Characteristic relaxation time and characteristic diffusion time of viscoelastic fluids are determined experimentally by measuring the zero-shear-rate viscosity by falling ball viscometer and the infinite-shear-rate viscosity by capillary tube viscometer. Fluids used in experiments are aqueous solutions of polyacrylamide Separan AP-273 and the polymer concentrations range from 300 to 2000 wppm. A newly designed laser beam and timer system is employed to overcome the difficulty in measuring terminal velocities of the low concentration solutions. Ball removal device is prepared to remove the dropped ball from the bottom of cylinder without disturbing the testing fluid. In order to measure the zero-shear-rate viscosity, densities of hollow aluminium balls are adjusted very close to the densities of testing fluids. Characteristic diffusion time, which is ball viscometer. However, terminal velocity of a needle by falling ball viscometer is not affected by the time interval of dropping needles and characteristic diffusion time is not measured with a dropping needle. Powell-Eyring model predicts the highest values of the characteristic relaxation times among models used for heat transfer experimental works for a given polymer solution. As degradation of a polymer solution continues, the zero-shear-rate viscosity decreases more seriously than the infinite-shear-rate viscosity. Characteristic relaxation times of polymer solutions decreases as degradation continues.

Until now, the transmission of data for VOD(Video on Demenad) was based on a real time modelling of video data. Markow Modulated Fluid Sources(MMFS) and Markow Modulated Poisson Sources(MMPS) are the most widely used modelling methods. But the charactersitics of the VBR(Variable Bit Rate) signal prevents modelling from actually being "real-time". Also these methods call for the use of large buffers for the abolishment of cell loss. These modelling methods are, of course, useful i case of teleconferences where a real time modelling of video traffic is inevitable, but they are insufficient in cases where the characteristic infomation of video traffic can be obtained beforehand-cases such as VOD. Video data is speial in that if one file is preprocessed all other products can simply be copied from that onepreprocessed file. This characteristic helps reduce the overhead arising from the job of drawing out characteristic information to almost zero. But still, compared to the existing real time modelling method data transmission using characteristic information succeeds in raising the efficiency of data transmission. In tis paper we will outline a method of dta transmission which use the characteristic information of each video stream, and evaluate this method through some experiments.periments.

A multi-variable Golden-Section adaptive controller is proposed for the tracking control of robotic manipulators with unknown dynamics. With a small sample time, the unknown dynamics of the robotic manipulator are denoted equivalently by a characteristic model of a 2-order multivariable time-varying difference equation. The coefficients of the characteristic model change slowly with time and some of their valuable characteristic relationships emerge. Based on the characteristic model, an adaptive algorithm with a simple form for the control of robotic manipulators is presented, which combines the multi-variable Golden-Section adaptive control law with the weighted least squares estimation method. Moreover, a compensation neural network law is incorporated into the designed controller to reduce the influence of the coefficients estimation error on the control performance. The results of the simulations indicate that the developed control scheme is effective in robotic manipulator control.

Because of high torque and easiness of speed control, Direct Current(DC) motors have been used for a long time. But, its applications are limited in circumstance and performance, since they contained brush and commutator. The commutation characteristic gives effect to life and performance of the DC motor. Naturally, the commutation characteristic analysis is strongly required. In this paper, With the result of finite element analysis, The inductance is calculated each rotor position and applied to the voltage equations coupled with commutation equation. Also, contact resistances of brush/commutator assembly are considered using contact area and brush width converted with commutator segments. The time derivative term in the differential equation is solved in time difference method. This algorithm was applied to 2-pole shunt DC motor. We considered commutation characteristic by changing contact resistance between brush and commutator segment.

This paper presents that a transient response can be characterized by certain parameters which are correlated to characteristic polynomial coefficients. These are characteristic ratios and characteristic pulsatances by P. Naslin [4]. We have developed an approach to control directly the transient response. Firstly, speed of the response can be controlled by reconstruction form via multipliable characteristic pulsatances. Secondly, overshoot is controlled by reconstruction form via multipliable characteristic ratios. These formulas can be independently characterized by the system overshoot and the response time to a step input.
In this paper, we introduce a higher order split least-squares characteristic mixed element scheme for Sobolev equations. First, we use a characteristic mixed element method to manipulate both convection term and time derivative term efficiently and obtain the system of equations in the primal unknown and the flux unknown. Second, we define a least-squares minimization problem and a least-squares characteristic mixed element scheme. Finally, we obtain a split least-squares characteristic mixed element scheme for the given problem whose system is uncoupled in the unknowns. We establish the convergence results for the primal unknown and the flux unknown with the second order in a time increment.
Solenoid valve has used in various industrial field extensively. A solenoid valve has different size, shape and method of operation accordantly to industrial field. Many researchers study on kinds of solenoid valve such as flow rate, dynamic, magnetic field, valve shape and operating method. But the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve are not studied. This paper describes the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve. At first, the diaphragm valve is simulated in AMESim simulation tool. AMESim model found that an effect of valve performance depends on parameter. The parameter is the diaphragm orifice area. And the performance test bench confirms the effect in this parameter. Finally, it finds out the flow rate characteristic and dynamic response time performance on the diaphragm valve.
This paper examines the time-series relations among expected return, risk, and book-to-market(B/M) at the portfolio level. The time-series analysis is a natural alternative to cross-sectional regressions. An alternative feature of the time-series regressions is that they focus on changes in expected returns, not on average returns. Using the time-series analysis, we can directly test whether the three-factor model explains time-varying expected returns better than the characteristic-based model. These results should help distinguish between the risk and mispricing stories. We find that B/M is strongly associated with changes in risk, as measured by the Fama and French(1993) three-factor model. After controlling for changes in risk, B/M contains little additional information about expected returns. The evidence suggests that the three-factor model explains time-varying expected returns better than the characteristic-based model.

In this paper, we propose the computation reduction methods of LSP(Line spectrum pairs) transformation that is mainly used in CELP vocoders. In order to decrease the computational time in real root method the characteristic of four proposed algorithms is as the following. First, scheme to reduce the LSP transformation time uses met scale. Developed the second scheme is the control of searching order by the distribution characteristic of LSP parameters. Third, scheme to reduce the LSP transformation time uses voice characteristics. Developed the fourth scheme is the control of searching interval and order by the distribution characteristic of LSP parameters. As a result of searching time, computational amount, transformed LSP parameters, SNR, MOS test, waveform of synthesized speech, speech, spectrogram analysis, searching time reduced about 37.5%, 46.21%, 46.3%, 51.29% in average, computational amount is reduced about 44.76%, 49.44%, 47.03%, 57.40%. But the transformed LSP parameters of the proposed methods were the same as those of real root method.
