재활용을 위한 양돈폐수와 공정슬러지의 특성연구 (Study on Characteristics of Piggery Waste and Processing Sludge for Reuse)

  • Charicteristics of piggery waste and treatment processing sludges for reuse were investigated. If it was thoroughly regulated in disinfectants, antibiotic substances and heavy metals, raw piggery waste can be gratified in criteria for fermentative compost (liquid) for flowers cultivation. Also, Because it is satisfied with various criteria of heavy metals and fertilizer contents for reuse except water content, primary pre-treatment sludge is very good material for composting. If provated goods on heavy metals are used in coagulation & dewatering process, coagulation & dewatering sludges are suitable for criteria of special waste regulation and by-product compost. This study proves that, if they are accomplished with suitable composting and mature process, piggery waste and processing sludges are free from microbiological problems as well as criteria of composting.

열중량 반응기를 이용한 제지슬러지의 연소 특성 (Combustion Characteristic of Paper Sludge Using TGA Reactor)

  • To obtain the preliminary design data for combustion of paper sludges, decomposition characteristics and combustion kinetics of paper sludges reactor have been determined in a TGA reactor. Also, the combustion characteristics of paper sludges have been determined in a fluidized bed reactor. The data obtained from the TGA reactor indicate that dewatering of paper sludge is terminated at temperature below 130${\circ}$C. With heating rate of 20${\circ}$C/min, combustion is terminated at temperature below 340${\circ}$C .The combustion rate is found to be first order with respect to temperature and oxygen concentration. Activation energies for paper wastes are found to be 570, 700, 2600, 4600 Kcal/mole, respectively. The calcination conversions were investigated with the operating temperature and residence time. In this investigation, it was found that calcination conversion was affected by the operating temperature and residence time. The optimum conditions of operating temperature and mean residence time were 850${\circ}$C and 6 minutes of respectively.

체류시간에 따른 정수장슬러지의 탈수특성 (Dewatering Characteristic of Water Treatment Plant Sludges based on Detention Time)

  • The dewaterability of a sludge can be characterized by two ways: the residual moisture content in the sludge cake after dewatering process, and the filtration of the sludge. Time to filter (TTF) represents filtration processes that are special cases of the flow through a solid matrix concept. TTF characterizes a resistance to filtration. The sludge resistance, in turn, can be subdivided into resistances associated with the solid phase and the liquid phase to evaluate the effect of each of the two phases on sludge dewaterability. In order to determine the dewatering characteristics of the water sludge samples, TTF and zeta potential were measured. For these studies cationic polymer was chosen for water sludge dewatering experiments. The zeta potential of thickener sludges neared from minus values to zero values till 4 days after sampling. The dewaterability of thickener sludges using cationic polymer was deteriorated according to the increase of detention time. As the detention time was increased from 4 to 10 days, the optimal dose of the polymer was increased from 4 to 8mg/L. Therefore, the optimal detention time plays an important part for the dewaterability of a sludge.

SHARON/ANAMMOX 결합공정에서 슬러지의 입상화와 특성 (Granulation and Characteristics of Sludges in the Combined SHARON/ANAMMOX Processes)

  • The combined SHARON (Single reactor system for High ammonium Removal Over Nitrite)-ANAMMOX (Anaerobic ammonium oxidation) reactor were operated in mesophilic condition ($35^{\circ}C$). In this study, microbial granulation and characteristics of SHARON and ANAMMOX sludges were investigated using settling test, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH). In SHARON reactor, Aerobic granulation with diameter of 1.5~2.5 mm was accomplished but aerobic granulation was weaker than anaerobic granular sludge. Initial seed sludge of ANAMMOX reactor was used as attached media for biofilm growth. ANAMMOX sludge was more compact and rounder rather than seed sludge. Though ANAMMOX sludge has high activity, it has lower settling ability than the seed granule. The color of ANAMMOX sludge was changed from dark to redish brown granular with diameter of 1~2 mm. In FISH of ANAMMOX sludge, high fraction of Candidatus B. stuttgartiensis which paid great role of nitrogen conversion was detected. Also, FISH results reveals that ANAMMOX bacteria inhabit at inner parts near surface, having advantages in utilization of substrates and protection from oxygen inhibition.

혐기성 소화를 위한 음식물쓰레기 전처리 방안에 관한 기초연구 (A Study on Foodwaste Pretreatment for Anaerobic Digestion)

  • 본 연구는 혐기성 소화를 이용한 음식물쓰레기와 하수슬러지 병합처리를 위한 음식물쓰레기 전처리 공정 방안을 모색하기 위하여 수행되었다. 음식물쓰레기 전처리 공정에 따른 음식물쓰레기 단위 공정별 성상 변화와 산발효조 적정 투여 기초조사 및 음식물쓰레기와 하수슬러지 혼합비 특성변화를 통한 산발효조의 효율 향상방안을 검토하였다. 연구결과, 음식물쓰레기의 구성성분은 대부분이 곡류와 채소류로 산발효 공정에서 유기산으로 전환될 가능성이 충분한 것으로 판단되며, 산발효조 투입시 TS의 적정한 범위를 위한 음식물쓰레기와 희석수의 비율은 1:5가 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 음식물쓰레기 분쇄 후 입도 분포 특성을 고려할 때 약 8mm 이하의 입자가 적합하며, 음식물쓰레기와 하수슬러지 슬러지의 혼합비는 3:7 이하가 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

전해부상을 이용한 활성슬러지의 농축효율 향상 (Improvement of the Thickening Characteristics of Activated Sludge by Electroflotation (EF))

  • The performances of electroflotation (EF) on the thickening of activated sludge were investigated using laboratory scale batch flotation reactors. Four activated sludges including bulking sludges were tested. After 30minutes of EF operation, 57-84 % of sludge volume reduction could be achieved by EF, while only about 1.5-14% could be obtained by gravity thickening for the same period. After thickening the effluent water quality in terms of TCOD, SS, and turbidity was improved by EF operation for all sludge samples. It is induced that the air bubbles entrapped in the thickened sludge play a key role in the observed improvement of sludge thickening and effluent quality.

산용해 및 초음파를 이용한 하수 슬러지의 산발효 특성 (Acid Fermentation Characteristics of Waste Activated Sludge using Acids and Ultrasonication)

  • The Carbon source to enhance the denitrification is essential matter in the advanced sewage treatment. For the high level of nutrient removal, external carbons such as ethanol, methanol, volatile fatty acids and so on should be needed. In this study, the methods to increase the sludge solubilization and acidification rate were compared with waste activated sludges and food waste leachate. Ultrasonication and acids were used for the pretreatment of organic particles in sludges. As a results, the optimal temperature and HRT were $60^{\circ}C$ and 5 days, respectively. HAc, HPr, HBr, and other VFAs for acid fermentations reduced up to 22, 16, 14, and 48% with HRT reduction. For the increase of solubilization, 28% of solids destruction rate was shown at 0.3 watts/mL.

산업단지에서 배출되는 폐 유기성 슬러지의 열적 특성 -제지업 및 음식료업을 중심으로- (A Study on the Thermal Characteristics of Waste Organic Sludges Generated from the Industrial Complex -Paper and Beverage Manufacturing Industries-)

  • 산업단지의 제지산업 및 음식료업에서 발생하는 유기성슬러지에 대하여 삼성분, 원소조성, 발열량, 열중량 분석 및 연소시험을 실시하였다. 삼성분 분석 결과 제지업의 평균값은 수분함량이 66.07%, 가연분이 14.67%, 회분이 19.29%로 나타났으며, 음식료업의 경우 평균값은 수분함량이 54.98%, 가연분이 26.77%, 회분이 18.23%로 나타났다. 원소분석 결과 평균값은 제지산업의 경우 C 21.75%, H 3.42%, O 32.70%, N 0.63%, S 0.30%로 나타났으며, 음식료업의 경우 C 39.88%, H 4.28%, O 23.20%, N 2.65%, S 0.35%로 나타났다. Dulong식을 이용하여 계산한 저위발열량이 2,000 kcal/kg을 넘는 T사의 경우 직접 연소 처리하여 에너지화 하는 것이 가능할 것으로 판단되지만 전처리가 필요하며, A와 C업체의 경우 연소처리를 통한 에너지화에는 어려움이 있을 것으로 판단된다. TGA 분석 결과, A사에서 배출되는 슬러지는 $700^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 연소를 해야 할 것으로 판단되며, C, I, T 3개 회사에서 배출되는 슬러지는 최소 $800^{\circ}C$ 이상 연소온도를 올려야 할 것으로 판단된다

정수 슬러지의 탈수성 개선을 위한 고분자 응집제 조합주입 고찰 (Determination of Organic Polyelectrolyte Addition Method to Improve Dewaterbility of Alum Sludge)

  • Since polyelectrolytes have been used as conditioners, conventionally only a single polyelectrolyte has been added for sludge conditioning. However, the amount of polyelectrolyte needed for optimal conditioning of sludge is very critical. Overdosing reduces the sludge dewaterbility. In this experimental study, sludge conditioning with single or dual polyelectrolyte was conducted to avoid problems associated with overdosing. Single polyelectrolyte conditioning was conducted by one of cationic, nonionic, and anionic polyelectrolytes. The dual polyelectrolyte conditioning was performed by adding one polyelectrolyte and another one in sequence. The dewaterbility of sludges were measured by SRF(specific resistance to filtration), TTF(time to filter), CST(capillary suction time) respectively. Additionally, parameters such as turbidity, zeta potential, viscosity of conditioned sludges or supematant were measured to evaluate the changed characteristics of sludge by addition of polyelectrolytes. From the experiment results, it was concluded that single polyelectrolyte conditioning had a high probability of overdosing, whereas dual polyelectrolyte conditioning resulted in a better dewaterbility and less chance of overdosing. But, it was also found that dosing sequence in dual conditioning was very important according to the characteristics of sludge. Parameters such as viscosity, turbidity, zeta potential were found to be useful as a means of evaluating sludge dewaterbility.

호기적 조건에서 플라스틱 생분해에 영향을 미치는 도시 하수 오니의 성질 (Characteristics of Municipal Sewage Sludge Affecting the Biodegradation of a Plastic Material Under Aerobic Condition)

  • The characteristics of activated sludge affecting the biodegradation of plastic materials under aerobic condition were studied using cellophane film as a model system. The activated sludges of site 3, which treat a mixture of domestic sewage and supernatant of septic tank, obtained from December 1993 to April 1994 showed similar biodegradation activities. Biodegradations for 28 days reached around 80%. Viable cell number of inoculums maintained at a level of 10$^{6}$~10$^{7}$ /ml. In this range, viable cell number showed no relationship with biodegradation activities. The activa- ted sludges of site 2, which treat a mixture of domestic sewage and anaerobic digest of nightsoil, obtained four times from April 1993 to April 1994 showed very different biodegradation activities ranged from 20% to 80% for 28 days. Inoculum size affects biodegradation significantly. One percent inoculum showed the best biodegradation among the inoculum sizes of 0.1, 1.0 and 10%. Ten percent inoculum revealed inhibitory effects on the biodegradation activity which can be greatly reduced by centrifugation and filtration. Filtration was better than centrifugation in reducing inhibitory effects.
