Intensive Anatomical Studies on the Du Channel and the Ren Channel (독맥경과 임맥경에 대한 심층해부학)

  • For the purpose of experimental and clinical studies on the 14 channels and collaterals, we performed an inquiry on the anatomical mapping of neronal, circulatory and muscular networks in the human body which possibly correspond to the major pathway of Du channel and Ren channel known to be critical for overall controlling and mediating 12 regular channel connections. The theoretical background of this analysis was based on the oriental medicinal treatises which described acu-points and related anatomical informations. We suggest that rearrangement methodology for the 12 regular channels as described here may be applied to other 12 regular channels and to develop the new concept on the elucidation of the medical efficacy based on precise anatomical localization of channels and collaterals as well as the meridian points. It is proposed that interdisciplinary studies between oriental and western medicine are critical for more efficient achievement.

Impact Analysis on the Coastal Erosion and Accretion due to Relocation of the Breakwaters

  • Recently it was known that the problems of nearshore processes and damage of berth and counter facilities frequently had appeared at the small fishery port, such as Daebang near Samcheonpo city, Korea. Here we try to analyze the impact of the rearrangement of counter facilities and berth layout adopted for tranquility of its inner harbor. Because this harbor is being connected to Daebang channel, the rearrangement of the structures might affect to the current speed and direction and wave height, so do to the sea bottom undulation. Therefore, we made model test for the several layouts of the berth and breakwater in this area. Numerical model result shows that the bottom was eroded by 1m by tidal currents and the speed of flow did not shrink, even after the construction work was completed. The direction of the sand movement was downdrift. Although the model study gave reasonable description of beach processes and approach channel sedimentation mechanism, it is necessary to compare with the field history, including the records of waves, tides and bottom materials, etc. for better prediction.

An Efficient Constellation Rearrangement for HARQ with 64QAM (64QAM 변조 방식의 HARQ 전송을 위한 효율적인 성상 재배열 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient symbol mapping method based on LLR (log-likelihood ratio) statistic for HARQ employing CoRe (constellation rearrangement) with 64QAM. The signal constellations for 64QAM with limited number of retransmissions are selected by the proposed mapping rule. Then we determine the transmission order of selected constellations. The proposed scheme reduces the performance deviation between transmit symbols so as to improve the system performance. Through simulation results, the proposed and existing CoRe mapping methods are compared with respect to error rate and throughput in MIMO-OFDM system over fading channel and we confirm the applicability of the proposed scheme in practical wireless communications environment.

  • A new dynamic channel assignment (DCA) algorithm with rearrangement for cellular mobile communication systems is suggested. Our DCA algorithm is both traffic and interference adaptive, which is based on the mathematical formulation of the maximum packing under a realistic propagation model. In developing the algorithm, we adopt the Lagrangean relaxation technique that has been successfully used in the area of mathematical programming. Computational experiments of the algorithm reveal quite encouraging results. Although our algorithm primarily focuses on microcellular systems, it can be effectively applied to conventional cellular systems under highly nonuniform traffic distributions and interference conditions.

Capacity Improvement with Dynamic Channel Assignment and Reuse Partitioning in Cellular Systems

  • In cellular mobile communications, how to achieve optimum system capacity with limited frequency spectrum is one of the main research issues. Many dynamic channel assignment (DCA) schemes have been proposed and studied to allocate the channels more efficiently, thus, the capacity of cellular systems is improved. Reuse partitioning (RP) is another technique to achieve higher capacity by reducing the overall reuse distance. In this paper, we present a network-based DCA scheme with the implementation of RP technique, namely dynamic reuse partitioning with interference information (DRP-WI). The scheme aims to minimize the effect of assigned channels on the availability of channels for use in the interfering cells and to reduce their overall reuse distances. The performance of DRP-WI is measured in terms of blocking probability and system capacity. Simulation results have confirmed the effectiveness of DRP-WI scheme. Under both uniform and non-uniform traffic distributions, DRP-WI exhibits outstanding performance in improving the system capacity. It can provide about 100% capacity improvement as compared to conventional fixed channel assignment scheme with 70 system channels.

Product-Resolved Photodissociations of Iodotoluene Radical Cations

  • Photodissociations of o-, m-, and p-iodotoluene radical cations were investigated by using Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) spectrometry. Iodotoluene radical cations were prepared in an ICR cell by a photoionization charge-transfer method. The time-resolved one-photon dissociation spectra were obtained at 532 nm and the identities of $C_7H_7^+$ products were determined by examining their bimolecular reactivities toward toluene-$d_8$. The two-photon dissociation spectra were also recorded in the wavelength range 615-670 nm. The laser power dependence, the temporal variation, and the identities of $C_7H_7^+$ were examined at 640 nm. The mechanism of unimolecular dissociation of iodotoluene radical cations is elucidated: the lowest barrier rearrangement channel leads exclusively to the formation of the benzyl cation, whereas the direct C-I cleavage channel yields the tolyl cations that rearrange to both benzyl and tropylium cations with dissimilar branching ratios among o-, m-, and p-isomers. With a two-photon energy of 3.87 eV at 640 nm, the direct C-I cleavage channel results in the product branching ratio, [tropylium cation]/[benzyl cation], in descending order, 0.16 for meta >0.09 for ortho >0.05 for para.

Establishment of Condition Assessment Criteria in Agricultural Reservoirs by AHP (AHP 기법에 의한 농업용 저수지의 상태평가 기준 설정)

  • In this study, in order to establish the criteria for evaluation of importance by the type of facility specialized for agricultural reservoirs, an expert group consisting of a total of 167 members who were in management, or specialized in the fields of design, research, and diagnosis were organized, and the importance for facilities was set with application of the AHP technique. The importance of dam body, spillway, and intake structure composing a reservoir were set at 59%, 24%, and 17%, and the importance of dam crest, upstream slope, and downstream slope constituting a dam body was set at 32%, 31%, and 37%, respectively. In addition, the importance of approach channel, regulated channel, chute channel, and stilling basin consisting a spillway was set at 15%, 44%, 26%, and 15%, and the importance of inclined conduit and outlet conduit consisting an intake structure was set at 35% and 65%, respectively. The safety grade of the reservoirs evaluated by applying the newly presented importance values in this study showed the rearrangement of the grades with a change of 11% compared to the previous grades. In this way, the newly established criteria are expected to be utilized as basic data with strategic importance in reservoir safety management and disaster prevention as well as the operation of systems in the future.

The Effects of a Thermal Annealing Process in IGZO Thin Film Transistors

  • In-Ga-Zn-O(IGZO) receive great attention as a channel material for thin film transistors(TFTs) as next-generation display panel backplanes due to its superior electrical and physical properties such as a high mobility, low off-current, high sub-threshold slope, flexibility, and optical transparency. For the purpose of fabricating high performance IGZO TFTs, a thermal recovery process above a temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ is required for recovery or rearrangement of the ionic bonding structure. However diffused metal atoms from source/drain(S/D) electrodes increase the channel conductivity through the oxidation of diffused atoms and reduction of $In_2O_3$ during the thermal recovery process. Threshold voltage ($V_{TH}$) shift, one of the electrical instability, restricts actual applications of IGZO TFTs. Therefore, additional investigation of the electrical stability of IGZO TFTs is required. In this paper, we demonstrate the effect of Ti diffusion and modulation of interface traps by carrying out an annealing process on IGZO. In order to investigate the effect of diffused Ti atoms from the S/D electrode, we use secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, HSC chemistry simulation, and electrical measurements. By thermal annealing process, we demonstrate VTH shift as a function of the channel length and the gate stress. Furthermore, we enhance the electrical stability of the IGZO TFTs through a second thermal annealing process performed at temperature $50^{\circ}C$ lower than the first annealing step to diffuse Ti atoms in the lateral direction with minimal effects on the channel conductivity.

  • In this paper, we propose an error-resilient transmission technique for the H.263 video data stream over wireless networks. The proposed algorithm employs bit rearrangement hierarchically, providing the robust and exact synchronization against the bit errors, without requiring extra redundant information. In addition, we propose the recovery algorithm for the lost or erroneous motion vectors. We implement the encoder and decoder, based on the H.263 standard, and evaluate the proposed algorithm through intensive computer simulation. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm yields good image quality, in spite of the channel errors, and prevents the error propagation both in the spatial and the temporal domain efficiently.

  • Wang Bing reorganized "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon Essential Questions" by adding 7 more volumes to the original 9 volumes and made it 24 volumes. And also rearranged the order in "preservation of health", "yinyang and five phases", "visceral manifestation", "treatment", "pulsation", "the channels", "diseases", "acupuncture ", "movement of the qi", "medical virtue", "wanton theory" etc. Though this, Wang Bing hoped the "The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon Essential Questions" to be reborn into a systematic and methodical medical book. Taoism, which is one of the characteristics of Wang Bing's medical conception, is revealed in both the contents of the book and the rearrangement of the book's order. Another feature is that he explains most of the diseases by the channel theory. His insists the script be interpretated in a new way that fits the situation and not to be bound to the words it self. And this also shows one of his conception of medicine.
