Specific capacitance and charge-discharge rate of EDLC using activated carbon electrode were affected by the compositions of electrolytes, the conditions of charge-discharge and physical properties of activated carbon materials. The activated carbon electrode was prepared by dip coating method. Charge-discharge test and electrochemical experiments were carried out for various kinds of organic electrolytes. Effects of charge and discharge current density on the specific capacitance were studied. Characteristics of leakage current, self-discharge and time-voltage curves in optimum conditions of organic electrolytes were compared with conventional $1M-Et_4NBF_4/PC$ electrolyte. The EDLC using MSP-20(specific surface area: $2000m^2/g$) electrode and $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was exhibited th highest specific capacitance of 130F/g and low polarization resistances. The EDLC using MSP-20 electrode at $1M-LiPF_6/PC-DEC(1:1)$ was small leak current of 0.0004A for 15min, long voltage retention of 0.8V after 100h and linear time-voltage curves with small IR-drop.
This research presents the battery discharge rate models for the energy consumption of mobile phone batteries based on machine learning by taking into account three usage patterns of the phone: the standby state, video playing, and web browsing. We present the experimental design methodology for collecting data, preprocessing, model construction, and parameter selections. The data is collected based on the HTC One X hardware platform. We considered various setting factors, such as Bluetooth, brightness, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Sync. The battery levels for each possible state vector were measured, and then we constructed the battery prediction model using different regression functions based on the collected data. The accuracy of the constructed models using the multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and the support vector machine (SVM) were compared using varying kernel functions. Various parameters for MLP and SVM were considered. The measurement of prediction efficiency was done by the mean absolute error (MAE) and the root mean squared error (RMSE). The experiments showed that the MLP with linear regression performs well overall, while the SVM with the polynomial kernel function based on the linear regression gives a low MAE and RMSE. As a result, we were able to demonstrate how to apply the derived model to predict the remaining battery charge.

[ $Li[Co_{0.50}Li_{0.17}Mn_{0.33}]O_2$ ] powder was prepared using a simple combustion method. specially, ratio of 2:1, 3:2, 1:1, 2:3, 1:2 was adopted as acetate source/nitrate source. The diffraction pattern of $Li[Co_{0.50}Li_{0.17}Mn_{0.33}]O_2$ powder showed that this compound could be classified as hexagonal $a-NaFeO_2$ structure (space group : $R\bar{3}m$). The size of powder was less than $1{\mu}m$. Small particle size of cathode powder would give a good ionic and electronic conductivity to cathode electrode, which made of cathode powder. As the increase of nitrate source-ratio, discharge capacity of $Li[Co_{0.50}Li_{0.17}Mn_{0.33}]O_2$ at high charge-discharge rate was increased. When the ratio of acetate source/nitrate source was 1:2, discharge capacity at 10 C rate (2000 mA/g) was 180 mAh/g. It was $10{\sim}15%$ larger than that of powder, which have 2:1 as acetate source/nitrate ratio.
Electrochemical properties of $LiMn_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}PO_4$ cathode were investigated with gel polymer electrolyte (GPE). To access fast and efficient transport of ions and electrons during the charge/discharge process, a pure and well-crystallized $LiMn_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}PO_4$ cathode material was directly synthesized via spray-pyrolysis method. For high operation voltage, polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based gel polymer electrolyte was then prepared by electrospinning process. The gel polymer electrolyte showed high ionic conductivity of $2.9{\times}10^{-3}S\;cm^{-1}$ at $25^{\circ}C$ and good electrochemical stability. $Li/GEP/LiMn_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}PO_4$ cell delivered a discharge capacity of $159mAh\;g^{-1}$ at 0.1 C rate that was close to the theoretical value ($170mAh\;g^{-1}$). The cell allows stable cycle performance (99.3% capacity retention) with discharge capacity of $133.5mAh\;g^{-1}$ for over 300 cycles at 1 C rate and exhibits high rate-capability. PAN-based gel polymer is a suitable electrolyte for application in $LiMn_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}PO_4/Li$ batteries with perspective in high energy density and safety.

The multi-component olivine cathode material, $LiMn_{1/3}Fe_{1/3}Co_{1/3}PO_4$, was prepared via a novel coprecipitation method of the mixed transition metal oxalate, $Mn_{1/3}Fe_{1/3}Co_{1/3}(C_2O_4){\cdot}2H_2O$. The stoichiometric ratio and distribution of transition metals in the oxalate, therefore, in the olivine product, was affected sensitively by the environments in the coprecipitation process, while they are the important factors in determining the electrochemical property of electrode materials with multiple transition metals. The effect of the pH, atmosphere, temperature, and aging time was investigated thoroughly with respect to the atomic ratio of transition metals, phase purity, and morphology of the mixed transition metal oxalate. The electrochemical activity of each transition metal in the olivine synthesized through this method clearly was enhanced as indicated in the cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge measurement. Three distinctive contributions from Mn, Fe, and Co redox couples were detected reversibly in multiple charge and discharge processes. The first discharge capacity at the C/5 rate was $140.5\;mAh\;g^{-1}$ with good cycle retention. The rate capability test showed that the high capacity still is retained even at the 4C and 6C rates with 102 and $81\;mAh\;g^{-1}$, respectively.

β-AgVO3 nanorods have been successfully synthesized using a soft chemistry route followed by heat treatment. They were characterized by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy, and their electrochemical properties were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectra, and charge-discharge tests. The results showed that the smooth-surfaced nanorods are very uniform and well dispersed, with diameters of ~100-200 nm and lengths of the order of several macrometers. The nanorods deliver a maximum specific discharge capacity of 275 mAh g-1 at 30 mA g-1. They also demonstrated good rate capability with a discharge capacity at the 100th cycle of 51 mAh g-1.
The role of the electron diffusion on the stability of a Townsend discharge was investigated with the linear stability theory for the one-dimensional fluid equation with drift-diffusion approximation. It was proved that the discovered instability occurs as a result of the coupled action of electron diffusion and the perturbed electric field by space charge. The larger electron diffusion results in the faster growth rate at the regime of small perturbation of the electric field by space charges.
