Cathepsins are lysosomal/cysteine proteases belong to papain family (C1 family) that is involved in intracellular protein degradation, antigen processing, hormone maturation, and immune responses. In this study, member of cathepsin family was identified from Manila clam (Mc-Cathepsin D) and investigated the immune response against brown ring disease (BRD) causing Vibrio tapetis challenge. The identified Mc-Cathepsin D gene encodes characteristic features typical for the cathepsin family including eukaryotic and viral aspartyl protease signature domain and two highly conserved active sites ($^{84}VVFDTGSSNLWV^{95}$ and $^{270}IADTGTSLLAG^{281}$). Moreover, MC-Cathepsin D shows higher identity values (-50-70%) and conserved amino acids with known cathepsin D members. Transcriptional results (by quantitative real-time RT-PCR) showed that Mc-Cathepsin D was expressed at higher levels in gills and hemocytes than mantle, adductor muscle, foot, and siphon. After the V. tapetis challenge under laboratory conditions, Mc-Cathepsin D mRNA was up-regulated in gills and hemocytes. Present study indicates that Mc-Cathepsin D is constitutively expressed in different tissues and potentially inducible when infecting BRD by V. tapetis. It is further suggesting that Mc-Cathepsin D may be involved in multiple role including immune response reactions against BRD.

In this paper, we design SSD(simultaneous single band duplex) system using RF(radio frequency) cancellation and digital cancellation. we analyze characteristic of residual self-interference after RF Cancellation signal when error of phase shifter occur in RF cancellation. When phase shifter error of $0^{\circ}$, $0.5^{\circ}$, $1^{\circ}$ and $2^{\circ}$ occur in RF cancellation, residual self-interference signal power after RF cancellation is bigger than desired signal power of distant station. So, it is impossible to receive transmit data of distant station. but we confirm that it is possible to receive transmit data of distant station by digital cancellation with frame structure. Also, in digital cancellation with frame structure, if residual self-interference signal after RF cancellation is too large then LMS algorithm requires more time to estimate self-interference channel. That is, performance degradation occurs because self-interference channel estimation has not completed in estimation frame.

We proposed a new pixel circuit and driving method for the large-area, high-luminance AMOLED applications in this study. We designed with the low-temperature poly-silicon(LTPS) thin film transistors(TFTs) that has poor uniformity but stable characteristic. To improve the uniformity of an image, the threshold voltage($V_{TH}$) and the mobility of the TFTs can be compensated together. The proposed method overcomes the previous methods for mobility compensation, and that is profitable for large-area applications. Black data insertion was introduced to improve the characteristics for moving images. AMOLED panel can operate in two compensation mode, so the luminance degradation by mobility compensation can be released. The scan driver for controlling the pixel circuits were optimized, and the compensation mode can be controlled simply by that. Final driving signal has large timing margin, and the panel operates stably. The pixel circuit was designed for 14.1" WXGA top-emission ANGLED panel. The non-uniformity of the designed panel was estimated under 5% for the mobility compensation time of 1us.
In order to examine the constituents and weathered state of a lacquer specimen, analysis of the organic materials was conducted using py/GC/MS(pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry). The samples were obtained from the lacquered wooden sheath of a long ring-pommel sword excavated in the Imdang No.1 ancient tomb constructed around the Proto-Three Kingdoms period. In direct py/GC/MS, the sample and the dried Asian lacquer showed similar chromatograms, while the characteristic compounds of Asian lacquer such as 1,2-dimethoxy-3-pentadecylbenzene were observed in THM(thermally assisted hydrolysis and methylation)-py/GC/MS. In addition, compounds like dimethyl nonanedioate, which presumably originated from drying oil, were also detected. Furthermore, the detection of oxidized catechols in considerable amount indicated that the degradation of lacquer is estimated to result from the oxidation of urushiol. Therefore, it is suggested that the lacquered wooden sheath was prepared using Asian lacquer and drying oil, and that the lacquer layer was considerably oxidized over the long burial time.

In this paper, a system for real-time or periodic measurement and analysis of RF parameters such as forward transmit power and pilot power in CDMA base station systems is proposed. Such RF characteristic parameter measurement can be prevented from system fault and used to achieve optimal service quality and maximum investment return through cell coverage expansion, subscriber capacity increase and so on. For forward power measurement, the local oscillator frequency for the detector is varied so that the transmit power for all channels can be measured. The channel power measurement can be used to analyze the variation in transmit power for changes in voice traffic. By comparing to forward $E_c/I_o$, the pilot channel power can be deducted, which can be used to determine uy degradation in transmit section modules such as the high dover amplifier. Since an accurate analysis of carefully measured data using the CDMA level detector must be made, the system is designed so that measurement errors due to changes in crest factor with modulation method can be overcome.
Effect of ${\alpha}-amylase$ and various emulsifiers on characteristics of bread dough were examined. Fungal or bacterial ${\alpha}-amylase$ and various emulsifiers including monoglyceride (MG), sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate (SSL), and diacetyltartaric acid ester of mono- and diglycerides (DATEM) were added to bread dough both individually and as mixtures. Rheological characteristics of various bread doughs were examined through falling number, farinograph, alveograph, and rapid visco analysis. Results obtained showed falling number decreased via degradation of starch by ${\alpha}-amylase$. In farinogram, addition of ${\alpha}-amylase$ and emulsifiers in dough decreased consistency, water absorption, mechanical tolerance index, and dough development time. Farinogram characteristic was improved by adding SSL+MG to dough formula. Similar to farinogram addition of ${\alpha}-amylase$ and emulsifiers in alveogram of dough decreased overpressure, extensibility, swelling index, and deformation energy. Whereas addition of ${\alpha}-amylase$ did not affect pasting temperature, viscosity of dough tended to decrease.
Implantable biodegradable wafers were prepared with pamidronate -loaded poly (L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA, 75 : 25 mole ratio by lactide to glycolide, molecular weight : 20000 and 90000 g/mole) by direct compression method for the sustained release of pamidronate to investigate the possibility for the treatment of bone resorption. Pamidronate-loaded PLGA powders were prepared by means of physical mixing and spray drying with the control of formulation factors and characterized by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The pamidronate-loaded PLGA powders fabricated into wafers by direct compression under the constant pressure and time at room temperature. These wafers were also observed for their structural characteristic, release pattern, and degradation pattern. The release rate of pamidronate increased with increasing their initial loading ratio as well as increasing wafer thickness. The molecular weight of PLGA affects the release pattern : the higher molecular weight of PLGA, the faster release rate. It can be explained that the higher viscosity of high molecular PLGA solution at same concentration tends to aggregate PLGA and pamidronate resulting in unstable pharmaceutical dosage form. This system had advantages in terms of simplicity in design and obviousness of drug release rate and nay be useful as an implantable dosage form for the treatment of aural cholesteatoma.
Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have potential applications in medicine, photocatalysis, agriculture, and cosmetic fields due to their unique physicochemical properties and strong antimicrobial activity. Here, AgNPs were synthesized using actinobacterial SL19 strain, isolated from acidic forest soil in Poland, and confirmed by UV-vis and FTIR spectroscopy, TEM, and zeta potential analysis. The AgNPs were polydispersed, stable, spherical, and small, with an average size of 23 nm. The FTIR study revealed the presence of bonds characteristic of proteins that cover nanoparticles. These proteins were then studied by using liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and identified with the highest similarity to hypothetical protein and porin with molecular masses equal to 41 and 38 kDa, respectively. Our AgNPs exhibited remarkable antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The combined, synergistic action of these synthesized AgNPs with commercial antibiotics (ampicillin, kanamycin, streptomycin, and tetracycline) enabled dose reductions in both components and increased their antimicrobial efficacy, especially in the case of streptomycin and tetracycline. Furthermore, the in vitro activity of the AgNPs on human cancer cell lines (MCF-7, A375, A549, and HepG2) showed cancer-specific sensitivity, while the genotoxic activity was evaluated by Ames assay, which revealed a lack of mutagenicity on the part of nanoparticles in Salmonella Typhimurium TA98 strain. We also studied the impact of the AgNPs on the catalytic and photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO). The decomposition of MO was observed by a decrease in intensity of absorbance within time. The results of our study proved the easy, fast, and efficient synthesis of AgNPs using acidophilic actinomycete SL19 strain and demonstrated the remarkable potential of these AgNPs as anticancer and antibacterial agents. However, the properties and activity of such particles can vary by biosynthesized batch.
The objects generated by the keyword new in Java are automatically managed by the garbage collector Inside Java Virtual Machine (JVM) not like using the keywords free or delete in C or C++ programming environments. This provides a means of freedom of memory management burden to the application programmers. The garbage collector however. inherently has its own run time execution overhead. Thus it causes the performance degradation of JVM significantly. In order to mitigate the execution burden of a garbage collector, we propose a novel way of dynamic memory management scheme in Java environment. In the proposed method, the application programmers can explicitly manage the objects In a simple way, which in consequence the run-time overhead can be reduced while the garbage collector is under processing. In order to accomplish this, Java application firstly calls the APIs that arc implemented by native Jana, and then calls the subroutines depending on the JVM, which in turn support to keep the portability characteristic Java has. In this way, we can not only sustain the stability in execution environments. but also improve performance of garbage collector by simply calling the APIs. Our simulation study show that the proposed scheme improves the execution time of the garbage collector from 10.07 percent to 52.24 percent working on Mark-and-Sweep algorithm.

This study deals with the irradiation effects on some selected components which are being used in an Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process (ACP). Irradiation test components have a higher priority from the aspect of their reliability because their degradation or failure is able to critically affect the performance of an ACP equipment. Components that we chose for the irradiation tests were the AC servo motor, potentiometer, thermocouples, accelerometer and CCD camera. ACP facility has a number of AC servo motors to move the joints of a manipulator and to operate process equipment. Potentiometers are used for a measurement of several joint angles in a manipulator. Thermocouples are used for a temperature measurement in an electrolytic reduction reactor, a vol-oxidation reactor and a molten salt transfer line. An accelerometer is installed in a slitting machine to forecast an incipient failure during a slitting process. A small CCD camera is used for an in-situ vision monitoring between ACP campaigns. We made use of a gamma-irradiation facility with cobalt-60 source for an irradiation test on the above components because gamma rays from among various radioactive rays are the most significant for electric, electronic and robotic components. Irradiation tests were carried out for enough long time for total doses to be over expected threshold values. Other components except the CCD camera showed a very high radiation hardening characteristic. Characteristic changes at different total doses were investigated and threshold values to warrant at least their performance without a deterioration were evaluated as a result of the irradiation tests.
