Study on the Fuel Vapor Distribution of the Stratified Charge in a DISI Engine by PLIF Technique (직분식 전기점화 엔진에서 PLIF기법에 의한 성층 혼합기의 분포특성 연구)

  • The spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge of a high pressure 6-hole injector was examined in a single cylinder optical direct injection spark ignition(DISI) engine. The effects of in-cylinder charge motion, and fuel injection pressure, and coolant temperature were investigated using a planar LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder tumble flow played more effective role in the spatial fuel distribution of the stratified charge than the swirl flow during the compression stroke and the fuel distribution area increased due to the activation of the fuel vaporization by the increase of the coolant temperature. But, the increase of the fuel supplying pressure could not change the pattern of the fuel vapor distribution against the expectation.

  • The spatial fuel vapor distribution of the homogeneous charge by a 6-hole injector was examined in a optically accessed single cylinder direct injection spark ignition(DISI) engine. The effects of in-cylinder charge motion, and fuel injection pressure, and coolant temperature were investigated using a planar LIF (Laser Induced Fluorescence) technique. It was confirmed that the in-cylinder tumble flow played a little more effective role in the spatial fuel vapor distribution than the swirl flow during the compression stroke at 10 mm and 2 mm planes under cylinder head gasket and the increased fuel injection pressure activated spatial distributions of the fuel vapor. In additions, richer mixtures were concentrated around the cylinder wall by the increase of the coolant temperature.

  • A Unified model for the alpha-particle-induced charge collection has been developed. By accounting for funneling and diffusion charges separately, new model accurately describes the dependence of collected charge on junction size, junction bias, injection energy, injection angle, injection point, and trench oxide depth.

  • In this work, in-cylinder pressure measurements and high-speed direct imaging of the flame were performed in an optically accessible single cylinder diesel engine with premixed charge compression ignition combustion and a narrow injection angle. The results show that the frequency ranges of pressure ringing were 8.35 to 9 kHz and 12..2 to 13.1 kHz. The frequencies of the flame movement were shown as 8.7 kHz and 13 kHz. It was found that there is a direct relationship between the pressure ringing and the flame movement.

  • Oxide substrates in semiconductor-sensitized solar cells (SSSCs) have a great impact on their performance. $TiO_2$ has long been utilized as an oxide substrate, and other alternatives such as ZnO and $SnO_2$ have also been explored due to their superior physical properties over $TiO_2$. In the development of high-performance SSSCs, it is of significant importance to understand the effect of oxides on the electron injection and charge recombination as these two are major factors in dictating solar cell performance. In addition, elucidating the relationship between these two critical processes and solar cell performance in each oxide is critical in building up the basic foundation of SSSCs. In this study, ultrafast pump-probe laser spectroscopy and open-circuit decay analysis were conducted to examine the characteristics of three representative oxides ($TiO_2$, ZnO, and $SnO_2$) in terms of electron injection kinetics and charge recombination, and the implication of results is discussed.

  • Due to their better photosensitivity in X-ray, the amorphous selenium based photoreceptor is widely used on the X-ray conversion materials. It was possible to control the charge carrier transport of amorphous selenium by suitably alloying a-Se with other elements(e.g. As, Cl). The charge transport properties of amorphous Selenium is decided on hole which is induced from metal to selenium in metal-selenium junction and which is transferred in a-Se bulk. This phenomenon is resulted of changing electric field owing to increasing of space charge by deep trap of a-Se bulk. In this paper, We dopped the chlorine to compensate deep hole trap and deposited blocking layer using dielectric material to prevent from increasing space charge for injection charge between metal electrode and a-Se layer.   • In this paper in order to evaluat quantitavely the formation mechanism of space charge and its effects on the conduction characteristics in LDPE we have carried out the numerical analysis on the basis of experimental results of space charge distribution cathode field and current with time which had been simultaneously measured at applied field of 50kV/mm and room temperature. As the models for numerical analysis we employ the Richarson-Schottky theory for charge injection from electrode into LDPE and the band-tail conduction at crystalline regions and the hopping conduction by traps which mainly exist at the interface regions of crystalline-amorphous region for charge transport in LDPE. Futhermore in order to investigate the influence of physical parameters on the time characteristcs of space charge distribution and measured current we have changed the values of trap density activation energies for charge injection and transport and have analyzed their effects.

  • Nowadays, gasoline direct injection engines are being commercialized by virtue of improvement in control technology of spray, flow, air fuel ratio. The stratified charge type has the advantage of improving lean limit. The homogeneous type has the advantage of reducing engine-out hydrocabon emissions in the first 30 seconds after a cold start, in addition, improving transient air fuel ratio control. The vaporization and mixing if injected fuel with air has to e completed in a short time and the fuel film in cylinder and on piston has to be minimized. So, the flow and injection should be well controlled. This paper surveyed the spray characteristics of gasoline direct injection by using laser equipment and the combustion characteristics of the single cylinder engine using homogeneousas-mixture type gasoline direct injection.

Current Density Equations Representing the Transition between the Injection- and Bulk-limited Currents for Organic Semiconductors

  • The theoretical current density equations for organic semiconductors was derived according to the internal carrier emission equation based on the diffusion model at the Schottky barrier contact and the mobility equation based on the field dependence model, the so-called "Poole-Frenkel mobility model." The electric field becomes constant because of the absence of a space charge effect in the case of a higher injection barrier height and a lower sample thickness, but there is distribution in the electric field because of the space charge effect in the case of a lower injection barrier height and a higher sample thickness. The transition between the injection- and bulk-limited currents was presented according to the Schottky barrier height and the sample thickness change.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the fuel spray characteristics that made most important at an homogeneous air fuel mixture, in a common rail direct injection type HCCI engine. As a study conducted relation which a back pressure and injection pressure are influenced to air fuel mixture characteristics, we tried to offer date even through we select suitable to a HCCI engine running condition of the fuel injection condition. To accomplish the study, to measure a injection rate of common rail type injector and to visualize and simulate a fuel spray was conducted. From the result of injection rate, a common rail injector was confirmed to appear a initial delay of 0.3msec and a latter period delay of 0.7msec. Therefore, real injection duration was determined by about 0.5msec increasing. From the result of fuel spray, the spray penetration was proportional to 1/4 exponent of atmosphere pressure. An experimental equation was deduced from the spray penetration of spray visualization experiment and the relation of injection duration and penetration was estimated in HCCI engine using an experimental equation.
