control mode of the stimulation coil to which the current that exceeds the rated current is applied, consequently controlling the output voltage as a constant current mode. Since a serial resonant half-bridge has less switching loss and is able to reduce parasitic capacitance, a device, which can simultaneously change the charging voltage of the energy-storage condenser and the pulse repetition rate, could be implemented. Image processing of the brain activity was implemented using a graphical user interface (GUI) through a data mining technique (data mining) after measuring the vital signs separated from the frequencies of EEG and ECG spectra obtained from the pulse stimulation using a 90S8535 chip (AMTEL Corporation).

  • 본 논문에서는 배터리 관리 기능을 갖는 빛 에너지 하베스팅 충전기 회로를 제안하였다. 제안된 회로는 MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking)를 통해 빛 에너지를 솔라 셀로부터 수확하고, 수확한 에너지를 외부 배터리 커패시터에 연결하여 충전한다. 배터리 관리회로(Battery Management)의 신호에 따라, 배터리 커패시터의 충전 상태를 조절한다. 제안된 회로는 0.35um CMOS 공정으로 설계하였으며, 모의실험을 통해 동작을 검증하였다. 설계된 회로의 최대효율은 84.8%이며, 칩 면적은 패드를 포함하여 $1350um{\times}1200um$이다.

  • Using power semiconductor switches such as IGBTs diodes and L-C circuits novel repetitive impulse voltage generator is developed. In the presented circuits high voltage pulse is generated by series-connection of capacitors and IGBTs. The charging of capacitors and voltage balance of IGBTs is done automatically. To verify the proposed circuit 20kV, 300A pulse generator is manufactured and tested.

  • In this paper the operation of a N2 laser using corona-preionization and capacitor transfer type excitation circuit is discussed. The laser tube is 24 cm in length and the distance between the electrodes is 1.5 cm. The charging voltage was kept constant 10 KV. This laser can be operated with a range of repetition rate 1 $\sim$ 30 Hz.

  • A computer simulation code of UV preionized discharge KrF laser is developed, including time dependent circuit equations, boltzmann equations, and plasma kinetic equations for various atomic and molecular species. Rate constants for electron collision processes are calculated with a boltzmann equations as a function of E/N. In this study, we studied mainly the $KrF^*$ formation process, relaxation process, and the 248nm absorption process as a function of charging voltage.

  • Proposed battery charger is a economic candidate because that is simple and small size. The circuit has linearly operational power stage. That use small size buffer with small driving current and large power MOS gate capacitance. The simulation result show that charging current is stable and has low ripple.

  • A laser pulse generator which consists of charging resistor, energy storage capacitor laser diode, and switching elements was designed in order to generate 15ns, 20W laser pulses. And the effects of performances of SCR and FET as switching elements are compared. When SCR is used, the SCR's low maximum voltage makes the circuit so complicated, and when FET is used, the FET needs the special sate driver which improves the FET's operation.

  • This paper introduces an improved pulse generator using power semiconductors. The proposed circuit consists of the series connected boost converter structure. In the presented circuits, high voltage pulse is generated by series-connection of capacitors and IGBTs. The charging of capacitors and voltage balance of IGBTs is done automatically. To verify the proposed circuit, 1kV, 25A pulse generator is manufactured and tested.

  • It is usual to operate the long transmission line with transposition of each phase in order to avoid voltage unbalance due to unbalanced capacitances at each phase of the line end. This paper described the Ferranti voltage rise of line end, charging current and secondary arc current according to the transposition of line or not. The positive and negative sequence current was derived by the phase current, and then the unbalanced rate was calculated. Then, we obtained the reclosing dead time of the single phase reclosing scheme for 500 kV single circuit horizontal arrangement transmission line system.
